🌽- our muses get lost in a corn maze together
@evanparkinscn
“You’d tell me if you didn’t know where you were going, wouldn’t you?” Cat asked with a slight smile, tilting her head up to Evan. Her hand was wrapped gently around his arm, a little confused about how long they had been walking in the corn maze.

“If you say so,” Ev teased a moment more before guiding them the way they were meant to go. At her next comment he almost stopped dead in his tracks, “Wait – while I’m a little relieved to hear it – why not? I’m doing everything right, aren’t I?”
Tumblr media
“You’re doing great, love. But I can tell how stressed you are just from how you’re holding yourself.” Her hands moved up his arms, feeling the tension in it. “And I’m stressed because you’re stressed. So we’ll stick to magical transport.”

“Are you saying you’d get jealous?” he couldn’t help but tease her. Evan knew she knew that he wouldn’t go around helping other girls, but he definitely liked that she admitted she’d miss him. “Okay you said… Westbound, correct?” Evan asked, looking to Cat to double check. Last thing he wanted was to mess up directions when they were however many feet under the ground.
Tumblr media
“Oh come on Ev, don’t be ridiculous.” She laughed a little, even as her mind was telling her at the same time that she absolutely would be jealous if he had the same relationship that he had with her, with someone else. “That’s right.” Cat nodded, holding onto his arm. “But I’m never getting the tube with you again.”

“Oh?” he chuckled, taking the unexpected compliment nevertheless. “You think I could make a career out of it?” Evan played on, bumping hips with her playfully. When they reached the bottom of the escalator, he nudged her again but this time with more direction, “It’s almost time to get off. Get ready to step off the moving stairs,” Evan instructed, making sure to keep a gentle hold on her.
Tumblr media
“I think that you really could. But you would be better off just taking care of me, I’d miss you if you were off taking care of other girls instead of me.” She stepped off the stairs at the bottom, holding on to him.

Evan made note of her instructions as the two passed the barriers with their Oyster cards. He eyed the signs leading them towards the red line and they reached the escalator to take them to the correct platform. “Okay, we’re approaching the escalator,” he announced, taking her right hand and placing it on the conveyer belt that served as the railing to try and help her gain her bearings. Once she got on, Evan got on the step right behind her and made sure to keep a hand on her waist. “I’ll tell you when we reach the bottom and you should get off.”
Tumblr media
She smiled as he helped her, murmuring her thanks as she steadied herself, feeling the warmth of his hand on her waist with a gentle smile to herself. “You know you’re getting pretty good at this leading a blind girl around thing. With your charming personality you could probably make a career out of it. I’m sure plenty of people would love for a handsome guy to just lead them around, blind or not.”

“Yes, yes you are.” He couldn’t help but chuckle a little at her comment. Mainly because he could imagine the horror on his parents’ faces if they heard such a thing. “I swear I’m trying my best,” Evan replied, listening to the rest of her instructions and looking around at the signs and signals. “Okay so there’s a red and a yellow line?” he described to her, seeing that there were two different sets of escalators they could go down. “Which one are we taking or is there no difference?”
Tumblr media
She smirked a little when he asked about the different lines, hand still wrapped around his arm. “It’s the red one. We’re going Westbound.” She told him, making sure he would know where they were going when they got to the bottom of the escalator. “You’re going to need to tell me when we’re getting on the escalator.”

Evan opened his mouth to contradict but then shut it before choosing his next words, “You– you make a good point there.” He made sure to keep her close as more people seemed to flood in and out of the station. “An escalator…” he repeated, trying to shuffle through the knowledge in his mind to figure out what she was talking about. “Oh! Those are those moving stairs right? Not the same as in Hogwarts but they move regardless?” he guessed, hoping he had got something right.
Tumblr media
“I’m full of good points.” She replied with a laugh, pressing close to him side as they moved through the barriers. “We need the central line, there should be arrows. But yes, escalators are like that. We get on them and then we don’t move until we get to the bottom.” Cat smiled, holding tight to his hand. “You’re getting better at being a muggle.”

