I canât help but still be very sad and disappointed concerning Mikasa. I always thought her arc was to become independant from Eren so of all the characters I really was expecting her to move on and be with someone else or with her friends at least. But instead it looks like she will just spend her remaining years sitting in front of Eren grave all alone, something that I hope not because the simple thought makes me want to cry again

However, thatâs not how the chapter reads to me at all! Three years is not a long time at all for an epilogue, much less to get over someone youâve loved your whole life. Plus, Mikasa states that the rest of the 104th are on their way to Paradis and to her, which implies sheâs in contact with them and with Historia; sheâs just living a life away from the war, as she always wanted.
If youâre into that kind of thing, Pieck pretty clearly implies Jean is fixing his hair to impress Mikasa, and itâs the same hairstyle he wore in his daydream of her earlier. So people are free (heh) to headcanon that theyâll end up together, or that Mikasa will be alone, whichever they prefer.

1/2 do u think mikasa will ever move on and start a relationship with some1 (aka Jean)? Jean was doing his hair to "impress" some1 on the way to paradis (where mikasa was). we also had Jeans dream in the past with a wife who seems like Mikasa with a scar. mikasa having child was also implied by her tatto.
ïżŒ â2/2 but in 138 mikasa clearly said that she can't forget Eren. in 139 she still has scarf. single people can be happy too. also eren's wish that mikasa would love only him and never forgets him implies that maybe she would really be devoted to him until end of her life. this open ending is messing with me. i just hope in afterlife EM reunites. what is your headcanon for Mikasa after 139 regarding her love life?â
Ugh...Here we go!đ Well- Tbh, I would say I am in no position to actually give normal answers. I am way too heartbroken (yes, even tho I liked the ending).
But the thing is...Will Mikasa actually move on? She will definitely continue to live and remember Eren, because thatâs what she always chose for herself in any situation. Mikasa always fought for people she loves, but what I really dislike about this is how Isayama handled everything regarding Mikasaâs character. What was the purpose of her tattoo and showing it to Eren? Why it was written in M6 font? Why did we need so many things regarding her if at the end she was all alone.
Eren loved Mikasa more than anything and she wholeheartedly loved him. I could give anything to see them together (Eren with a full body), because the last time when she saw him as a full human being was in ch.112. It has been 3 years after the end of the rumbling and I still think that Mikasa will need quite some time to heal.
About Jean...It truly depends on how Mikasa will act afterwards. Will she be able to develop romantic feelings for someone else? Especially after Eren? He was a big part of her life and the person who influenced her the most. Will she be able to actually move on? These are the questions.
Jeanâa dream can be a foreshadowing, but at the same time...Itâs quite hard to say if they will be together or not. Again, it will heavily depend on Mikasa herself, because after all, getting with someone itâs up to her choice. If she doesnât want to, Mikasa will still live and love the person who saved her on that day. If she does, good for her. Mikasa deserves to be happy no matter what.
All in all, their love isnât tied to a specific place, time or dimension. If we actually get something after this, I would LOVE to see EMâs reunion...Even if itâs in an alternative universe.

