FICS I’VE READ THIS WEEK (29)
Hello everyone. Dudes. I am the epitome of Hannah Gadsby this week. I’m sure you are too. We all deserve a big ice cream sundae after all this. 🍨
So, as you all know, I am Canadian - but like my southern neighbours, I have spent most of the week refreshing the CNN interactive map, the CTV interactive map, the 270towin interactive map, my twitter feed (that is thankfully fandom free except for Michael at @BamSmackPow), and then back again. Like most of us, I was hoping for a wave - and now knowing that 45 was not an aberration but was instead a mirror… well that’s just sad. And I know it’s a Canadian thing to do - but I’m so sorry, guys. Let’s continue to pray for the end to this madness. 💙
Additionally - it’s been a busy work week for me - two payrolls and two visits into the office with all sorts of meetings set up for those two days while I’m not remote. My daughter had to self-isolate earlier in the week because someone in her class was positive for Covid-19 - she was able to get a test on Tuesday and by yesterday morning I got the text that she was negative - but it was a scary couple days for us. But thankfully all Salmons are healthy at the moment.🐟
As for my new obsession (that remains @feelavalanche‘s fault) - after over fifteen years of being a Wikipedia editor, I’ve finally created my first Wikipedia article (it was for Vilhelm Blomgren) that is now in Draft status waiting to be approved by the powers that be. That was exciting. I’ve watched Midsommar three times this week (it’s a good movie to put on in the background when you’re doing payroll reports - aside from the naked ritual sex scene at the end. Is it weird I ffwd through that scene? I dunno.) - and last night I downloaded all the episodes of HBO Nordic’s Gösta (which, in the first five minutes, I actually saw Ville’s penis and I was like this 😲🤯😵- because it’s hard to wrap my head around European attitudes about unexpected nudity… I didn’t think I was a prude but now I’ve seen this hot man’s junk and I’m as embarrassed as my mom was when Elvis shook his hips when she was thirteen years old. I’m such a Puritan… but also - GET IT LINDA! *cough* 🤦♀️). I’ve probably learned more about the man than is really healthy for a rational fangirl but his daughter Edda is super adorable and he and his fiancé (the Linda I mentioned above) are having another baby in January! I love them. So pleased. Need to learn Swedish. Seriously. I have to google translate most of his Instagram stories… I’m a mess. lol.
ANYWAY I’m rambling. Sorry. Of course there were fics read this week. Not a lot of fics - but there were fics. I had to read things to take my mind off the craziness but I admit that I was not easily distracted by good fic - I’ve been doomscrolling for most of the week. Hopefully next week will be better for all of us.
