Same now with AI and robots, just much more efficient. But contrary to 100 years ago, few exploitable markets are now left for the compensation of over-production, rationalisation and unemployment in industrialised post-colonial countries.
Robots and AI have to pay for the workers they substitute (key word “robot-taxes”). Soon enough, even big tech-companies will whine for that socialist political move.
