It’s almost as if nobody wants to admit that they might not be prepared to do the work it takes to love somebody. And it can be laborious. To be intimate with someone who is flawed (which is the standard) requires us to expose our own flaws. We don’t talk about the heavy responsibility of that. We don’t talk about how we’re too lazy or too cowardly sometimes. We instead accuse love of being elusive. It isn’t. It is omnipresent. It asks us to be better people. And sometimes we flat out refuse.

"I would never-"
You would if you were tired enough. You would if you were hungry enough. You would if your mind and body had been worn down enough, through pain or disease or toil or violent struggle. You might if you were put on the wrong medicine, or you got the wrong kind of head injury, or you were forced to choose between someone else and yourself. You might if your livelihood was staked on it, or all your hopes and dreams. You might if you didn't know what else to do, if it's what you were taught or if nobody taught you anything else.
I have not been worn down in most of these ways. I have lived a remarkably privileged life. But I have been worn down in some ways. And they were enough to teach me that in the wrong circumstances, any of us can become someone we don't want to be. It's worth keeping that in mind.

sending each other memes and funny videos and giggling over them is not friendship. friendship is when you are willing to stick with the person through hard times. "your friends are not your therapists" you are a bad person. hope that helps!
i fucking hate it when people weaponize therapy speak in normal everyday situations. widespread misuse of terms like "gaslighting" "boundaries" "ocd" "trauma dumping" almost made human connection feel illegal

rhcp fave live performance ~ no.2 ~ !!
yertle triology @ bizarre festival 1999
was music truly invented until the lyrical poetry of merging the burping little turtle named mack with fucking them just to see the look on their face with then also doing the cosmic slop? (no)
i LOVE yertle triolgy (for sure one of my top songs i wish they'd play again). something so sexy about a funky funky 13 minute jam where yertle the turtle segues into freaky styley which segues into a funkadelic jam which segues into untitled #2. every second goes SO hard with that specific cali era energy, just immaculate vibes tbh
(also, see 5:05 for john doing the helicopter (no not that one))
