I visited the Tampa Museum of Art where the American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell exhibit displayed Norman Rockwell’s works throughout his life. My favorite piece is the triple self portrait, not because it is one of the most popular but because it is a completely different way of painting a self portrait that I would have never thought to do before. Norman has such an amazing eye for detail that it looks like someone took a photograph of him from behind. I often try to put as much detail into my pieces as humanly possible and to see what Norman Rockwell can do in his paintings continues to inspire me.

Last Brief Assignment.
This was a collaboration project where, everyone in the group drew a tree and the trees were photoshopped to look like a forest. For the real picture the each person painted a background which was all blended together and layered under a clear plate of black branches.

Brief Assignment 3
Using objects that I found while taking a walk around my apartment complex, I decided to make a 3D map. Using shells I glued them upright in an unnatural position to mimc a city. Using sticks, half a pine cone, and flowers I created a forest with most of it’s trees cut down. A log is put in between the forest and the Shell City drawing the eye to the Leaf Mountain which over looks the entire area.

Cildo Meireles is an artist mostly known for his large scale installation pieces that the audience can interact with.
This piece is called Through, 1983-1989.
It is a maze of barricades, museum ropes, garden fences, blinds, railings, and aquariums that invites the audience to walk across eight tons of broken plate glass towards the ball of cellophane in the center.
Meireles notes that the essential part of Through is the sense of psychological unease that comes from the participant's realization of the different sensory capacities and capabilities between the eyes and the body.
