I’ve been binging on a lot of tv shows lately and sometimes when I consume a lot of a series, it really starts to consume the rest of my life. I always find myself looking for books that are similar to the show I’m enjoying. Today I decided to go with that notion and finally put together a list that I think coincides nicely with the shows. Now I choose books that were already on my radar/wish list. I also know that in the case of Charmed and Buffy, there are adaptation books and I decided to disregard those simply because it seemed redundant.
Charmed: Spellbook of the Lost and Found
My best friend and I have been marathoning Charmed together every Sunday and its turned Sundays into one of the best days of the week. We get together and bake up something delicious, lately, we’ve been on a scone kick, and we’ll watch a few episodes of Charmed, the 1990 version with Shannon Dorthey and Alyssa Milano.
Spellbook for the Lost and Found popped up in several lists when I was googling for recommendations and since it was already on my wish list I choose this one.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms
I went with this instead of Slayer or any of the comic books, I choose this one because I heard there’s a redemption arc that fans of Spike and Angel would approve of.
Gilmore Girls Someday, Someday Maybe
How could I not choose a book written by Loreli Gilmore herself, I’ve already read a Lauren Graham book and really enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to reading another.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows
This one was hard to make a decision for, I couldn’t find a book that felt like it fully compared to what I like about the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel but I’ve also been having some luck with Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks and this is on that list too, so I get to kill two birds with one stone.
Downtown Abbey The American Heiress
This is a book that’s been on my radar for a long time, I just love that cover it always catches my eye. This was one several book recommendation lists and I’m looking forward to reading it.
The Great British Baking Show Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe
I choose this purely based on the cover and title and I hope that lives up to my expectations. It also has recipes and I can’t deny that it tipped the scales in its favor.
I’m really interested in these picks.
If you’ve done something similar or you think there’s a better book for any of these picks please let me know! I hope to be able to update in a couple months about what I think of these and how they correspond with the shows.

WWW Wednesday 10/30
Tumblr media
My first WWW Wednesday in a month. I think I’ve finally hit a rhythm in my job where I feel caught up enough to take the 15 minutes to draft today’s post.
I have been in such a slumpy mood lately and I’m tired so I start reading and slowly just fall asleep. So I have just been binging on tv lately and not anything new either. I’ve just been rewatching favorite episodes of Family Guy and Brooklyn…

Writing when you’re in a funk a.k.a me right now and NaNoWriMo is right around the corner!
Someone, please save me from myself!
Tumblr media
I have a slight confession, that no one will be surprised by, but I haven’t been preparing for NaNoWriMo.
If you read my long rambling post last week where I basically made 3 or 4 excuses about how busy my life became and how I am barely able to handle it, then this really should be no surprise to anyone.

Hello Everyone!
Its been a while since I’ve posted anything so I thought I would post about what’s been going on in my life and what’s coming up.
Catching Up
On October 1st I started a new job. I’m still with the same organization that I’ve been at but I’m working for a new department. I was in Executive services for 8 years but the organization is creating a Parks and Recreation department so I moved there at the beginning of the month. It has been a change that’s for sure.
This job is keeping me incredibly busy, I got more emails in three days then I did in an entire month as exec. That has played a huge part in the decrease in my blog posting. In my previous job, I had a lot more downtime and I used it to draft blog posts, listen to audiobooks, even write during NaNoWriMo. Right now though I’m still trying to manage my job tasks and work on time management with my projects…which is something that I’ve never had to do before. So many new things, its kinda cool, but I still feel lost and over my head with my job.
Shortly before I started my job my best friend got a new puppy, her name is Freya and she’s a Shepard/Akita/Malamute mix, she is one of the most precious things. I absolutely adore her, which is good because I’ve been watching her during the day while my friend is at work. I honestly forgot just how much work puppies are and how destructive they can be when they’re bored. Its been a good refresher since Corey really wants a dog but at the moment there’s no way.
I’ve been watching Freya mostly because I own my house and plan to renovate the room that she stays in during the day anyways, my friend, on the other hand, rents her home and would lose her deposits if Freya ripped up a chunk of carpet…true story. Despite loving her, she’s been taking up a pretty big chunk of my time as well.
