YES!!!! now im imagining a were-coyote,,,
i love applying biology/zoology/evolution to fictional creatures.
would griffons from different regions evolve to mimic birds in their environment? would the cat half also evolve to be optimized for the environment? a griffon from the maasai mara might be part vulture and part cheetah. it could be part lion, yes, but cheetahs are relatively lightweight for big cats and would have the highest chance of success in flight.
unicorns in colder climates might be built more like draft horses. unicorns in general would probably have curved horns, better for grappling and also less brittle. maybe unicorns in mountainous regions would evolve hooves similar to that of mountain goats, to be able to climb the sheer cliffs with ease.
ents might be biologically similar to crabs or snails, their bark exterior like a protective shell able to root itself in place while the ent soaks up nutrients from the ground. maybe knotholes in its bark are peepholes, little spots for eyes to peer through.
i could write about this kinda stuff for HOURS, meshing reality and fantasy together is so very interesting!!

sometimes at night i like to go out to the backyard and let out the most unnerving, mangled screech i can muster. just to remind the creatures who’s boss. remind em they’re on MY territory.
its also very therapeutic! highly recommend :)
