I think, after years of having these little tamiya weathering sets, I’ve finally figured them out. Here’s Daisy Ogre with just a touch of wear added.
I’ve also completed the backdrops for my photo booth you see here, but now I have to take stock and probably reglue all the scale buildings I have to go with. Then I can really start taking some cool pictures!

been watching the compilation movies in anticipation of the upcoming new film since I haven't seen the TV series in 10+ years and here's what I've been thinking about Gundam SEED Destiny lately:
it's bad
Stella's arc is interesting because she's a Four Murasame ripoff in a universe that didn't have a Lalah Sune equivalent. Whereas in Zeta, Amuro and Quattro see Kamille and Four and go "aw shit, not again", this is actually the first time something like this has happened in the Cosmic Era.
Every goddamn thing out of Athrun's mouth directed at Shinn falls flat because it's hypocritical at best. And you can't even say "well but he was right about Stella" because she would have died anyway and even if she hadn't been given back to the druggie corps! they had like, fifty more Destroy Gundams and pilots for them. Literally doomed no matter what.
Meer Campbell is soooo funny but I don't think it's on purpose. What if Joe Biden recruited you to be a stealth replacement for Taylor Swift. What if he brought you on to his State of the Union addresses.
It, on the whole, sucks. Hour and a half long comp movies /drag/ to a ridiculous degree.
Lacus Clyne is supposedly an idol and I don't remember a single song she's ever done. SEED has on screen singing characters and it is still most strongly associated with TM Revolution.
Shinn is pretty fun most of the time when they let him do stuff. He's such a smug little cunt. Luna is also surprisingly catty at times.
Mu with the scar and the long hair is like, disastrously hot.
The comp movies are a bit of a mess and have at multiple points introducted characters I was clearly supposed to know that, have not shown up before. But also, it cuts out almost all of the flashbacks, so it's definitely a much better experience.
There's still one whole movie left and I have negative recollection as to what happens next. Everyone's got their upgrades, they're on the verge of taking out the illuminati. What else is there?

In a surprising first! I did seam removal, panel lining, and topcoat on a complete toy*, not a model kit. This is the Fatty from Votoms, from a mid-aughts takatomy lineup. I didn’t take any Before pictures but let me tell you, it looks a whole lot better After.
*mostly complete, the gun comes on a runner and needs to be assembled, but the robot does not.

You know how movies have production babies in the credits? Same concept, but "model kits I completed work on, while waiting for glue/paint/topcoat to dry on White Glint"
The GM I painted the back of the shield, a detail I've typically ignored on other kits. Was also a testbed for seam removal technique before I really got started on White Glint.
The FA Girl Gourai was part of the collection I was helping to rehome/resell that I ended up keeping. I painted her hair and did some dry brushing on the armor. Also painted her, uh, mid/lower section there so she's wearing tights instead of constantly flashing everybody.
Dann of THURSDAY was mostly just topcoat and the little dots in the back of the hands.

After working on it off and on for a month it doesn't feel real, but I have finished building Kotobukiya's 1/72 Armored Core 4 Answer Lineark White Glint. I did a ridiculous amount of paint apps and seam removal. I had a lot of fun putting this together but I think I'll wait on anything else on this level for a bit.

Possibly some tmi in here:
- I keep getting closer on ÆTHER DSP. Last I tried I think I was maybe fifteen seconds from the end of the song. Next time for sure, just want to be certain I’m not already overextended by the time I’m warmed up enough to try.
- I’ve hit the point where most 11s/12s are more fun than they are challenging. It’s no longer that I have to gear up for something hard, but that I can readily enjoy a new stepchart for a song I already like. For songs I’ve never played though, I still tend to try the 8/9/10 first if that’s an option.
- I need to get more comfortable letting go of the bar if I need to. I’m decent with crossovers but there’s some freeze-heavy segments I’ve run into recently that need full 360 spins.
- I’ve definitely gotten more comfortable with stream-heavy segments. And I can more frequently keep my accuracy up during them too.
- I’ve started wearing tank tops out dancing which, feels a little weird still. I try not to show my shoulders if I can help it because I have an /awful/ farmer’s tan. But I think they’ve been working for me so far. Ended up shaving my armpits yesterday, never done that before, but it was definitely necessary.
Got another R1 trip this weekend! Hoping to get some good scores registered, but it’ll be in the evening after a party so who knows how I’ll feel.
