I am super mesmerized by the panelling of Witch Hat Atelier, like;
Dude, this is one of the top notch panelling I've ever seen. These are early chapters by the way so I'm not doing much of a spoiler-y thing (mainly ch. 1-2). Like I said in my previous post - the magic system is similar to Owl House, but it's expanded. Which I really like.
This is my interpretation of the manga, even though I just read it up to Chapter 5 (?). You can freely rebuke me on this;
I think the mangaka merged magic and the art and process of improving your drawing as an art. Or you as an artist. As being passionate about art. Like, practice, practice and practice to show improvement - to think outside the box. I feel that it's so special for the mangaka too like those intricate details that you can only see in medieval classic storybooks.
The story is straightforward for me, like in a good way. I miss these types of writing. I miss reading classics. And I feel like reading something nostalgic when I'm reading Atelier.
I feel really motivated to draw again by Ryoko Kui and Kamome Shirahama. I mainly do technical drawings nowadays as it is my job and a way to survive - which doesn't pay much to be honest. And mainly just using software for it, though it's easier and required that way. So I lost the drive to continue improving. Like life is routinely work, eat and sleep. But lately, reading these sparks something to pick my pen again and practice practice practice.
I'm really glad I read Dungeon Meshi and Witch Hat Atelier.

I can't really read nor study Japanese writing, so this is pure intuition and a bit of a guessing game.
Though to be honest I thought that these were the gangs as babies but Izutsumi wasn't there and it's a Gnome. So I guess this is Ryoko Kui's race baby templates - cause that's how Marcille and Laios were drawn. They're really cute.

Bruh, Witch Hat Atelier's magic system reminds me of Luz Noceda doing magic in Owl House - which reminds me that I haven't finished season 3.
That system is what actually pulled me more with the Owl House, so I'm excited to see that in Atelier.
Also, the way the panelling (I love this so much) and story telling is somewhat like a fairy tale-ish or folk tale type of vibe which is actually refreshing and kinda new.
I wanna catch up but I think I'm gonna slow down my pace for this manga.

I'm already caught up with Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu / The Summer Hikaru Died with Chapter 24. I'll probably browse some raws to know what happened.
The mystery and kind of Cthulu/lovecraft thing is good, yet I sympathize with "Hikaru". It's trying so hard and I don't really know if it's a genuine attraction to Yoshiki. As a reader, it made me really curious to what might be the secret uncovering the village.

not to be annoying but i do think a lot of people mischaracterize falin. shes got the most drastic canon v fanon thing going on. which i guess makes sense bc 1. we dont see much of her and 2. lot of the fan stuff are anime-onlies that have seen even less
but i think like a good 90% of the time i see falin-centric art or posts im like hrm hrm hrm thats all wrong no nope no-siree
she's just a cool chick that takes life as it comes, doesn't hold grudges even against a mother that apparently was trying to beat the magic outta her, finds her older brother the coolest person in the world, and has autism about observing life (and death, she loves the ghosts she has a connection to) and nature and taking care of things (including taking care of her brother, which is why she's even in the dungeons; she saw her scrawny mess of a brother and decided she had to fix that).
and i think my favorite part that people don't talk about is... she would have done the same for marcille or laios if it were one of them that was eaten. you could see it in her eyes:
it's what shuro misunderstands about her. it's easy to see her feminine, cute, good girl pieces and forget the rest of her. but she loves things to an ends-of-the-earth extent; the kind of caring that makes you a little insane. and that's how I think she and laios end up on the same page with their weirdness. they have different interests, but they are the same level of committed to those interests.

Yeah, I kinda read the lyrics that were translated in English. I just have a sense that ED is about Farcille. Since Marcille is in the cover.
Though it could be interpreted for the Touden siblings, but it's leaning more in Marcille's psyche. So yeah.