In more really exciting news, I recently went on a road trip to Boise, Idaho. Kind of random right? Boise was about an 8 and a half-hour drive from where I live, it was so long and such a boring drive. I went through Oregon on the I-84 highway and omg once we passed the Dalles there was just nothing for miles.
We drove to Boise to see one of my all-time favorite bands, A Day To Remember, perform live. It was so much fun, I’ve been a fan of theirs since 2009 and have been dying to see them perform ever since, but I was always missing them in Washington and I hadn’t seen them schedule anything for Washington in years. Finally, I was looking at their tour dates and saw Boise, checked Google Maps saw it was only 8 hours…to me it was doable. I don’t have kids, I had the vacation hours, and Corey knew just how long I’ve waited to see these guys so we decided to go.
I had so much fun and in all honesty, I was joking with Corey about becoming a roadie for them and going along with the rest of the tour because I wasn’t done having a good time after the concert, I wanted to keep partying and singing. It was such fun and such a good concert, I was in General Admission which is my preferred when I go to a concert. So I was on the floor jumping around and screaming, I loved it. I actually lost my voice for a couple of days from singing along.
10/10 would see them again and would travel to see them again.
I think I’m a Social Butterfly? We had such an unusual week that this is now a running joke between Corey and me. We are both introverted hermits. We generally don’t like going out and would much rather stay home than go out. But in one week we drove to and from Idaho, went to a concert, had family over, hung out with friends, went to a movie, a football game, went out to dinner with family, and drove to Seattle to pick up a family member from the airport.
I’m exhausted just from typing that, I don’t know how I went through all of it. To us, thats an insane amount of things for us to do in a week. I keep thinking about the meme with the guy and the butterfly.
What I’ve read lately
I haven’t had much time to read lately, which is bumming me out so much. I have read two books so far for October, wish it was more but oh well. I’ve been in the mood for mysteries lately so I read One of Us Is Lying and Two Can Keep A Secret both by Karen McManus. While I enjoyed both of them, I really prefer Two Can Keep a Secret more. It was so good and intense, I didn’t see any of the plot twists coming and I desperately want a sequel. I wish TCKAS was getting the sequel instead of One of Us is Lying, theres totally room to continue on with the story and what happens next.
Looking forward
Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon
This weekend is the Deweys 24 Hour Readathon and you know that I’m participating. I have a TBR pile that I’m excited about but my goals for this round are a little different. Instead of trying to read ‘X’ amount of books, I want to read ‘x’ amount of pages for each book. Since I’ve been so busy lately and have had to move reading and blogging to my back burners, it’s put me in a bit of a reading slump. So I just want to use this round of the readathon to jump-start my interest in my favorite hobby. On my TBR I have Renegades by Marissa Meyer, Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski, A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro, and The Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl by Theodora Goss.
Now, there is no way I can read all of those in 24 hours, and I know that. What I want to do is read anywhere from 100 to 200 pages of each and just get my interest piqued.
NaNoWriMo
I am planning on doing NaNoWriMo again this year, after my win last year, I want to try again. Even with knowing that I may not have as much time as I did last year to dedicate, I still think I can do it.
This year’s project is going to be different, and when I say different, I really mean different from anything else I’ve ever done.
I really enjoying writing darker themed fantasy and last year I wrote a Poison Ivy fanfic going into her origin and how she became a villain.
This year, I plan on writing a more lighthearted urban fantasy, I never thought I would say that. This project is currently referred to by me as Project Mystic and is about a small town that is comprised of a witch community. I love the idea of taking the idea of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls and adding in a strong witch community with witches of various practices,  and then a new family moves to town for the first time in generations. Chaos and hilarious hijinks go on from there. I love the idea and I think it could so funny. I’ve never written a comedy before so I have high hopes for this.
Going to see Marissa Meyer
During November I also plan on going to Marissa Meyers book signing for Supernova in Tacoma. I am so excited and thats why Renegades is on my TBR for the readathon, I really need to catch up on her new trilogy. I’m so excited for this because I get to meet up with a cousin and she’s coming with me to the signing, so its gonna be a great time.
