1.1 Welcome to Newcrest!

Even though the neighbourhood of Newcrest is slowly becoming the new place to live, the area around Avarice Cottage is still very empty. But Cordelia doesn’t mind - coming from a countryside town it seems like the perfect step between city and country. A true suburban dreams.

First things first, Cordelia needs a job. All her life she’s been interested in politics, so it seems like a natural way to go. Starting out as an Unruly Activist, Cordelia is sure she’ll quickly rise in rank. Being who she is, she has bigger goals than that.

Time to meet the locals. They all seem very nice, but most of them are older than her. And... already married. Her goal is not to jump into a relationship, but her goal in life is to have a successful family after all.

She even travelled to Magnolia Blossom Park, but her neighbours had the same plans. So she decided to make the best out of the situation and decided to play some chess with Samir Molina, a stay-at-home-dad, socialising and working on her logic at the same time. Why not make some friends? She’s new here after all.

As night drew closer, Cordelia had an idea. Changing into her best party outfit she took a cab down to The Blue Velvet. Where else would she meet new people if not at a nightclub. Very early on she got talking to Baako Jang and Katrina Caliente, both who seemed like lovely people.

It didn’t take long before Cordelia became the most popular girl in the bar. Multiple people came up to introduced herself, and sitting with her favourite glass of Van Haunt, she loved every minute. Happy, but tired she made herself home, knowing she’d met a lot of new people.

Just as the first drops of autumn rain came, Cordelia felt happy. She had made the right decision to move here, and to start living her life just the way she wanted it. She was going to make it on her own, and she was going to make a great life, not only for her, but for whatever children she would hopefully have.

Happy and content she went to bed.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of it. She had been warned about strangers lurking in the night, and even planted some garlic in her front garden after an advice from Samir, but she hadn’t thought more of it. Then suddenly, in the middle of the night, a stranger stood over her bed. The whole ordeal is like a fuzzy old memory for her, and she can’t be exactly sure what happened, but it left her with a chill running through her bones.

Poor Cordelia ended her first day in Newcrest on the kitchen floor, feeling completely drained without any recollection of getting there.

Hopefully next time will be better.

Behind the scenes: Avarice Cottage

Avarice Cottage was built generations ago on a plot of land that used to be known as Avarice Acres but that is now turning into Newcrest. Originally owned by Calpurnia Caesar, the small little house has stood empty for a long time. Yes, her son Octavius, Cordelia’s grandfather, had used it from time to time when he wanted a break from Monte Vista, but other than that it had stood empty. So when Cordelia decided to leave the country side and move closer to the city, it was the perfect opportunity for her.

So as I mentioned in the rules, I didn’t want to go full on Legacy mode and start on a completely empty lot. I also wanted to use Newcrest as the setting, so I’ve made my own rules. I built this little house (who is more or less a copy of Summerside Starter by Thurid666) and I created a little garden.

The cottage only has the absolute necessities, because I didn’t want to start out the game with too much of an advantage. Plus I imagine as the cottage has been stood mainly unused, people wouldn’t had spend that much time to furnish it.

Behind the scenes: Cordelia

So, if you hadn’t already guessed, Cordelia is a remake of the maxis made Cordelia Capp from Sims 2. Sims 2 was my absolute favourite game, and even though I wasn’t a big fan of Veronaville (Strangetown was my favourite), I thought that I wanted to start my legacy with a sim from TS2.

So, I knew that TS3 is set before TS2, but that TS4 is just like an alternate reality (just think of the Goths in Willow Creek). Which meant - let’s revive Cordelia and remake her life without the ties of before.

As I say in the rules, traits and aspirations will be decided by a random generator, but for Cordelia I wanted to keep true to her character. Her aspiration in TS2 was family, so that was a given. When it came to her traits, her highest interests in TS2 was food, politics, culture, and weather. Foodie makes sense, Snob is my interpretation of culture (and I mean, look at the Capp’s from TS3), and I felt like someone interested in politics would be Self-Assured. Plus, someone who uproots her life and moves away by herself needs to be somewhat self-assured.

When it came to Cordelia’s clothes I tried to match her personality. In TS2 she’s wearing a turtleneck white knitted dress. Very easy. Her formal is a hint back to her upper-class upbringing. Other than that she likes whites with hints of blue and purple.

Aspiration: Successful Lineage Traits: Foodie, Snob, Self-Assured

Cordelia Capp grew up in the countryside town of Veronaville. She’s the youngest of four children, and even though she’s grown up in luxury, she decided that she wanted something new in life and to make it on her own. So she packed her bags, and moved to the new up-and-coming neighbourhood of Newcrest, mainly to be closer to the city. Luckily, the family owned a small cottage previously owned by her great-grandmother Calpurnia, and that’s where Cordelia settled down.

Welcome

Hi guys and welcome to the life and legacy of Cordelia Capp. Wanting a new adventure away from Veronaville, she decided to leave town and move into Newcrest to start her own life. With just a small amount of simoleons she moved into her great-grandmother Calpurnia’s little cottage, sure she is going to make the most out of this fresh start.

I’m going to start with posting some information. My tweaked rules can be found in the menu to your left, and information on Cordelia, background on her character, and information about the cottage will all follow.
