Chapter 7: For All Time. Always.
---Excerpt
“You can’t kill me,” He Who Remains said, his arms wide as Cold stopped, panting. “I already know what’s going to happen. See?”
He vanished again, reappearing back in his seat.
“It’s a trick,” Cold snapped, retreating to his seat, and ignoring Sara and Leonard.
“Don’t you wonder how I’m able to get out of the way just before you kill me?” He Who Remains asked.
“No.” Leonard’s voice was calm, and seemed to soothe Cold enough to make him sit. “It’s that TemPad you’ve got there.”
Leonard gestured to the device on He Who Remains’s wrist, and Sara could see that it was a form of a TemPad, like the one in her pocket.
“Right.” He Who Remains grinned at Leonard. “But how do I already have it loaded up with everything I need to know to keep from being killed by you?”
Leonard was silent, and He Who Remains looked at each of them with a grin. “It’s easy. I know it all. And I’ve seen it all.”
He got up from his chair, going to the window behind the desk and spreading his arms wide. “Everything you guys did on Lamentis, I saw. All the stuff the TVA didn’t know about, I knew.”
Turning, he looked at Cold. “All the scheming.” He looked at Sara and Leonard. “All the…talking you did last night.”
Sara felt a flare of anger at that. That had been for them. She put the cup down and started to rise. Leonard’s hand tightened on her shoulder, and she stayed in place.
He Who Remains seemed unconcerned as he came to stand behind his chair, leaning on the back with a wink. “Quite sentimental, very touching stuff by the way.”
“No,” Leonard said, pulling his hand away from her as he put his cup down. “We broke out of your perfect timeline. That’s how we got here.”
“Wrong!” He Who Remains said with a sing-song voice. “Every step you took to get here—Lamentis, the Void, I paved the road. You just…walked down it.”
Sara felt her heartbeat in her throat. No. They had won. They broke free. They solved the Void, not him. Not some…Time-Keeper.
“And I have the rest of it,” He Who Remains gestured to one of the books on his table, “right here. Everything’s that going to happen. There’s only one way this can go.”

Chapter 6: Journey into Mystery
---Excerpt
"I want to know who's at the top of this. I want to know who lied to me.” Renslayer's voice cracked and if Sara could feel anything, it might have been pity. "I want to know why...why I gave up everything—”
Sara saw Mobius's face.
(Leonard's face—)
“Why you took everything, you mean," Cold cut in.
(Leonard's face, consumed by gold fire.)
"Tell me about the founding of the TVA," Cold said. "The beginning of time."
(The gold doorway on Lamentis-1.)
“Those are restricted files," Renslayer said. "I don't have access.”
"Who would have access, then?"
(The orange-gold contents of the reset charges.)
"I don't know, I always thought—”
Sara interrupted. "What about the end of time?"
When it was quiet, she turned around. Renslayer was sitting on the ground, Cold looming in front of her.
"It's…” Renslayer started, confused. "It's just a Void."
"What if it isn't? What if there's something?”

Leonard had lived his whole life in Central City. It was his city, no matter what anybody else said. He knew it better than anything else in his life.
When he’d left Central City for a time-traveling mission, he’d done so knowing that eventually he’d come back and the city would be just as it had been when he left, but then the months went by, and things changed. His priorities changed.
He knew one thing and one thing alone about that mission: he would never had guessed he’d end up dying to save time, but looking back, it was one of the soundest decisions he’d ever made.
But that had been six years ago, and now he was back, as if nothing had even happened.
He couldn’t explain why he had decided to stay in Central City, but he had a feeling that it had more to do with spite than anything. His whole plan when the mission had begun in January 2016 was to come back to January 2016, no matter how much time had passed for him, and Mick would follow and they’d find Lisa and be back a band of rogues. When he’d turned up at the Vanishing Point, indelibly alive, he learned that it had been, in fact, six years since the night he’d decided to hold the failsafe down at the Oculus Wellspring, and now returning to Central City in 2016 wasn’t a possibility. Not long later, he learned that Mick had no intention of returning to Central, even with his old partner back, and this in addition to finding out that Lisa didn’t really hang around Central City too much anymore left his original plan in shambles, and in its place was an emotional tug-of-war: stay on the Waverider or leave and return to Central City.
In the end, habit was the stronger side, and he had left the Waverider, feeling Sara Lance’s eyes on him as he went.