Well, that’s what’s been going on in my life lately, if you read all the way through to here, thank you so much for sticking with my rambling. I hope to get back on track with managing my time and being able to post more, that way I’ll avoid another rambly post like this one.

Well, this is a short wrap up.
I didn’t do a lot of reading this month, I started off feeling pretty slumpy, I still blame The Art of Racing in the Rain. Since I tried to push through that, my reading was very slow and I didn’t exactly choose a book that drew me in and excited me to read. It was another AORITR scenario.
This has also been a ridiculously busy month for me, I went with my best friend to pick up her new puppy and I’ve also been letting her puppy stay with me during the workweek days. I completely forgot how much work puppies are and how I basically can’t turn my back on them for longer than 5 seconds. This is kind of way I have cats, less work in my opinion.
But let’s get into my wrap up.
Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins My rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
I’m so sad that I didn’t like this, I wanted to so badly and I was looking forward to it so much, but it just wasn’t for me. This book is so short and focuses heavily on the two characters and this quick hate to love romance, I just wish it had been longer. I wanted more Scotland settings and a longer draw out of the relationship developing. This book is under three hundred pages and it still took me a week to drag through it.
Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed reading this, it pulled me out of my slump, and its a great wrap up to one of my favorite series. The story was well paced, I didnt feel like it was dragging at all for me and all of the character arcs came to a satisfying conclusion. I felt like each arc ended in a fitting way for each sister that was true to them. I’m so sad that this is over but I cant wait to see what Kendare Blake comes up with next.
Educated by Tara Westover my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I decided to switch up my reading and went with a non-fiction memoir, this has been on the bestsellers lists for a long time, Bill Gates even made a video where he recommended reading this, all of that was enough hype to convince me to buy and read it.
I really enjoyed it, her life has been so unusual, I can honestly say that I don’t know another human being with any kind of similar life story. There were many points where I had to remind myself that this isn’t some kind of dystopian story, that it was her childhood and I felt constantly horrified that two parents would feel good about themselves to be raising their children the way that these parents did.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I found myself to be in the mood for a mystery novel and decided to go with Truly Devious, it took me a while to get into the story and get used to the storyline and also it took a moment to get used to Stevie’s personality. I was expecting more of a Sherlock Holmes personality and she’s not quite like that, so that threw me for a bit.
I’m also happy whenever I’m unable to figure out a mystery novel before the plot twist is revealed, but I also didn’t try to think about everything or try to solve anything, I just wanted to sit back and enjoy the story.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and continue on with everything.
Favorite of the Month: Five Dark Fates Least Favorite of the Month: Her Royal Highness
September Wrap Up 2019 Well, this is a short wrap up. I didn't do a lot of reading this month, I started off feeling pretty slumpy, I still blame The Art of Racing in the Rain.

I am in such a mood this week, I’ve been really stressed for the last few weeks and I’ve had a rough couple of days of just getting kicked when I’m down. Because of all this, I’ve noticed that my mood has been like “fuck it” for the last couple of days.
My apathy levels are through the roof so I have this attitude of I don’t care, it sucks and I know that but I just seem to have something
I hate…

Happy First Day of Fall!
Just FYI this post is going to be 100% cliche basic white girl. I apologize but only slightly, now to proceed with an onslaught of cliches.
1. “Ah Fall, my time to shine.”
2.”I am a total autumn person and I love this time of year.”
3.”I love feeling cozy and fall is a perfect and preferred time, where I live it’s not too cold so I get to snuggle with lots of cozy blankets and sweaters, drink massive amounts of tea and coffee, and read all the books!”
4.”It is my ideal reading season because it’s usually pouring down rain and who wants to go outside in the rain? Not me.”
As I was typing this up all I could think about was The Office and Phyllis with her rainy day cliches and now I can’t take this post seriously.
Tumblr media
With fall on my horizon, I’ve been looking for some mystery novels to enjoy with the foggy atmosphere that I know is coming.
I feel like fall and winter is ideal for fantasy, mystery, and historical fiction books. They just invoke feelings of cozy for me and the book atmosphere is just enhanced by the weather outside.