Erenâs weakness and Mikasaâs strength
Mikasa faced one of her strengths and weaknesses, Eren. Her love for him was her strength and fear to lose him was her weakness.
Mikasa chose to stick to the reality, because it would mean that she would lose her motivation. As I said before, Eren wants to forget, but Mikasa chooses to remember. Staying with Eren was her biggest desire, but accepting Erenâs wish meant that she would give up on herself. She didnât follow what he wanted, but did what she wanted for herself. She declared her independence from Eren once again.
She finally accepted Erenâs fate that she canât avoid. Eren will die in both alternative universe and reality, because it is his fate and choice.
Mikasa is no longer scared to lose him, because her love motivates her to fight and while she is still fighting, she wonât die and memory of Eren will exist as well. She wonât forget him.
On Erenâs side his love for Mikasa was his weakness and fear to lose her was his strength.
Eren wanted to give her and others the best life he could even though it meant that he has to sacrifice himself. His fear to lose her and Armin motivated him to master the power he was given and go against his own ideals to make them live long and happy lives.
But Erenâs love for her is his biggest weakness, because it means that he would stop fighting and let things be as they are. If we look back at ch.50, Eren rejected the kiss, because his love for her is what Mikasa wants, but not what she actually needs. If he kissed her at that moment, it would mean that he gave up and it was clearly elaborated in ch.138.
In the latest chapter we saw how his love for her meant that they would die from hands of their enemy. His love for her means that Eren would actually give up on their future and even though they would spend the rest of reminding time together life, it is not what he actually wants for her.
In ch.130 Eren gave the âI got 4 years to live at mostâ answer, because if he said that he doesnât love her it would be a plain lie, but if he openly said that he loves her, it would cause him to stop and go back. Again, it means that he gave up and Marley would kill everyone.
If you truly love the person, you will wish all the best for him/her. He wanted to give her the real future, not the false present and painful past.
Both of them didnât accept the alternative universe not because it was selfish, but because they understood that it is not right for them. In this world they simply canât have both. They wouldnât be happy in the alternative universe, because Eren would die from the curse and Mikasa would gave up on herself.
It was peaceful, but not perfect.
They wouldnât be happy in the reality, because Eren would die on his way of sacrificing himself and Mikasa would be devastated to lose him.
In both cases, they canât win. The only way to win was to accept it. Eren accepted his love and Mikasa faced her fear. Now, itâs up to Ymir to choose what to do next.

Also this check this out because itâs basically everything I say here lol and no, Iâm not after creditâbut I want to state some of my opinions/thoughts where Iâll use that tweet as my reference.

Letâs get this done with.
So I was actually rereading the manga all over again, especially the arcs where season 4 that consists of 16? episodes wonât be able to cover.
Will be talking about 122, 137 and 138 (since Iâll be setting them as my reference points for the manga panels)
I love to ask myself questions, but I came upon myself asking;
âWhat does Ymir want?â
Yes I know that she does want freedom, but thing is;
âWhat does she really want?â
So imma do a take on this.
(Iâm not as big brain as anyone lol srsly Iâm already failing at schoolâbut here I am)

In my POV, what I think she wants is what life is.
Like what does life bring? Why is living life important?
Itâs as if sheâs asking;
âWhat do they mean when they say, âLive your life to the fullest?â
In her timeline, growing up in a nature with cruelty and selfishness becoming a norm for people, she starts to slowly see that life is cheap and it could easily be thrown away as long as someone with enough power could do so.
Loving was impossible in such nature.
But one thing seemed to have an impact on her.
A couple kissing, showing their love for each other.
This quite changed her perspective about life, regarding love or feelings for someone.
It was possible.
That no matter how cruel this world is, love will show the beauty of itself.
Because of course, when reading love stories or watching romantic movies weâd see it as beautiful (not all of us, I mean I, myself, find them cringy lol jkjk)
For her, even if itâs just a plain couple kissing, it was big enough to let her know that such thing exists no matter the nature of the worldâwhether cruel or not.
But letâs take a look at her backstory where she had quite the opposite of what she wants where she waited 2000 years for someone or some people to show her.
1. Freedom (What is its value?)
They said she was âfreeâ, but it turns out it wasnât freedom at all. She was only used as a tool for people to practice hunting. She was still a slave, a tool to be used for something.
2. Purpose/Meaning of life (Why were we all born?)
In this one, in her times after she got her titan powers, used as a tool for war to crush Marley, she became pregnant and bore the kingâs child.
This is why when Maria (assuming it is because it looks like it) was born, she didnât smile.
Sheâs probably wondering, âWhats the purpose of being born? To grow up and multiply? To have something to keep living for? Then die?â
Where this was also said by Zeke to Armin:

The âsomethingâ he said must be what purpose is.
Maybe for Ymir, the reason why she kept going must be because she kept following King Fritzâ orders in order to try to live.
Even when King Fritz was gone, she continued following orders from descendants that were from the bloodline of royal blood (Fritz/Reiss is basically the same thing)

3. Love (What is unconditional love?)
Something King Fritz never showed to her.
She was only a concubine, a low-class for him.
Not his wifeânot even a queen to rule by his side.

