A peek into the journals of Octavia Butler.
Legendary sci-fi author Octavia Butler wrote landmark books like Kindred, Parable of the Sower, and Dawn. In a notebook of hers archived at the Huntington Library, it’s clear Butler had a strong vision for her future. On this page in 1988, she wrote, “My books will be read by millions of people. So be it! See to it!”
That’s what happened—after willing her work into existence, her work is now part of the science fiction canon.

Aventuras de Kirlian - Una historia
If interested, opt for the “86-88″ CD of early demos from 2001, as opposed to anything that happened to their sound after labels got involved. They only lasted a few years past that point, and their charm was lost in the process. Rudimentary and brief seemed to be the ideal, but their songs got stretched out and their quality misunderstood in the hands of producers. Although if you listen to their singles or their one and only full-length from 1991, the songcraft is still there. Let the VHS quality highlight that for you below, with their televised performance of “Un día gris” and “El cielo”:

Wish I knew what they sounded like. Reason #31294764 why it’s so important for less represented people in punk to be photographed, videoed, recorded, and interviewed. When you don’t leave behind material culture, it’s easier for people to forget that you ever existed, and the next generation feels like they have to reinvent the wheel and break down the barriers all over again.