Forgot to post Chapter 4 yesterday! Whoops! Probably a good thing though because I've fallen behind again and won't have Chapter 5 up until tomorrow. Thanks to the handful of people who are reading it :)

How Sara ended up re-enacting her almost kiss with Leonard
This is for @captaincanary-week 's CaptainCanary week 2021 Day 6 prompts. I ended up choosing both. Quick, kiss me so we don’t blow our cover

Christmas
I Really enjoyed writing this even though it was kinda hard for me. This is my first time writing for CaptainCanary even though I do love them! Sorry if it is slightly late, I could figure out this one stupid paragraph.
Read on AO3
Small sneak peak: They were all gathered at the table, laughing and eating. Everything surprisingly normal for the group.
The Christmas tree was thrown up haphazardly in the corner, lights managing to twinkle while barely holding on from above, minus a few bulbs or two, and a perfectly cooked Christmas feast laid out by Gideon.
Stories were being passed around and shared, how the group even had new stories shocked Sara. However having the occasional new member did help in that department.
Though Sara did have one story of her own, from one of her first few missions with Len that no one but the OG’s knew of. Maybe it was time to let that cat out of the bag?

For SylvanHeather, who told me about her girls every time I shared a Rory fic. She is dearly missed.

“Hey, Barry just called me down to the lab,” Sara called.
She heard Leonard mumble a response and followed his voice into their bedroom to see that he was sitting on their bed with a book, his legs outstretched and their one-year old daughter Rory sitting at his side chewing on a teething ring.
“I’m gonna head out. Rory needs to get put down for a nap in a second,” Sara said, tossing a light blue footed sleep suit towards him. Leonard glanced briefly at them as they hit the pillow next to him and nodded, then did a double-take. He picked up the pajamas, holding them up with an odd look on his face.
“What’s up?” Sara asked.
“Whose are these?”
“Huh?”
“Are these new?”
“Uh…kind of? Felicity left us a bag of Tommy and Mara’s old stuff last time they visited,” Sara replied. Leonard continued to look at the pajama suit suspiciously, long enough for Sara to raise her eyebrows and ask, “Everything okay?”
“This…is too big.”
“No…” Sara replied, “It’s 12 to 18 months.”
“This is for, like, toddlers. Rory’s not…she’s little still.”
“She’s fourteen months, my love.”
“Yeah, but…”
“You dressed her this morning. What’s she wearing now?”
Sara leaned in to see that Rory was wearing a yellow and white onesie with ruffled sleeves, her white diaper sticking out from the little leg holes.
“Babe,” she chuckled, “I bought that onesie a long time ago. It’s six to nine months.”
“It fits her fine,” Leonard replied, although his expression was a little wary, “That won’t fit her.”
“Len, I promise it fits her,” Sara said, but Leonard made no move to change Rory into the pajamas. She rolled her eyes, “Oh — at least try it. If it really is too big you can put her into whatever pajamas you want. We still have her newborn clothes if you wanted that.”
She snickered as Leonard feigned a glare in her direction. With a stubborn look on his face, he finally stood and laid Rory on their bed. As he started changing her into the pajamas, his expression morphed into one of surprise and, frankly, a little bit of distress.
“See,” Sara said, holding back a laugh as Leonard finished closing the last snap on the pajama suit.
“Jesus Christ,” Leonard said, his voice low.
He lifted Rory up into his arms, and placed a long kiss on her chubby cheek.
“No more growing,” he told her quietly, “All done.”
“Sorry, Len,” Sara said with a small, sympathetic smile.
“Such is life,” he replied, then looked back to Rory, “Give Mommy a kiss goodbye?”
Rory let out a belly-laugh as she gave Sara a wet, clumsy, open-mouth kiss on her cheek.
“Bye, baby,” Sara said with a smile, smoothing a hand over Rory’s wispy, blonde hair before kissing the top of her head.
“Be safe,” Leonard said, looking at Sara with a serious expression.
“I will,” she replied, “Always.”
Sara walked out the door into the hallway, and just as she was about to round the corner and head for the stairs, she looked back into the bedroom. She couldn’t help the smile that crept onto her face as she saw Leonard holding Rory close to his chest, swaying back and forth and planting soft kisses on the top of her head.
Though she may tease him about it, Sara understood Leonard’s reaction to Rory and her new pajamas. It was bittersweet to see her get bigger and bigger every day and to know that soon she would no longer just be their baby, but rather a whole person with her own impact to make on the world, but she also knew, as Leonard had said, such is life.
Sara was always in awe of the life she and her husband had built for themselves. The people they had been when Rip’s mission to defeat Vandal Savage had first begun many years ago were wildly different from who they are now. They had both worked their asses off to become these versions of themselves, people who they were proud to be. More than that, Sara was so proud of who Rory was becoming and believed so strongly in the parental unit she and Leonard were forging every day.
More than any heroic or legendary deed, more than vigilantism or villainy, more than anything either of their alter-egos had done, Rory was their legacy, and it was a legacy she would fiercely protect for as long as her days would allow.
Anyways this is several days late, but it was my take on Day 4 of @captaincanary-week (prompt was “What’s next?”). I have half-written prompts for a few other days that hopefully I’ll get out tomorrow but I’ve been swamped so we’ll see!

