Better late than never! This is our second-longest chapter of the fic, so it took us a little longer to get it written and edited.

I found a treasure, one I never thought I’d have the chance to own! I knew about this poster, only from a lone low-res image that my friend had hunted down online several years ago. I’d included that image in a blog post about Toy Story at the Oscars a few years back, but had never managed to find a better image, let alone the poster itself for sale. So one night, when the subject of the poster came up while I was talking with a friend, I thought I’d look and see if I could find a better image… which led me to an eBay listing! I snatched it up, and soon it will be framed and on the wall next to my sparkly Toy Story 2 Jessie. Not only is it special for being such a rare piece of Toy Story memorabilia, but Jessie is Buzz’s DATE, y’all. Look at those two, and his little bow tie! These are illustrations from the book Bonnie’s First Day of School, which is set after Toy Story 4. It takes place on her actual first day of kindergarten, with Forky going to school with her and helping out throughout the day.
This is one of my absolute favorites of the new books, because Buzz and Jessie totally seem to have a parental role going on with Forky here, and I LOVE it. It kinda goes back to this scene from the movie...
And it does make sense, that they’d take on “raising” him in Woody’s absence. He’s truly child-like, and needs guidance more than any other toy. It’s a natural progression in Buzz and Jessie’s relationship, too.
It might be nothing, and this might not be the actual direction they go with in Forky Asks A Question - we might see that all the toys have just sort of taken him under their collective wing. We’ll have to wait and see. But I adore the idea of this little spork family. ❤️💚

Pixar posted this little Toy Story zodiac chart all across social media yesterday. And it turns out that whoever made this really did their research. For instance, Buzz and Jessie...
I looked up the book Love Signs by Linda Goodman, which breaks down relationships by signs. Here’s what I found in Aries Man - Sagittarius Woman:
A Sagittarian girl who's attracted to an Aries man is only doing what comes naturally. She admires courage, craves excitement, likes to have fun - and the Ram is certainly not a stick-in-the-mud. True he's somewhat bossy, and inclined to insist on getting his own way. But he's eternally a sentimental romanticist, and that's what she's looking for, even though this girl may not recognize her own goal until someone points it out to her.
Spanish Buzz, anyone? I don’t think Jessie knew how much she really liked grand romantic gestures until this side of Buzz came along.
In her heart, the Sagittarian girl longs for an intelligent, honest man, who will take her into his warm arms and protect her forever - from herself.
Oh, how Buzz protects her. It’s what he does best.
If he can convince her that she can trust him to love her completely (unlike those other phony hypocrites who broke her heart), she'll reward him with freedom, stimulating conversation, devoted friendship, affection, humor, warmth and generosity. All that is surely worth a little trouble at the starting gate.
Jessie’s been hurt badly in the past, which would have impacted her ability to trust. I’d imagine her fear of abandonment might have been a stumbling block in them getting together, prior to Toy Story 3. But getting past that sure paid off. Now, he’s her security.
The only thing he needs to remember is to be honest with her always - keep the make-believe and excitement alive in their relationship - and not speak rashly, in anger. Exactly the same things she needs to remember about him. These two are so much alike. Proud. Brave. Generous. Impulsive. Passionate. Independent. Idealistic. And very, very vulnerable to coldness and rejection... especially from each other. Once they've permanently conquered their mutual unintentional selfishness, nothing can separate them. The strength of their love is unconquerable. Mars and Jupiter are a formidable combination.

None of this can be a coincidence, either. Too much of it matches up with what we’ve seen of them over the years. Here’s one last bit from the book I referenced:
When the Ram joins Sag, and they travel together, the trip may be a little noisy, but never dull, and they'll energetically defend each other against any baddies who threaten them. The unquenchable idealism of Sagittarius will forever move Aries to spontaneous affection and an unaccustomed compassion - just as the Archer will forever be touched by the naivete and honesty of Aries, knowing that here is someone who can be trusted never to be hypocritical or disloyal. After all the smoke has cleared away, these two will still be standing there, smiling at each other with their hearts.