5. “I can’t wait for the season of blankets, baking, sweaters, candles, and warm beverages.”
Here’s my tbr and I would love any recommendations in fantasy and historical fiction. Right now I just can’t seem to get enough.
One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M McManus
These two books seemed like quintessential mystery reads for this year, I’ve been seeing a lot of hype and I’m curious to see what I think about them.
A Study in Scarlett Women by Sherry Thomas
I love that cover, as I was searching through Amazon for mystery novels this kept showing up in my recommendations and after reading the description I knew I had to get it.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
This has been on my TBR for a while but I decided to hold off on it until the fall and to be a little bit closer to the release date of book 3.
The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about this everywhere on my Twitter page and its piqued my curiosity and since I’m in the mood for mysterys I had to get it.
In the Woods by Tana French
I first saw this on Emmmabooks’ channel on Youtube and then it was part of a Barnes and Noble “Buy Two Get One Free” promotion so I picked it up. The Dublin setting is calling my name and I’m hoping for lots of creepy forest atmosphere.
The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I cant set a Fall TBR full of mystery books and not include my beloved Sherlock Holmes. Since this book is 1096 pages, I plan to approach it with the same method I used to read It, I divided the book up into sections and read a small number of pages every day.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve been a fan of Leigh Bardugo’s books for years, I believe that I have read all of her books and I am beyond excited to read this adult novel. This book has nothing to do with the Grishaverse, it sounds dark, twisted, and intense.
The Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl by Theodora Goss
I don’t want this trilogy to end! This is the concluding novel to the Athena Club trilogy, I devoured The Strange Case of the Alchemists Daughter and European Travel for the Monsterous Gentlewoman earlier this year, I love both of those books and they’re already on my favorites for this year. I cant wait to see how everything wraps up.
Renegades by Marissa Meyer
I still have not read this but Marissa Meyer is doing a book signing in my state this November, so a friend and I are tentatively planning on attending and being able to meet for the first time at her Supernova signing. Now would be the perfect time to binge-read Renegades and Archenemies.
Alright, now I’m off to go stock up on tea and anything pumpkin spice related.
What’s on your TBR for this season?
My Fall TBR Happy First Day of Fall! Just FYI this post is going to be 100% cliche basic white girl.

The Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein
I really did not enjoy this and I kind of forced myself to get through and I wish I hadn’t because now I feel like I’m in a slump.
What are you currently reading?

Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins
I’m hoping that this can pull me out of my slump, it should be a quick read and I’m hoping for lots of cuteness.
What do you think you’ll read next?
DarkDawn by Jay Kristoff
Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake
Two of my most anticipated reads of the year. I’m also sad because these are both concluding novels and I don’t want them to end.
So there are my plans for the week, hopefully I can break through this reading slump quickly.

Another month has come and gone, this year is going by so fast and I’m not ready for what fall and winter will bring on. I’m already exhausted by the thought of all the socializing I’m going to have to do for the holidays. But I have an event planned for almost every month for the rest of the year so thats exciting.
But lets talk about the reading I did for August.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this and thought it was a perfect start to my month, I know there are some mixed reviews on this and I can see where those are coming from but if anyone has ever read any of my Leigh Bardugo reviews, you know that my favorite character she has written is Zoya. And the fact that she had her own POV and her own story to tell love, she’s my fave and this solidifies it.
Aurora Rising by Amie Kauffman and Jay Kristoff my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This was such a fun sci-fi read. I love the action and the school setting, the characters all felt so real and fleshed out. I think my favorite thing about the book was the chapter dividers of the files about the different divisions, history, alien species. Those dividers filled in so much about the world without being overwhelming or info-dumpy.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I picked this up thinking that I was simply going to enjoy it or merely like it, but I was wrong, I loved it. I’ve thought about it so much since and I loaned it to my grandma when I finished it because she lived in Alaska though not as off-grid as the characters. Lenny reminded me a lot of Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird, they had similar narrative styles and a similar naivety. Also, the descriptions Kristin Hannah uses to build the setting of Alaska was magical.
The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I’m not sure what to say about this, it was fantastic and well written. I loved that Nassun had her POV so we got to learn what was going on with her and her journey.