For him, she was still a slave.
Not someone to share mutual feelings with.
Also connecting this no. 2, the king said, âRise. Work. That is why you were born.â which is clearly her PURPOSE for him and which became her mindset.
(Gurl even she got that titan power, she could never defy him)

For 2000 years, she mustâve been seeking for the true meaning behind the 3 I have mentioned, why she longed for someone to show them.
For her to see or even experience it herself.
Even watching and knowing what it is will do for her.
Which now brings me to EMA, what theyâve done to show her the meaning of the three.
1. Freedom
My favorite guy, Eren Freedom Yeagerâ
Anyway, of course the one to show the meaning of freedom will be Eren (too obvious man)
But how did he show it?
Looking back to 122, he clearly said these which made Ymir finally make her first ever choice out of free will.
No she doesnât want to end this world nor does Eren want to (donât take their words and actions literally)
âYouâre no slave.â
She wasnât a slave out of her choice, it was their system from before that brought her to being one.
âYouâre no god.â
When she got her titan powers, itâs as if she was a walking goddess who had a choice to crush Marley out of the Eldian kingâs prayers or something.
Basically if you prayed and prayed (depends on any religion if you do this, BUT for me, this is what I do lol) youâll get your wish.
And his wish was to crush Marley using her power.
Which she clearly did making her look like a goddess or something in the range.
âYouâre just a person.â
Now this.
This is when Ymir finally got what she also longed for, someone to treat her as a human, not a tool to win wars, not to be a tool to use to bear the kingâs children.
What was something Eren gave her to have be described as âshowing her what freedom isâ?
Eren gave her the right to choose whether to stay or end it all.
Knowing Ymir would still need an order to do so (idk I assume it again lol), Eren decided to order her to have her own free will and decide for herself. (Violet Evergarden intensifies)
And of course, since she was asked and given the right to choose, she picked the one where she feels like a better choiceâend it all.
âYou must have been waiting all this time. Waiting 2000 years just for someone.â
Yes, Eren. Sheâs been waiting 2000 years for you to show her what the value of freedom is and what it is like to decide on your own instead of following orders.
Her reaction to it.
It was a reaction of being glad that finally, after years of waiting, someone finally understood her and treated her as a humanâsomeone who doesnât see her as a tool to do somethingânot a fodder.
She finally understood the value of freedom, what itâs importance to life is.
So she could choose things sheâll regret the least or what she thinks is the right call in a situation.
2. Purpose/Meaning of life, what makes it beautiful?
In this one, letâs recall 137.
Armin and Zekeâs conversation.
So while Armin and Zeke while talking to each other about what is lifeâs purpose and all those stuffâIâm assuming Ymir was listening to their conversation.
And maybe it wasnât only Zeke who realized this, but Ymir as well.
That even if times could be cruel and youâd rather be doing the same thing, as long as it makes you happy, youâd still find yourself smiling despite being hurt by the world.
Since I assumed Ymir was listening to this, she finally understood that even something as simple and meaningless to others, as long as it meant something for you, it deserves to be cherished even if it were simple and boring to the eyes of others.
She finally understood another thing that makes life beautiful.
Itâs the memories you made and cherished that could be your strength to move on and how life deserves to be seen all throughoutâeven if the world despises you.
That you set the purpose of your life, not others, because you have the freedom to do so.
She mightâve not experienced this, but at least she heard it from someone who did and what their thoughts about it were.
3. Love
And then this.
Something that she also wanted to see for herself.
She wanted to know if it was indeed possible to love in this cruel world.
If you can still love someone who decided to let you go to become a monster for others.
And with a simple act such as âkissingâ (ignore the fact itâs a severed head gfdi), it made her believe that through life, you could find someone to share mutual feelings with, to love someone.
And how itâs not easy to live life without someone to love.
Because a loved one is your source of strength.
Your motivation to anything.
And this exactly made her smile.
She saw it herself, unconditional love.
Even if they became a monsterâor is a monsterâas long as you love them, youâd be able to forgive them and show them that for you, theyâre a human.