In my Heart is a Christmas Tree Farm
Day 6 of @captaincanary-week! Prompt: Undercover
Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/35761735
Sara balls her gloved fists tighter in the pockets of her puffy winter vest. After a manhunt through time – them being the hunted, of course – they pulled off into December 2009 and now they’re hiding around in a small town. They’ve split up over the town to make it harder for Druce and his surviving minions. Originally her group consisted of herself, Leonard, Mick, and Amaya, but somewhere along the way they lost the last two so now she and Leonard are hiding out by walking the fields of a busy Christmas tree farm alone.
A very cold Christmas tree farm.
“What do you think the look on Hunter’s face would be if we brought a tree back to the ship?” Len asks, and the mental image is enough to make her laugh.
“I think Ray would make it a tradition.”

Chapter 5: The Nexus Event
---Excerpt
“There is no ‘before the TVA.’ The Time-Keepers—”
“It’s a load of lies, Mobius!” Leonard got to his feet, the chair knocked down behind him. “It’s all a lie. There is no Sacred Timeline, just a bunch of murderers. The Variant’s Sara, she never lived in a Star City belfry. Why was he there? Why did Caitlin call me Citizen Cold? Ask the Variant. Hell, ask Sara, she knew about Caitlin, too.”
“Right, then why are we hunting you down?”
“Because Sara is the one who merges the alternate Earths into one. The TVA is trying to make sure it’s the right one.” Mobius was shaking his head, but Leonard kept talking. “They kill one or both of us to ensure she won’t do it on the wrong Earth.”
“How convenient.”
“Yeah, then why is every nexus event the Oculus? Why can we never make it off that rock?” All those folders, all those events, and he’d finally figured it out. “Why didn’t they let her die there? Why remove her?”
“Why?”
“Because they need the right Sara to merge the Earths. They’re trying to make sure they have the right one, so they don’t prune her until they’re sure. They’re using you and—”
“Well, I hope they were sure this time. They’ll be pruning you next, so I suggest—”
Leonard’s throat constricted. For a second, all he heard was a faint ringing. “What?”
“I said, they’re coming here next so if there’s anything you want to say...”
“Sara’s gone?”
Mobius sighed, looking at the table. “Yeah.”

↳ For Captain Canary Week 2021, Day Five: Canon Divergence - "I don't believe in destiny." @captaincanary-week
Summary: Leonard was resigned. He was going to sacrifice himself, and there was no way out this time; not unless he wanted to leave Mick behind, and that was not an option.
Of course, he should've known that with Sara Lance involved, that plan was bound to go off the rails. Not that he was complaining.
Notes: How many times can I fix Destiny? I don't know yet, but I'll let you guys know. The limit may not exist 😅 | Thank you so much Rob for betaing this for me!! 💜
Warnings: loss of a limb, and Len is in a whole lot of pain. Sara kisses it better though.
Read it on AO3.
destiny is a small price to pay (for a chance of you & me)
SNEAK PEEK:
(...)
Sara looked down at Mick, and then stared up at him, shock and understanding filling her eyes in equal measure. He was grateful he wouldn't have to explain himself.
"Get him out of here."
"No!" she said, short and firm, blue eyes swimming.
Leonard took a breath, ignoring with all his might the feeling inside of him that screamed for him to run.
There was no running from this.
"Just do it," he said, resigned to his destiny, as it were.
Sara took a moment, her eyes darting from Mick to him and briefly into the Oculus. He saw her shoulders settling in determination. So much power and strength.
"I'm sorry," she said, eyes locked on his. He nodded, letting her know it was okay; giving her permission to leave him, if that's what she needed.

Runaway with Me (and save the future)
Day 5 of @captaincanary-week!!!! Prompt: Teen! Sara, Leonard, and Mick!
Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/35743357
Sara startles awake, her mind processing that there is an outside voice hissing for her to do so. As she blinks her eyes into consciousness and sits up she tries to take stock of the situation as best she can, alarms blaring in her mind that something not good is happening.
The guys are in her room.
She sees Snart first, hovering over her but backing off, whispering for her to get up and that they have to go. Mick is pressed against her door; closed it over as much as he can while still being able to crane his head and peek out into the dark hallway.
“Why?” She finally manages to hiss back at Snart. “What’s going on?”
“Don’t know.” He hurriedly whispers back. “But one of those spaceships just showed up outside and these guys and uniforms came in. Two of them are arguing with Xavier in the kitchen, they said the Legends were neutralized.”
She blinks, trying to understand that and how it leads to him and Mick barging into her room at… what time even is it?
Upon looking out the window she finds its still pitch-black outside, and even in this weird place time moves in normal days.
“What time is it?” She asks, and suddenly Snart is gone from her side, over at her dresser and opening one of her drawers. “Hey!”
“Three a.m.” He mutters in answer, before tossing a wad of her clothes back at her that she scrambles to catch. “Get changed. Mick?”
“Don’t hear ‘em yet.” Mick murmurs, “The old lady must be putting up a fight.”
“She won’t last long.” Snart comments, Sara watching the two of them as she exasperatedly tries to understand what the hell it is they’re saying.
Her clothes are what finally make it click together.