The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This was an incredible finale, everything came together so nicely and had a really satisfying ended.
Sorry, I’m Late, I didn’t want to come. by Jessica Pan my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Since I don’t read a lot of non-fiction, I’m very picky about the books that I’m willing to take a chance on, and I’m glad that I did with this book. I related so much to Jessica Pan in her struggles and adventure. I did write a review that has more of my thoughts on it.
Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Oh, my heart! I don’t even have words for this. Alex and Henry were fantastic characters and all of the minor characters were fleshed out as well. All of the interactions were just amazing. Alex had so much sass that I couldn’t get enough of, he had me constantly laughing and I would have to stop to read passages aloud to my bf because I knew he would find it funny as well.
The Dazzling Heights by Katherine McGee my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Last month I read The Thousandth Floor and really enjoyed it, since then I’ve been really looking forward to reading the Dazzling Heights but it was a little bit of a letdown. I was a bit bored with the plot and the characters actions, some of the interactions didn’t feel believable and at one point I kind of stopped caring, there’s a point in the story were the actions and motivations take a 180 out of nowhere and suddenly enemies are friends again and someone is in love with someone else and I just didn’t care for the execution. I do have the Towering Sky on my TBR so I’m going to give it a shot and see if the story gets better, but I read the synopsis and I have to say that I am very confused. It feels like there could be a whole new book that goes in-between book 2 and 3.
Girls on the Verge by Sharon Biggs Waller my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I’m always a sucker for some girl power feminist centered novels and you get a lot of that in here. Even though there’s some man-bashing that isn’t appreciated I was able to set that aside and still enjoy it. The journey and struggles are very real things that women have to face and I admire Sharon for being able to write something that is so personal and vulnerable.
The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
This was a bit of an impulse both as a buy and a read but I was looking for something quick to read to get me in the reading mood and this definitely helped. It took me a moment to get used to the verse writing but it’s such a powerful story and the poetry style really enhances it.
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein my rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
I’m sad to say that I didn’t really enjoy this, I really struggled to get through this and as a result, I kind of feel myself to be in a bit of a slump right now. I couldn’t really get into the story and so many of the characters didn’t feel real to me if you told me that some of them were imaginary characters that Enzo created I would fully believe you with no questions asked. Sadly this just wasn’t for me and was a disappointing end to the month.
Favorite of the Month: The Great Alone, I’ve thought about this a lot since I’ve finished it. Least Favorite of the Month: The Art of Racing in the Rain, Just not the book for me.
August 2019 Wrap Up Another month has come and gone, this year is going by so fast and I'm not ready for what fall and winter will bring on.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would and I had already thought that I would enjoy it but I didn’t think that I was going to love it, but I did. It’s fantastic and well written, it’s heartbreaking yet endearing. I honestly want more.
The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin
So I read The Obelisk Gate and the Stone Sky back to back. Because of this, I’m not sure where one ended and the other began. I loved seeing more of Nassun in this installation and seeing her thoughts and struggles with who she is and who she’s expected to be.
The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin
I really enjoyed this, the ending was fantastic and seeing how everything came together just shows what a great writer Jemisin is. I already can’t wait to reread this series. There were a couple points where I felt lost within the story and unsure about what was going on but that feeling didn’t take anything away from the story at all.
Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want To Come by Jessica Pan
I don’t read a lot of nonfiction and because of that, I like to try to branch out at points. I choose this one since it’s about her experiences as an introvert and pushing the boundaries that she felt being an introvert had limited her too. I really related to her in more way than one, not only did I relate because shes and introvert and I’m an introvert, I related to her thoughts and her thought process, her fears were so similar to my fears, and most of all I related to her humor.
What are you currently reading?
Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
I’m very excited to start this up today, I’ve been hearing so many good things about it and I am very ready for some lightheartedness.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m not sure what I want to read next, I’m planning on going camping over this weekend, I’m not sure how much reading I can get done if that’s the case.
I might bring two books with me just to see how much I can read. The books coming to mind are The Bride Test and The Dazzling Heights.
OR, I just bought Into The Wild and since I’m going camping, that seems like a good camping book, right?
