From the pictures i've seen it seems like it has a longish staple length? but i'm no expert in fleeces and the pictures are not the best quality so i will have to wait and see!!

FIBERS FETISH
As ive been making more crochet / felted kink gear ive been thinking a lot about the intersection of fiber arts and sex + kink. Ive been eroticizing the shit out of fibers and heres why
Wet felting is the process of fusing natural fibers together by relaxing them using hot water so they can connect, and then shocking them with friction and cold water so they constrict and fuse. The fibers cant fuse if you dont relax them first. With wet felting, you dont have a ton of control over what the final product will look like because of how the fibers move around during the felting process. This is the part that always makes me feel like the fibers are alive, they just kinda do their own thing and the final product often turns out looking weirdly bodily and lifelike. Theres something so sensual and beautiful about this process itsself. With any natural fiber, but especially animal fibers, heat, water and friction is all you need to felt the fibers together.
Tumblr media
This means that with body heat, sweat, and movement, the fibers fuse together and become stronger. Wool is especially known for retaining sweat and felting well. These materials are extra absorbent, not just with fluids, but with energy and memory too. When we use natural fibers during play, whether it be rope or felted or crocheted kink gear, the fibers retain that body heat, absorb every sweat droplet, feel the friction, pain, pleasure, anticipation and hold it all. Not only do they retain it all, but it actually changes the composition of the material and makes it stronger and more durable.
Natural fibers have memory. When we wear these objects during play, we are infusing them with even more life + sex + they keep it all alive within them. Its like the fibers are feeding off this sexual energy and you can feel it when you wear it, and even see it when you notice things start to felt together after a while. The fibers come from life and they retain that life, and hold all the energy we give them as the wearers.
It is so hot and beautiful to me.

fiber artists be like “this project has shaven years off my life. for endless hours I have toiled with no end in sight, a man dying in the desert of my own foolishness. my loved ones will find my withered remains hunched over in my armchair, skeletal hands grasping the finished piece that drove me to my early grave. ooooh that pattern looks awesome I must start it right away”

Sudoku puzzle blanket!
Tumblr media
I came up with this idea when I was thinking about how to properly randomize the colors in a granny square blanket.
You'll need 9 different colors (I used white + 8 shades of purple) and 9 squares of each color. Assign each color a number 1-9. Get a completed sudoku puzzle (or solve one yourself) and start assembling!
I had my squares organized in this bin while I was working and kept this picture saved in my phone with the sudoku puzzle picture to make sure I didn't mix any of the numbers up.

The time is finally here! The Summer Solstice Mystery yarn/fibre preorders are live!
If you love surprises and summer vibes, then this is for you!
What you get:
- 100g of yarn or fibre. Pick from BFL/nylon sock yarn; Merino DK yarn; polwarth combed top; or cheviot combed top. Hand dyed in a mystery summery colourway
- themed stitch marker
- themed sticker sheet
- optional bonus: a lil postcard painted by me with a lil message on the back. This is just for funsies! I’m a very beginner with painting! You can get one, or you can not get one. The choice is entirely up to you. All the info is in the listing. You can choose what name you want the postcard to be addressed to, so if you prefer a different name than the one in your shipping info, I can address you as such in my lil message. That name will only appear on the postcard and no where else. (You can put anything! You can put nothing if you do not wish to be percieved! Just don’t put anything offensive?)
Preorders will close on the 27th of May and will ship in the first week of June!

i think about creation as an act of love a lot. i knit a pair of socks for my mom for her birthday. ive made some for practice, but my first real pair, in variegated shades of blue wool-nylon blend, they were always going to be hers. art isn't a hobby for the impatient. i am not a patient person. that first sock took a week to knit up. the second took four days. she won't know the thousands of tiny stitches or notice the hidden counts of her favorite number i hid in the design, but she'll know she was first, and her feet will be warm

My grandmother made me this quilt when I was in middle school. It has seen a LOT of wear and tear. Last year I ripped a huge tear it in and she was able to mend it for me which was a huge help. Unfortunately, a few of the fabrics have decided to fall apart and it is my turn to patch my quilt.
I have scoured the top for holes and tears and marked them with safety pins. I am taking patches down around the holes by hand. After I put all the patches on, I will reinforce them all with a bit of machine stitching along the original quilting lines and such.
I could sew around the edges of the patches by machine as well, but this is a queen size quilt and I have a standard home hobbyist sewing machine. I would rather spend extra time hand stitching on front of the TV than wrestle the quilt under my machine any more than I absolutely have to.
The pink fabric I am currently using for patches is actually from a skirt that my grandmother made me that no longer fits, but I wanted to save the fabric. I think it's fitting to use fabric from the skirt she made me to fix up the quilt she made me.
