My Progress - Week 12
What is working?
The company is coming along great and I'm happy to carry through with the business in years to come. I think this is a great way for a business for someone too young to start.
What is not working?
Sometimes it is very difficult with weather that has caused a bit of frustration and stress but I figured it all out and got it all figured out and was really happy with the way things turned out and was a way of spreading and making the business bigger.
How do you feel the project is coming?
I feel that this project is coming along great. I've had a great turn out with customers and am happy for myself with the business.
What are you learning about running a business?
I'm learning a lot about running a business. It has been a great turn out for the business and with the weather getting warmer it has been great because I am able to get back out doing the business outside too. I will be cleaning the house as well.
What are you learning about yourself?
I am learning a lot about myself and how the business runs. It's a great learning point.

My Progress - Week 11
What is working?
The business is coming along great and really happy with the turnout of everything and happy and excited to continue through with this.
What is not working?
It can be challenging sometimes with the way things roll out sometimes. It was getting pretty busy with the business and was overwhelming but I got it all figured out and things are going great.
How do you feel the project is coming?
I feel really good with the way the project is turning out things are good, really good.
What are you learning about running a business?
I am learning a lot about running a business this following week was really busy and overwhelming and there are definitely going to be more times that are busier than others which was good to learn and how to handle it when it comes.
What are you learning about yourself?
I am learning from this past week that things can get busy and learning how to handle when times are like that.

What is working?
I am excited that things are coming along great and more people are reaching out which is really helping my business. The support has been great and i am super happy with my results so far.
What is not working?
There can always be challenges with anything in life but now with the days getting warmer it has been the time to adventure back out and countuie with the business outside but i a still keeping ym cleaning going as well.
How do you feel the project is coming?
I feel great about the project and how it is coming along really well. I have been learning lots are growing lots with getting the experience.
What are you learning about running a business?
I am learning lots about running a business, its never easy sometimes its personal growth along the way. I never thought that i would be able to start up a company and expand but it is gonig well and im super happy with everything.
What are you learning about yourself?
I am learning lots about myself, feeling very grateful for everything and the great feedback from my customers.

What is working?
Things have been great, im really happy with the way everything is working out with my business. The cleaning part has come along way and is definitely something that has extended my business in working out.

Still due to weather its been difficult to be outside for my business but great that i could expand and add on my business.

I feel this project is coming along good learning new things.
What are you learning about running a business?
Learning about how certain things are to be done and having good timing with customers to meet their needs.

I am learning self independence and what it is like to be out working for yourself.

What is working?
Due to the weather and having a business that is to do with the outdoors can be difficult with weather, i have expdanded out and have added on cleaning part of my business for the mean time, i think it was a great idea and definitely got things rolling into place.
What is not working?
The down side of the business is the way i wanted things it been hard with the weather but definitely can do yard clean ups but have expanded to help my business.
How do you feel the project is coming?
I feel this project is coming along good and im happy with the way things have turned out. Sometimes you have to switch it up abit to get things rolling and help yourself to be successful.
What are you learning about running a business?
I am looking alot and not that everything is easy and definitely been a good ride to get things figured out.

Learning how to be independent and problem solving in situations.

What is working?
Advertising and cards with phone number and the cost and expenses with materials
What is not working?
Not many people right now due to weather but definitely will get more customers as the warmer weather approaches.
How do you feel the project is coming?
I feel worried about this company due to the weather and the timeline of the project but i am sure i can manage it and get it running for the spring and to add maybe cleaning of houses due to the weather or yard clean ups till warm weather is here.
What are you learning about running a business?
Cost management, equipment, learning how to run your own business but being around people really helps you so you know how to do it.
What are you learning about yourself?
Learning how to problem solve for myself and to manage things on my own.

Where will I get the Money?
Having the right financial source for my business to be successful is so important. Through taking a look at the BDC article I have found 4 factors that could affect financing my business start-up.
Personal Investment : Personal investment is a great way to start up a business. Investing in my own money and having confidence. With the $50 set aside for essentials such as rake, leaf bags etc, it's the dedication and investment in the company to expand.
Love Money : Startups that require love money funding are generally assumed to not fit the requirements of traditional financing sources like banks. Borrowing from my family or friends can provide a source of patience without strict requirements from bigger leaders. However there can be some disadvantages, such as The temptation to gain more money leads people to work long hours.
Grants : Grants are a great way to help in some ways. A grant is a sum of money conditionally given to your business that you don't have to repay. You are bound legally to use it under the terms of the grant, or otherwise you will be asked to pay it back. For the grants for my business I would be putting towards perhaps lawn tractors or other machinery.
Loans : Loans can be a great starter point as well to help the business. With a solid business plan and a good credit rating are more likely to be able to access loans. Securing them for start-ups can be challenging.
Overall, each financial source can have advantages or disadvantages. Therefore it takes a lot of hard work and determination to find the way to become successful.

