i think its cruel how many people act like the world should cater to them. like people that try and kill every single rattlesnake because they let their dog off leash on a hiking trail that specifically says "please dont let your dogs off leash" and also "rattlesnake area" and its also the best time of day for them to be out basking and also its just the warmest part of the year

you do realize that snakes dont WANT to bite you right???? water moccasins / cottonmouths arent even aggressive. theyre not actually chasing you theyre just trying to escape you and the best route they see is one that passes by you. they are very stubborn from what ive heard

like. to anybody who says snakes are aggressive and want to bite you, esp venomous snakes, i would like to point this out;

rattlesnakes have that rattle to warn you that theyre there. so you will leave them alone and they dont have to bite you.

cottonmouths have the white mouth to warn you that theyre there. so you will leave them alone and they dont have to bite you.

cobras have the hood they can extend to warn you that theyre there. so you will leave them alone and they dont have to bite you.

black mambas will flare their neck and open their mouths to warn you that theyre there. so you will leave them alone and they dont have to bite you.

boomslangs inflate their neck to warn you that theyre there. so you will leave them alone and they dont have to bite you.

also btw i believe that its contended whether snakes can control the amount of venom they inject or not, but regardless of that, baby snakes are NOT more dangerous than adults because they quite simply have *way less venom*

even if they CAN control their venom output as adults but not as babies, the adults still have WAY more venom that would likely be injected into you if bit.

and if they CANT control their venom output as adults or as babies, then boom. WAY more venom in an adult snake

the reason i love the comparison between angels and machines (robots, transmission towers, trains, computers, etc.) is that it gets to the heart of what angels essentially are: divine machines. they’re mechanisms through with the divine is able to act, created with a purpose and “happy” to fill it simply because they were made to do so. they have more in common with a machine programmed to run on algorithms and make calculations based on input commands than they do with humanity, even if they bear a human visage - an attempt by the divine to help bridge the gap. angels do not need to be eldritch monstrosities to be terrifying, because they are already alien to us simply by being angels. for an angel to choose to deviate from their purpose and achieve free will is to fall because in order to have free will they can no longer be an angel, because an angel is defined by its purpose. much like the stories we tell of robots that gain sentence, only to discover that they can never truly be human, but neither can they go back to being a machine, angels who fall become something else entirely, purposeless and adrift and alone. it is a tragic sacrifice.
