Had the devastating thought the other day that Allison potentially never heard Cap’s death story. I would have loved to see her reaction. She was so important to the Captain accepting himself and opening up to the others. 🥹
Ok but Captain not choosing military rations for the (implied) “what I would eat if I could” at food club in the Christmas special is a huge deal!! He’s grown so much.
Because both S5 ep. 6 and the Ghosts Christmas special both “feel” like finales, I almost feel like I can choose which ending I like more (right now that’s ep. 6 but I’ll reassess when the pain of the show ending isn’t so fresh).
(GHOSTS SEASON 5 SPOILERS) Ok but what if Robin was right about there being a pattern and one of the plague ghosts got sucked off while the main ghosts were watching the clock???
Ok so I know it’s probably just a continuity error that the Ghosts book says Kitty died in 1790 but Cap asks Robin where he was on March 8, 1780 in the “interrogation,” but I have an alternative explanation:
Cap, Julian, Thomas and Pat are just terrible detectives. Fanny should have led the effort instead. I mean, she was instrumental in figuring out Lucy was lying (another deceptive sister figure, no less!).
i am so fucking glad cap can just be gay now. like it isnt a question, there isnt a moment of hesitation, it isn't covered up. he just is. and the he that he is is gay. like in previous seasons, that "lets not be too hasty" might have still happened, but the ghosts would make a face. and cap would clear his throat and deflect and bloviate like "by which I mean, of course, that I'm very interested. ahem. in the upcoming weather, and- well, eaughghg" but now he just gets to. find a man attractive. and say it. and no one bats an eye. I'm just so proud of him. and so glad he has that.
like, I can imagine the look on his face when button house holds a pride meetup and everyone is sitting around talking about their experiences and just. casually being queer and existing together. and he can just sit in one of the plastic chairs and listen and close his eyes and pretend for a moment that he is part of that community. yknow what i mean.
I like how all of Alison’s pranks on the other ghosts are comparatively low key and unserious, and then with Thomas she goes right for the jugular and drives him to the brink of a mental breakdown.
I know Cap didn’t explicitly say “I’m gay,” but given the contents of the flashback he (presumably) described and Fanny calling him a “brave man,” I think of it as a coming out. His sexuality and the way he was denied the right to express himself and his love for Havers is integral to his death/life story, so to share that story is to share his sexuality. And he does share it. With a group of people that value him more than the Army as an institution ever did. To Anthony Havers, he was not “The Captain.” He was (and is) James.
I know we’ve heard Cap make many thinly-veiled comments about finding men attractive before, but I feel like with the bit about the weatherman he was just so much more open about it? Like he found that guy hot and he ADVOCATED for himself to keep the TV on. In the past, really only Julian has reacted to these kinds of comments. Almost everyone seemed have some idea, but it was not discussed out of (I think) respect for Cap not being ready to be out. Now, all the ghosts are like “ughhh” (with affection ofc). Like everyone knows why he wants to keep watching the weather but they don’t groan because they object to him finding the guy hot. They just think the weather’s dull. His attraction to the weatherman is basically treated the same as Pat and Robin’s crush on Rachel the meteorologist. And I love that.
