mere moments before the masquerade officially began, adults finally celebrating the night of halloween with alcoholic beverages flowing, different from the candy the children received, madeleine left the ballroom searching for some serenity. she wandered around the city hall until her eyes fell on the ancient mirror ( gold-rimmed and one of the rare objects untouched by decoration ). light blue eyes stared at her own reflection, disliking how they were the same shade as her father’s, but mostly hating herself for never noticing the similarity earlier. distraction came in the form of manicured hands releasing blonde waves from the chignon. she licked her lips, removing the lip gloss, as she noticed somebody in the back of her eye. their reflection in the mirror becoming more prominent as they walked towards her. ‘ the ballroom is next door, ’ the blonde said softly, turning around so she could point towards the right direction.
after several minutes spent in the bathroom benny finally left with his mask and laurel now firmly attached his slicked down hair. he started heading back towards where he thought the ballroom might’ve been but instead found himself facing someone’s back, their eyes meeting in the mirror. “ oh, i’m sorry i disturbed you. “ he said quickly, cheeks turning pink. “ thank you. are you also here for the uh, ball halloween party thing? “

valarie wanted have a couple of drinks after a long day at the ER, and caught herself playing darts at sharp shooters. the curly headed nurse downed her last shot, wiping her mouth on her sleeve, “ok, twenty bucks says,” she reached into her scrub pocket for the money, slamming it on the pool table, “ i can make a bullseye! two bullseye!” she said confidently, holding up two fingers.. valarie positioned herself in front of the board, “ my friends always said i’m a terrible shot, so this twenty might be yours.” she winked, picking up the darts from the table. she ready her aim, closing one of eyes to focus on the dot, and threw the dart at the target. it hits the wall, away from the target board, and she couldn’t help but snort and laugh. she lazily gave the twenty to the person next to her.
theo watched the other with raised eyebrows, shot laying in front of him to be temporarily forgotten. “ yeah, sure. totally taking that bet. “ he agreed, slipping the twenty into his own pocket when she’s turned her back to him. he laughed as she flopped it, quickly throwing back his own shot and going to pick up the dart. “ let’s make a new bet. i bet i can at least make the dart land on the board. “