Tell me what you think I should read this weekend.
WWW Wednesday 8/14 Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week and reading some great books. I've had a wonderful reading week and cant wait to talk about it!

I’ve been doing really well on my book buying lately which is something that I’m really proud of. I’m hoping to get to these soon but I’m such a mood reader that it could go either way. Most of these are sequels too.
Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine
I picked this up from Half Price Books that day I was stuck in Tacoma for 8 hours, This was about 5 dollars and I figured why not.
The Midnight Queen by Slyvia Izzo Hunter
Another Half Price books deal, I had been eyeing this book at Barnes and Noble for a while because the cover is just so beautiful and there’s a school setting that sounds like something I am going to enjoy. Again, why not?
The Dazzling Heights by Katherine McGee
The Thousandth Floor leaves you on such a massive cliffhanger that I needed to get my hands on this right away and now that all my readathons are over I can start this really soon.
Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence
I needed this after finishing Red Sister and I’m hoping to get to it soon.
Assassins Creed Odyssey by Gordon Doherty
This was such an impulse buy but I love love love this video game, I honestly can’t get enough. I’ve logged in 72 hours of gameplay. That should tell you how addicted I am. So I had to get this and I’m hoping to really like it so I can check out the other novelizations.
July 2019 Book Haul I've been doing really well on my book buying lately which is something that I'm really proud of.

I am so tired this week, I feel like a bear getting ready for hibernation because most of what I want to do is eat and go to bed, but I’m also experiencing some insomnia so even though I’m tired, I can’t sleep. Yay. That’s where reading comes in so its all okay. Right?
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words. Simply answer the following questions:
What did you recently finish reading?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What did you recently finish reading?
What a fantastic reading week! I loved everything that I read over the week and couldn’t ask for better books.
Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
I honestly don’t even have words for this, I enjoyed every single minute of reading it. Even though it is massive, it reads very quickly and even though I am satisfied with how the story ended for everyone, I really want more of this world.
Vengeful by V.E. Schwab
Oh I loved this so much, I loved Marcella and her storyline, and I’m hoping to learn more about June in the next book. Fingers crossed!
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
I think my favorite thing about this is how the Grishaverse expanded, even more, I wouldn’t have thought that possible after the Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. I just feel like I learned more about the Grishaverse and that’s awesome that there’s more to learn. Zoya is my everything, I was so happy to learn more about her, and Nina broke my heart over and over. I can’t wait for book 2.
Aurora Rising by Amie Kauffman and Jay Kristoff
This is such a fun sci-fi read, all of these characters are really fleshed out and I loved how the files dividing chapters were able to inform the reader about the world and alien species without it feeling info-dumpy or overwhelming.
What are you currently reading?
The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin
I am so excited to continue on with the Broken Earth trilogy, N.K. Jemisin has such a unique writing style that I cant wait to read more of.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
I’ve been intending to read this for so long and I’m finally going to do it! This is going to fulfill one of the challenges for the Goodreads Summer Reading, the prompt is “Good as gold: Read a book that won a Goodreads Choice Award.”
What do you think you’ll read next?
Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
I can’t wait to read this, the hype is so real for it and it sounds like it’s all well deserved, I think after Obelisk Gate and Great Alone I’m probably going to be in the mood for something light-hearted since those two have serious and probably heartbreaking topics discussed. This is going to fulfill the prompt “New voices: Read a debut novel,” for the Goodreads Summer Reading
Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come by Jessica Pan
Again with the desire for lightheartedness, if I was smart, I would have split them up in between the serious books. Again if. Oh well, my heart will just have to survive. This book sounds hilarious and relatable and I’m using it to fulfill the prompt  “Stranger than fiction: Read a nonfiction book published this year.” for the Goodreads Summer Reading Challenge
I’m feeling like I’m going to be accomplishing a lot regarding reading this week. If all goes to plan I’ll have read three books for three prompts in the summer challenge.
What are you reading this week?
WWW Wednesday 8/7 I am so tired this week, I feel like a bear getting ready for hibernation because most of what I want to do is eat and go to bed, but I'm also experiencing some insomnia so even though I'm tired, I can't sleep.

