i think i just need to learn to be self-indulgent with this blog, honestly. i haven't been around much at all partly because i'm finding it hard to get through the series (thanks brain for being so non-functional...) but also because I felt weirdly awkward about not writing any major characters from the show?? and mostly sticking to characters like roman who were only around for a bit??
but like............ if i can get over that i think i would like to write him more anyway. he's fun! I like him and my other muses too! so like. i'm gonna try and say "fuck it" and just write here regardless of my weird anxieties, but we'll see how it goes. <3

Seeing Neo in such an uncharacteristically fragile state causes Roman to feel a painful tug at his heart. And when Neo turns into Ruby, it's hard to suppress the burning anger he feels welling up inside him at the thought of the young huntress.
Of course... it's always little Red's fault. He'd known that, and she's always been getting in his way - but this time, she'd gone too far for him to laugh it off or forget it. For hurting Neo... there's no way he'd ever forgive her.
"Yeah. I remember... I thought you'd died, then." If only Roman could read her mind - then he'd know to tell her that he would never be ashamed of her. If it's what she wanted, the world could rot for all he cares. But as for his own survival... there's admittedly a semi-large gap in Roman's memory when it comes to what happened after Neo took that awful fall.
Once he realized everyone thought he was dead, he went into hiding, recovering from the fight and having no reason to seek anyone out, since he thought Neo was gone herself. If he hadn't done that, could he have found her sooner...? ...But regrets are pointless now.
"I tried to lay low, but I honestly don't know how I survived. I'd think I'd remember being eaten by a Grimm, but there's a first time for everything, right?"

OKAY HELLO HI I LIVE AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALSO!! (yes i'm a day late, shhhhh)

Ah, right, the always attentive Melanie.
When the mute let her eyes fall onto the other woman, she rolled her eyes to the sides and clicked her tongue, even if her apparent disgust was soon replaced with a small cocky smile, and her fingers picked the brim of her top hat for a small bow of her head.
Please, Neopolitan wasn’t easy to kill…even if in a way, she technically died.
All those new feline features were hiding in plain sight in fear of herself or how the Malachite could react, but beside that, Neo opened one hand and pointed at herself from top to bottom with her palm.
She was here, alive, and she was real. It was simply a very long story.
Ugh. How pretentious.
At least, that’s how Melanie sees it - that girl looking so proud of herself as she bows is just so lame. But Melanie knows well that being lame doesn’t mean that Neo isn’t dangerous. This is someone worth keeping an eye on - even if that Torchwick isn’t by her side anymore.
“Fine, don’t tell me. It’s not like I actually care.” she drawls in the same bored tone as always. But maybe she should needle her for a bit more information...
“What do you even do now, anyway? Like, you don’t even have a boss anymore.”

All her strength went to the hug. For a second it may even be a bit too tight, but it was possibly because at the lack of loud sobbing, Neo had to let it out in other ways.
As usual, her throat closed on her whenever she wanted to, so it hurt, and it made her feel like if she was out of breath when getting drowned in tears. At this point it was even hard to hide that she was crying her heart out for him.
And in return, she could almost feel him doing the same.
It wasn’t until he pulled back that the mute looked up at him with her reddened face- cheeks wet and makeup destroyed. There was no reason to hide her feelings in front of her companion.
And that smile…the wavering and pain didn’t escape her mismatched eyes, but at least it calmed her down a little, even if the illusionist seemed beat enough to not be able to fake a smile of her own.
But why would she?
She had her best friend back now. Nothing and no one would take him away from her this time around, right?…
“I... can’t believe it’s really you...” his voice is so uncharacteristically fragile - it’s uncertain; like he’s going to tear apart at the seams. His usual snark and wit has been stripped bare, leaving him vulnerable in a way that only Neo has ever seen.
He doesn’t take his hand off his shoulder. It’s not just for her sake - he wants to comfort her, to ease her pain and dry her tears, but he also feels like if he lets her go... she’ll disappear. SO instead, he takes a moment to look at her. He takes in every detail, confirming to himself that it’s really her, that she’s really here, and when he speaks again, it’s with a heavy kind of exhaustion.
“What... what happened?”

It’s not like Melanie’s ever liked Neo, but she’s certainly not boring - especially considering what Melanie had heard, albeit second-hand...

i read amazing rwby meta but i don’t fully understand all of it because i haven’t finished & don’t fully remember the show -> i want to watch the show to deepen my understanding and fully enjoy everything -> my executive dysfunction kicks in and i can’t get myself to actually watch the show even though i really want to -> i continue to suffer
