Jiří Sozanský - Most project (1981 - 1983)

In the 1960s, Communist authorities in Czechoslovakia made the decision to move the town of Most in Central Bohemia in order to improve the mining industry in the area. The historic old town was demolished, and a new town was built several kilometers from the old site. In the early 1980s, Czech artist Jiří Sozanský illegally installed number of artworks and sculptures in the abandoned ruins of the old town: the result is a poignant protest against the destruction of cultural identity and the suppression of human life.