July was a pretty good reading month for me, even though I had placed a lot of pressure on myself to participate in a couple readathons and that stress kind of took a toll on me, I still had a good time and that’s important.
I am very proud of the amount I was able to read, I did end up reading a total of 16 books but I did not fully stick to my tbrs.
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
I had a hard time with this book, I didn’t care for the first-person perspective at first because it made the character seem really good at spying when she was pretty terrible at it, but once the character was called out on her bullshit I began to enjoy it a lot more. Aside from that, the rest of the book was pretty mediocre for me, I’m not sure if I’m going to continue on with the series.
The Falconer by Elizabeth May my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
This was another one I had some mixed feelings about, I loved the Steampunk Edinburgh setting and I desperately wish that there had been illustrations because you can bet that I would have poured over those.
Charlottes Web by E.B. White my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I read this to fulfill one of the challenges for the Goodreads Summer Reading Challenge, the challenge was to reread a book you loved when you were younger. I used to love Charlottes Webs and I still enjoyed this reread but I did find myself getting annoyed with Wilburs attitude.
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This was so weird for me! I think this was a reread for me like maybe I read this over ten years ago but I don’t remember reading this, I love the movie and have seen the movie several times but I kept remembering little details and minor characters that aren’t mentioned or referenced in the movie. So I must have read this before but I just don’t remember. I did really love it, I love the storyline and Chiyros journey.
European Travel for the Monsterous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I love this series and I have so many good things to say about it, its so fun to read and see all of these classic gothic horror characters. I just can’t get enough.
Captain Marvel Volume 1: In Pursuit of Flight by Kelly Sue DeConnick my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this, the art style alone is fantastic, it has a bit of a Zack Snyder feel to it, like some of his movies have that gray overcast and this had that as well. There was also this badass women’s squad fighting in world war 2 and they all had fun and spunky personalities. Just an overall fun read.
Red Sister by Mark Lawrence my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Idk why but I had a really hard time getting into this world. I think I’m going to reread this soon and I feel like I’ll have a better time around since I’ll be a little more familiar.
The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this, I was a little surprised by how much I loved this because I had heard quite a few mixed reviews. I did think that the storyline was a little basic and predictable but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable and the world-setting is so interesting and really makes up for it. This is another case like the Falconer where I wish there were some illustrations.
The Golem and the Jinni by Helen Wecker my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I was pleasantly surprised by this, this was a case where I couldnt remember why I owned a copy of this. I dont remember buying a copy, I dont remember being given a copy of it, but am I glad I had a copy because I really enjoyed this. Chava and Ahmed were really cool characters to read about and see how they interacted with the world. The story wove together in a really amazing way and tied all the characters together very nicely.
Meet Cute by Helena Hunting my rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
I fell so let down by this book, I did write an entire review for this expressing why I was let down so I won’t go into much detail here.
The Husbands Secret by Liane Moriarty my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
This was another one that I felt kind of let down and underwhelmed about. If I had read this before Big Little Lies I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It was a bit predictable and some of the drama wasn’t quite believable.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed this as I was reading it, the characters are interesting and the fact that everything is taking place a thousand years apart is also interesting. I’m excited to see where the story is going from where it left off, most of book 1 felt like a build-up so I’m expecting book 2 to be explosive.
Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
OH MY GOD. That’s it. That’s all I got. Just OH MY GOD. I haven’t stopped thinking about this ever since I finished it, I almost want to reread it, it’s phenomenal and I don’t know what to say or what I can say, just this is worth the hype. I loved everyone and everything.
Vengeful by V.E. Schwab my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
You should all know by know how I feel about V.E. Schwab and her books if you don’t the words “pure love” might sum it up accurately and completely. This book was no expection, I felt like I couldnt breath I was in so much anticipation. Marcella is an amazing villain and I just wanted more of her.
Favorite Book of the Month: European Travel Least Favorite Book of the Month: Meet Cute
July 2019 Wrap Up July was a pretty good reading month for me, even though I had placed a lot of pressure on myself to participate in a couple readathons and that stress kind of took a toll on me, I still had a good time and that's important.