“Virtual– okay the muggle world makes literally zero sense,” he convinced himself, taking the card she held out to him and looking at it like it was an artefact from an alien planet. Despite this, he listened to Cat’s instructions, “Okay, got it. Wide barrier, yellow scanner. We’ve got this,” Evan repeated with a little nod, his expression softening to a smile when she rested her head upon his shoulder. “Five minutes? This mode of transportation is pretty fast. I mean not faster than Floo or apparating, but faster than a car or a train for sure.”
Tumblr media
“Most muggles would say that the wizard world makes no sense.” She replied with a smile, linking her arm around his tighter, knowing how the press of stations could separate her from her guide. Cat giggled a little at his words, shaking her head a little. “Do you know what an escalator is?”

“So you don’t need money? How… muggles are weird,” Evan furrowed his eyebrows together in obvious confusion, but let her pull him along. This station wasn’t too packed, but Evan could definitely understand how this place could be claustrophobic. “How far will it be to get to the city from here?”
Tumblr media
“Well you do need money, but it’s already loaded onto the card. It’s virtual money.” She replied, handing him his card. “You have to press it onto the yellow scanner. There should be a barrier which is wider, so that we can go through together, so I don’t land on my face.” Cat smiled a little, resting her head on his shoulder for a moment. “We’re already in the city, but we just need to get to a different part. It’ll be about five minutes honestly.”

“Oyster card – what? Aren’t oysters those clam things in the ocean?” he squinted at her, unclear on pretty much everything when it came to many muggle things, especially this form of muggle transportation. “How is that little plastic card going to help us with the Tube?”
Tumblr media
“Come on, Evan you’ve just got to trust me.” She assured him, squeezing his hand gently. “It’s how you pay for the tube.” Cat explained, feeling the flooring change denoting stairs and reaching her free hand for the handrail.

Scanning their surroundings, he eventually caught sight of a blue and red sign. “Yeah, I see it. It’s this way,” Evan replied, leading her in the direction of it. “Is it bad that I’m still a little nervous about taking the Tube?”
Tumblr media
“It’s not bad that you’re nervous. Mostly funny.” She laughed, reaching her free hand down to her bag and feeling for a particular thing. “I brought you an Oyster card that you can use.”

“I hope you know if I die today that whole trust thing goes out the window, you got it?” Evan added, mostly teasing as she pulled him along.
Tumblr media
“Well if you die then I won’t need you to trust me anymore, will I?” She asked with a laugh, stopping when they were out of the pub proper. “Can you see the Underground sign? Blue and red. Says Underground on it.”

“It’s not that I don’t trust you. I just don’t trust… it,” he admitted, sighing a little when Cat took a hold of his arms. “You I trust.”
Tumblr media
“Well then keep trusting me and come on the tube. You’ll like it.” She promised, pulling on his hand to head out of the pub.

“You know, if you want to speak to them, you should probably do that now before you lose your chance.” Theo prompted, noting the staring that had been happening but very little else.
Tumblr media
Cat laughed, recognising the voice and shaking her head a little. “If I was staring at someone, I didn’t meant to be. It’s pretty hard to stare at anyone when I can’t see them, even if I want to be staring.”

“The tube?” Evan echoed as if it were the antagonist in a horror movie, “Are you sure? We’d probably get lost down there floo’s probably better.”
Tumblr media
“Oh come on, Ev.” She stopped them, moving to stand in front of him and hold onto both of his arms. “What are you afraid of? Don’t you trust me?”

He ducked his head slightly, perhaps she was right. The two walked together, Cat holding onto him for guidance. “So, where should we floo?” he asked as they began to near a fireplace they could use. “As in where in muggle London is the nearest fireplace to where our first stop is.”
Tumblr media
She held onto his arm as they walked, trying to remember the nearest fireplace they could get to. “There’s a shop we can floo too. It’s in muggle London, but it’s still connected to the network. Or if you want the true muggle experience we could take the tube.” Cat suggested, grinning up to where she thought his face probably was.