Buzz & Jessie in Toy Story 4
I’ve been seeing some comments online that Buzz and Jessie were completely forgotten in Toy Story 4, so I thought I’d clear things up a bit. While they weren’t in the spotlight this time, they weren’t neglected, either.
From the start in the present-day, Buzz is kneeling in front of Jessie, helping her through her panic attack in the cramped closet (before Woody walks between them, of course):
Buzz is one of the first to smile at her when she’s excited about the road trip (besides Slinky and Rex, who are right next to her):
Then they look at each other, worried about Woody, after Buzz says “We’re here for you, buddy” (“we” as in him and Jessie):
They share a worried look again, when Woody is chasing after Forky:
Throughout the movie, they’re always near each other, when they have a choice about it. Here’s just one example (out of chronological order with the others), which also happens to be right after she’s helped him up through the window:
And whenever they flop down in toy mode, TWICE it’s with her head on his shoulder. The first time, it’s after they’ve been discussing the spoon they gave to Bonnie, rather parent-like:
The second time, at the end, it’s even more pronounced, with his arm behind her, and Forky on his lap (kind of like a family grouping, front and center). She sits down first here, so he’s extending his arm intentionally, and then you can see her lean into it, putting her head on his shoulder:
Going a little out of chronological order again (the previous photo comes after this), when the toys gather on top of the RV, Buzz takes her hand to help her down onto the awning. He doesn’t help any of the other toys in that scene, and Jessie can jump that distance no trouble, so it’s obviously a gesture of love more than true assistance. And when you think about it, he sends her ahead first, to see Woody and Bo, probably not knowing if there will be time for him to say goodbye as well:
Finally, at the very end, as they’re driving away, Jessie rests her hand on Buzz’s shoulder. They couldn’t hold hands, because their hands are below the window ledge and wouldn’t be visible. So instead, when you see Buzz looking out at Woody and Bo in the distance, and saying his “To infinity...” line, her hand is on his shoulder, for comfort and support. To me, the fact that this gesture is in such a pivotal shot is a reminder that while Buzz just said goodbye to his best friend, he’ll still be okay, because he has Jessie, just like Woody has Bo now:
There could be even more I’ve missed - it’s not until blu-ray that you really catch everything in a Pixar movie. Should there have been more Buzz and Jessie moments? From a fangirl perspective, of course. That was the one thing I was disappointed about when I first saw it. But then I watched it again… and caught all the little things I hadn’t noticed before. They ARE there, showing us that they’re still very much together, even if they’re not the focus this time around. Love isn’t always displayed just as kisses and cuddling; it’s in supporting each other during what was a very stressful time-crunch situation for both of them, each having to step up and take charge to try and get Woody and Forky back while they still could. Not exactly a situation ripe for romance.
I think what we have to remember, too, is that Buzz and Jessie had their love story in Toy Story 3, along with Toy Story of Terror being full of sweet moments between them (even the Toons had their share). Toy Story 3 spoiled us, badly. Toy Story 4 was Woody and Bo’s turn to have their love story. Sure, they could have put in more Buzz and Jessie, but that would have drawn attention away from Woody and Bo, when there was already a LOT of story to tell in a relatively short amount of time.
We did get the sweet scenes in the Seiban commercial, which also show that Buzz and Jessie as a couple is still clearly in Pixar’s canon, so who knows what else we’ll see with them in the future? For now, Woody and Bo got their turn at happily ever after, and for Buzz and Jessie, I’ll gladly take whatever they’ll give us of theirs.

Got the BEST little treasure in the mail today from Japan! I love this whole series from Toyko Disney Resort, but I just had to own something with this particular image on it. So it looks like @jessienevergivesup and I are back on track with our first-of-the-month chapter postings! Hopefully we can stick with that for the rest of the fic, too.
Here’s a hint for this chapter…
Oh, and Jessie and Buzz are in it plenty, as well. It’s all pretty fluffy, for both couples, I just couldn’t come up with any relevant movie references for them.
