Autistic spaces are getting so much more hostile towards people with low empathy, and it sucks
There was a subreddit I really liked, people were chill, and then there was a sudden influx of people making posts like ‘Autistic people have empathy! Saying we don’t makes us seem like monsters! Thats not a symptom!’ And people making posts explaining that no, actually, some of us do have low empathy got attacked and told they were wrong or ableist? And it sucks, because its just so hard to find a place to exist where you can be seen as not evil? I don’t know, it just hurts a lot to be told that

it took me a while to fully truly understand this but damen's first impression of laurent being that he's lazy and spoiled and generally useless was NOT him projecting. damen is very hardworking and responsible. is the thing. so he dislikes people who aren't and likes people who are therefore when he understands laurent is hardworking & responsible he starts liking him. damen thought laurent was lazy and spoiled because that's how laurent is presented by the regent + laurent plays along by default bc he's in an impossible situation. as most things about laurent's image, it's deliberate. fabricated. you see what i mean

I wanna talk about this whole 48 seconds scene in Alex's bedroom. Have you realized that it was all taken using one long shot, no cuts, no edits, little to none music scoring background? Just them kissing, pushing, intense eye contact, making out, hips moving, hair grabbing, caressing each other's body, whilst delivering their lines. That's so fucking cinematic for me!
Sometimes in movies especially sexy scenes like this they tend to do a lot of cuts and connect pieces of clips together to make the scene work and to show how intense the emotions are of the characters. But Matthew just rolled the camera and allowed both actors to do their job and damn, Taylor and Nick outperformed!
This only prove they don't need those crazy editing to show their chemistry and evoke emotions from the viewers. They're just PERFECT!
PS. Sometimes I wonder how many times they rehearsed this whole scene off-cam to make it perfect during filming day. 🫠