Business Operations Plan
The business I am planning to take on is an in-person business, which means that there are products I will need to buy for me to continue. The products I will need to buy to start up would consist of a rake, leaf bags, and garbage bags for garbage on the properties. I already have a lawn tractor that I can use for cutting grass which is already a great help to the start of the business. Another way I could use the money for a startup is using it for advertisement for cards and posters to put around. Overall I think I have a pretty good start for the business and the essentials I will need.

She has a busy lifestyle of balancing the career she wants, her social life, and maintaining herself. She would love to get to know more about the industry of lawn care to help build up her business.
Benefits: The benefits that Scarlett can take in from the career she wants to go with is it is good she understands the industry as she has worked with companies before and getting the education she needs for it to continue. Having those additional courses is always good for her to strive for her career.
Needs and challenges: Scarlett can see the competition with the other companies, challenges that can come along with the company is seeing where the best price sits for her. This could lead to some staff calling in sick which leads to being suck with the customers. The needs are having good staff and staff that are pleasant, with good customer service oriented. That can work in all weather conditions.
Goals and preferences: Seeing Scarlett's company stand out more than the competition with others. Always has herself set in a good place to be ready for anything that comes back to her and she can use customer advice for improvement in the company.
Buying process: After seeing some of the companies around the area, Scarlett can see that the process can be a harder start but seeing the other companies' equipment to know where she is at. Knowing where the best price pointer is. Looking at the student government grants to start up the business.

Feasibility
Through research of three main competitors within my field of lawn care maintenance, I have chosen the following; Simcoe Lawns Ltd, The Grounds Guys of Barrie, and Clarkson Property Ltd.
Simcoe Lawns Ltd: They have great services that are offered, they do both commercial and residential lawn care services such as, weekly grass mowing, edge trimming, garden bed weeding, litter pick up, fall and spring clean up, new sod and lawn installation, mulch installation, seeding and core aeration, fertilizing and weed control, adn tree and shrub care. The website is laid out great and easy to find what you need. Their reviews were great, going through some of them I didn't see anything negative which is great for this company which means clients are happy.
The Grounds Guys of Barrie: They offer both residential and commercial as well. Services they offer are lawn and grounds maintenance, landscape design and installation, fertilization, weed, adn pest service, holiday lighting installation, snow and ice service, flower and garden bed maintenance, tree adn shrub maintenance, artificial turf service, and power and pressure washing. Going through their website it was good maybe to have it a bit more clear and a bit more organized other than that it was good. Looking at the reviews I did see a mix of reviews and some comments about their work and attitude towards customers.
Clarkson Property Ltd: This business offers full service property maintenance and landscaping company serving Barrie and area. They can provide you with efficient, reliable and professional property maintenance service and landscaping services. The website is laid out well and organized. I have heard very good things about this company. It is a local one in my area. They offer many different kinds of services to help provide the needs for their customers. The reviews looked really good and highly recommended from lots of people.
Overall the companies I looked into were great! You gotta start somewhere and these companies started small and worked their way up now by offering different kinds of services. Their companies were starting at a pay of $20-25/hr. Then to add for customers services and supplies. Personally I would like to have a good website so it is easy to navigate for everyone and make it so customers are interested. Basing myself off of what I have researched, I know where I can strengthen myself for certain areas.

Strengths & Weaknesses
As someone who is around companies that are personally owned and run by, I feel I have noticed myself to know some of my strengths and weaknesses in this field of work. Strengths that I have when it comes to being in this field is I have great leadership and confidence in myself. Having good self-confidence is essential because it allows you to feel better and makes it easier to overcome challenges and take risks. Being very passionate about what you do, your work should be your passion, so that when you work, you enjoy what you're doing and stay highly motivated. I am someone to feels motivated when it is something I enjoy doing and seeing myself succeed. For example, when working for our family business I enjoy working and seeing jobs from start to finish it motivates me every day. Weaknesses are common and something you can work on to do better. I feel a weakness I have if I were to continue to have a business of my own would be I need more experience in financial planning. It can be very hard on someone who isn't the strongest with money and how to roll out and plan to make sure you will have enough to do what you want and to be successful. Another weakness could be a lack of vision, with having so many thoughts and great ideas and having to know which would be the best idea for you to succeed, I do struggle with trying to make decisions and fear if it will be the right decision for myself as all these ideas are in my head. There are many ways to come upon these weaknesses and it is something I look forward to learning in the course. I am definitely ready to make room for improvement in this area of business.
