I tried to film straight going down from my point of view, but I didn’t expect my tube to rotate back and forth 😅 I thought I’d be able to control the direction a little by leaning, but I was wrong xD No such handling exists, you just go with the flow . One time, we went on a family trip to Canada on one of those asian bus tours - we visited a bunch of small towns, saw some landmarks etc . One of the things we did there was go on a super long & super high/elevated chair lift 😱 I didn’t think I was afraid of heights before that, but I was def feeling the jitters 😖 Being on it gave us a great view tho! I was considering taking out my phone to take a picture, but I was wary of dropping it (it was cold and I didn’t trust my grip) . Also, when I looked down, I saw a stuff on the ground that previous riders had dropped, including 1 (one lol) shoe 😂 I didn’t wanna chance it . My sister Cassie, however, had no such fear LOL She took out her phone and took pictures without worrying that she might drop it . This chairlift reminded me of that 😂😂😂 Except this chairlift was much closer to the ground and not as long, so I wasn’t as nervous ahahas . Plus, I brought a camera with a strap this time around xD . LOL Lowkey probs one of the more dangerous/risky things I’ve done 😅 Basically, you sled down a hill on a winding, curved cement path with no seatbelts or safety rails 😂😂😂 All you have are some handles and a brake lever lol . I saw a bunch of people going really slow, so I thought that that was the max speed (or close to it), but I was wrong 😅 The sled goes CRAZY fast - I was legit concerned I might get thrown off if I didn’t keep slowing down xD . At the beginning, I started off without braking cuz I wanted to see how fast I could go, but the ride went from 0 to 100 SUPER fast (mainly cuz if the turns) 🙈 I mean, maybe if there were some railing to guarantee the sled’s path, but nope, it’s not even a semicircle . Our very first time “tubing” and we decide to go down the hill backwards 😂😂😂 I literally never heard of this until my sisters told me about it - it’s pretty much like going down a water slide, except you’re laying on a donut-shaped tube + it’s super cold cuz of the snow + there’s like...no regulation LOLLL . We saw a bunch of groups going down the hill together so we figured we’d try it :D Going backwards, we stayed together by holding each others’ legs LOL Surprisingly, that’s a lot easier than holding hands/arms cuz it gets pretty bumping going down . I’ll probs post about this later, but some kid actually fell off his tube and had to walk down the hill 😂😂😂😂😂 The funny thing is that, he was taking so long / going so slow that his father (who was still at the top) went down the hill on his tube to chase his son down BAHAHAHAHAHAHA . How to make s’mores when you have a real fireplace available: . 1. Don’t be like me and drop the marshmallow and skewer in the fireplace 🤦🏻‍♂️🙈🤦🏻‍♂️ le sigh . 2. Semi-melt your chocolate of choice in 5-10s increments depending on how hot your fire is (tbh it’s 1000x easier to put it on a plate and stick it in the microwave). It’s better to err on less melted than more because your marshmallow will melt the chocolate a bit too, but hey 🤷🏻‍♂️ depends on how messy (authentic) you want your s’more experience to be . 3. Place the semi-melted chocolate on one of your graham crackers (I know, obvious right? I’m just filling up caption space 😂) . 4. Depending on how adventurous you are, stick one or two marshmallows on your skewer and hold em just slightly over the flames so they don’t catch on fire. Turn your marshmallow(s)/skewer every once in a while - you’ll know your marshmallow is ready if it’s not burned because marshmallows are pretty much enjoyably edible in any state except crispy . But really tho, wait til it’s slightly golden brown and poof-ey . 5. Using your skewer, place the marshmallow(s) on the graham cracker with the chocolate and use the other cracker to smush down on the marshmallow(s) while you pull the skewer out . 6. Omg Brian won such a giant pot 😂😂😂 Andrew bluffed til the end, Silvia was banking on the turn and river cards, and Cassie had a good hand...BUT BRIAN HAD THE BEST 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 I was only able to film cuz I folded early (terrible hand lol) . It was actually a super fun night! I don’t generally play poker (all I know is that you play the player...or at least I think that’s what Harvey Spector said in that one Suits episode ahahas) but I really tried to observe everyone’s tendencies! I also realized that I needed to change up how I play because I’m too consistent xD . One of the funniest moments was actually the very first hand of the night! The drive up to Big Bear actually wasn’t too bad! Super thankful for my CrossLife brothers and sisters ^-^ Sometimes, life can get a little overwhelming and somehow something always pops up and monopolizes our attention/energy . The last 2 months have been really crazy (if you’ve been watching my vlogs or reading the captions, you could probably tell just from how minimally edited or short-captioned they were😂) BUT surrounding myself with quality company def made it a lot more bearable :) I’m thankful that I have so many amazing people in my life to keep me grounded and my priorities straight . Dumpling night begins :D Was a lot of fun, but perhaps would have gone much smoother if I had remembered to get measuring cups and a wooden dowel for making/shaping the dough 😅🙈 Actually, would have been much easier if I had just bought pre-made dough circles for the dumplings LOLL . I did not realize how difficult it is to make dough from scratch :| like, some people (*ahem* Derek) make it look so easy but I had issues with the dough-water ratio and kneading it well ;-; ALSO difficult, shaping the dough with spoons and cups because I neglected to purchase a dowel xD (sorry friends lol at least the experience builds character? 🤷🏻‍♂️ ahahahas) . This is srs such a cheap ($) and amazingly tasty way to feed a lot of people tho! We had 2 meat options (pork and beef) and mixed those with garlic, ginger, green onion, red onion, egg, and soy sauce 😋 Per person, it was only like…$6-7 ^-^ (and we were super full) .
