Alternate outfits for Lynne
My insane ramblings and thought proccess under the cut
So! I finished Ghost Trick recently and absolutely loved it. I enjoyed all characters including Lynne. However, i wasn't the biggest fan of her outfit. And of course because i enjoy putting characters in silly little outfits i HAD to deisgn something for her.
Of course there're some things that i liked and some that i didn't like so let's break it down:
Her hairstyle is easily the most iconic part of her design. Really like it, had to keep it.
The dress is mmm.... questionable. It's stylish but almost feels out of place, plus that godawful belt makes things way worse.
The coat is also pretty good and gives her some interesting shapes, very detective of her, but i really wanted to do something more interesting.
Finally, the boots. FUCKING HAATE the boots. The pointy knees and the weird ridges make them look almost like silly super hero boots. Plus i feel like they are uncomfortably tall? bit maybe it's because of the weird pointy knees.
my overall gripes with design is that she's very smooth, everything is skinny. Skinny dress, skinny boots and even her coat is kind skinny. I wanted to play around with shapes
Bonus tangent, but her dress kinda reminds of young Mia's dress. I guess Shu Takumi has a thing. At least Lynne doesn't have cleavage.
So let's go outfit by outfit!
Outfit 1:
Probably the closest to her original outfit. My initial thought was that i just wanted the coat to be BIGGER. Swapped the dress for a simpler shirt+dress combo, kinda giving sexy police officer. Yeah i deicded to keep the sexy(ish) elements because why the hell not, you can kick ass in a short skirt. To amp up the girl power elements i swapped the ugly boots out for gogo boots. Yeah it's unpractical but so is the original outfit, i just make cater to my personal taste more.
In my original vision i wanted to give her like fun printed tights but later in the proccess i realised it doesn't go with the rest of the outfit. maybe i will do something with it later.
Outfit 2:
This is the second outfit i came up with and i had a lot of thought for this one. I knew that i i wanted to give her trouser outfit and because i really like the chunky limp look i decided to with bell bottoms. While i was at it i took inspiration from her dress and thought "But what if it was a jumpsuit?". So it became a jumpsuit. I tried to use the belt from her original design to try to salvage it and to differentiate this look from the other two but eeehh. Honestly, my least fovorite part of this design, i could go back and fix it but not everything will be perfect and it works well enough as is. Because the bottom is more chonky now her top could become smaller so i decided to go for a cropped blazer. Honestly kinda giving Athena Cykes. This outfit overall is more formal than the other two, but still playful and feminine.
Outfit 3:
This outfit is the most different out of the three. It's casual and kinda gives skater girl and cow girl at the same time. My only idea for the third out was that i reeealy wanted to do leg warmers. The rest of the outfit kinda came naturally. I love me some canadian tux. I initially wanted to keep color for the respective cothes article but then i thought "nah let's mix it up a bit. And honestly this is my favorite outfit out of the three.
In conclusion, this is not my best work and my perfectionis brain sees all the flaws and i already hate this work but i still thing it's cool and other people might enjoy it. Not everyone might enjoy these but it's okay. But please don't hate on me. The rablings might have been excessive but i really wanted to try a new format for posting. I never made long posts on Tumblr before so i thought it might be fun!