Letâs see what Ymir did after getting things she have longed for.
So since Eren showed her what itâs like to decide for your own, she helped him by lending her power to him.
For Armin, he showed/told her that life itself has a meaning and purpose and that is yours to decide what it would be, and the beauty of the memories you cherished.
Therefore, she helped him by letting past titan shifters fight with them in order to stop the rumbling.
But what would she do for Mikasa? Since sheâs smiling, I assume it was because she finally completed the puzzle sheâs been trying to solve ever since.
And it was about what life truly is and why people were born in the first place.
Manifesting my answer would be on ch.139 of what sheâd do for Mikasa.

Ymirâs act of kindness
I know that it might way too late to create some theories since we got only 1 chapter left, but I just want to say something...
I do know that itâs way too farfetched, but we did see Mikasa kissing Eren in the AU, which was projected into the ârealityâ, right? Ymir saw it and if she does something, it wonât be simply something like âMy ship sailed, I better take back the curse and yâall somehow go back to your houses, while corpses are lying everywheređâïžâ.
The curse is DIRECTLY linked to the existence of Paths. If Ymir DOES release the curse, the Paths and SHE will disappear.
What I am saying is that WHAT IF Ymir doesnât simply âmove onâ from Paths and lifts the curse, but ACTUALLY collide two alternative universes together??? The reality is war x titans/curses/paths and AU is peaceful life x war x titans/curses paths.
War x titans/curses/paths = Peaceful life x war x titans/curses/paths
The disappearance of Paths will mean that Ymir no longer exists and the world might reset (go to peaceful AU stage).
At this point, everyone in this story had a common wish, live a peaceful life.
After all the madness and cruelty Ymir witnessed, she wonât want to see it again. She already understood the value of freedom, trivial moments and love.
The last thing that Ymir will probably do for her own people isnât just regenerating Eren and eliminating the curse, but actually let them move to the stage when nothing related to titans happened.
She was the one who gave them this cruel life and she will be one who will end it.
Ymir will give them the peace they all craved for. The life everyone wanted, a long and one happy with people they love.

My stomach hurts really bad since i read the chapter, i was crying really bad and i also feel like throwing up. I cant concentrate on my school projects i need to do. I am freaking out. Hello, anonieđ„ș Oh my dear, itâs okay to feel that way! I literally went to bed at 3 am and woke up at 9 amđ And even tho I read the chapter and understood what is going on...I had such a bad anxiety in the morning, because my brain is kinda slow to actually realize some stuff...
I totally I understand you and trust me, I literally couldnât eat my breakfast because I was so overwhelmed with emotions and I didnât know what to even feel. My heart was beating like crazy and I wanted to throw up.
I still canât function properly and ngl, seeing the AU EM is making me cry and simply feel things. I am so overwhelmed with all these notifications and feedback I am receivingđđ
But nevertheless...I trust Isayama. He is trying to keep his readers hooked till the very end and he is doing that perfectly. I strongly believe that Ymir will do something about this curse and wonât let Eren, her subjects and Ackermans be like this. Eren was so kind to her and she will definitely return his kindness by regenerating him and breaking the curse.
We will be okay, anonie. We will get through this togetherđ„ș

Just because some people in this fandom care about the ship moment doesnât mean that itâs a justification of Erenâs actions. He will get his penalty. Chapter isnât out and we still donât know what exactly is happening. If you donât like it, move on. Itâs totally okay to not be in same boat as others.
But why enjoying an emotional moment that Isayama himself put into the last 3 chapters is a literal sin in this fandom? When we got other moments, it was perfectly fine, but when we switch to Mikasa and Eren itâs cliche, boring and literally everything negative??
AoT has a very good balance between keeping political atmosphere, fighting and emotional moments. But I just know that people will be salty no matter what.
People dislike current anime episodes because they are way too political and they got no brain cells to understand international affairs. People hate attack on Liberio, because it was too fast and they canât see their faves. Now itâs way too emotional, because everyone in AoT must be edgy and emotionless.

At first glance, he might look that way. But when he needs to, he can be stronger than anyone. Heâs always optimistic.
