i feel like a broken record but i swear i’m not dead djfjjfjff. since the last time i updated both good and bad things have happened, and unfortunately the bad just really screwed me up for a few months and i completely lost the motivation for art. not fun! very much not fun.

wish i could say i can get back to this blog right now but. that’d be a lie, oops. right now i’m in my senior year of college and im working on my senior project, which is currently taking up a lot of time. plus, i want to redo some of the icons since i changed the aspect ratio for my other pmd icons.

tentatively hoping to get back to this before the end of the year. i’m watching sun and moon, specifically the alola league, and seeing guzma’s scizor is making me miss my girl

Sorry for being gone. Burnout's a bitch and a half and I'm not doing well in any regard.

My mom and younger brother are currently at a Urgent Care Vet for my cat, Reeses, who's been having signs of a FUTI. I was told that the price of treatment would be $1200 at the minimum.

Due to my job, I do not make a lot of money and I currently have NO money to fund this at all. Not only that, but I am all the way in New York, while my family is still in Arizona.

Was looking through an older sketchbook for something and found a meme redraw with older characters designs and realizing its munday so. here ya go

Just remembered that post asking about old ask blog character designs and I can't believe I completely forgot about Jambu's old design... I never made any digital art of it but she was originally a Beedrill named Barbie. I decided to change it because I wanted to have more late-gen Pokemon on there and I felt like Lurantis fit her way better (and I also like Lurantis a lot more than Beedrill lol, and I feel like it kinda works because Jambu is... not fantastic in this first arc, so it feels better to do that with a Pokemon I like)

Headcanon: Since Princely has Frosmoth genes, he's actually well-adjusted to the cold and probably not too fond of the heat. His wings are also pretty cold to the touch, but touching them probably sets off his sleep powder (and also it's very rude to touch a bug's wings probably)

Ooo I like that! I'd already had him being used to cold weather as an aspect of his character once he'd evolved, but the thing about his wings is a super nice touch! I just might lean into that, thank you!

This happened super early on during the blog (literally as I was drawing the Petalroot fantasy post) but I had to change the species of one major character on the blog. Dax, who was originally a Pinsir

The two main reasons I changed him were because 1. I cannot draw Pinsir and the thought of drawing him repeatedly, especially in one fight scene I have planned later down the line, actually kinda made me want to cry LOL. And 2. I don't really like Pinsir much as a Pokemon sorry :( and I have a rule for myself that when making Pokemon OCs, I can't make any Pokemon I don't like the butt of a joke or an antagonist, and Dax sorta falls into the former at times and definitely falls into the latter initially, as much as I didn't want to admit it to myself. I was commited to keeping him a Pinsir for mostly meta reasons, like how it was the counterpart to Scyther and is known for being rivals with Heracross, both things I would lampshade on the blog, but the fact that I hated drawing him combined with how meanspirited it felt, it just didn't sit right with me.

So! He's an Escavalier now! Ironically it's a lot more fun to draw than Pinsir (albeit still difficult but not as much), and since he's still a beetle, I can still make beetle fighting jokes later on in the blog LOL. I also just think it suits him a lot better as the thrill seeking, battle hungry, "knight in shining armor" type. Plus, I really like Escavalier and have been meaning to try one out for a while, so it's a good excuse to look into it a bit more ^^

OOOOO this is a fun one that i’ve actually thought about quite a bit :D

so most pokemon don’t even know who lunala (the entire evolutionary line by extension) is! they’ve only been recorded together once before, aeons ago when pokemon first started to grow more sentient and build their societies, when a lone pokemon witnessed the creation of a cosmog. over the millennia that followed, naturally, the encounter was stretched overtime and most pokemon who do know about it assume it was a hallucination because there is no evidence whatsoever that the cosmog line exists in their world. some have theorized that theyre the physical spirits of the sun, moon, and stars however. if darkrai and cresselia are commonly seen as fairytale characters, the cosmog line are seen as concepts rather than sentient pokemon

the one from explorers of sky has a rework in my verse (or at least an au? bc god i do not like canon pmd!darkrai LMAO) where he serves a similar role in participating in a wide-scale threat, so pretty much wide-scale? tbh idk what the scale is here, lol, but i like to think that the lunar duo are commonly seen as storybook characters because theyre very, very elusive creatures, and the ones that are seen as typically lost to time or regarded as fairytale twists on existing events
