So, what if Modern!Reader could talk to animals? Arthur and Reader are in Lemoyne when the legendary panther comes out of nowhere. Arthur goes to shoot it when they stop him and speak to it. As he wonders if they finally lost it, the panther starts chirping and replying to them. They tell Arthur he's hungry. They feed him and leave. When they get back to the gang, they found out he followed them. He was lonely and grew attached to them. Now the gang has a panther who keeps unwanted people out.
Arthur, frantically aiming his rifle at the panther: “Y/N, get behind me!”
Reader, stepping directly in his line of fire: “Wait! I got this.”
Also Reader, to the panther: “Brrrrrpt?”
The Panther: “… Brrpt brrpt. Brrpt brrpt brrpt.”
Arthur: “What in the–”
Reader: “Heya Arthur, ya still got that rabbit? This guy’s hungry.”
*Later…*
Dutch and Hosea, concerned: “Arthur… Y/N… why is there a panther in camp?”
Arthur, watching as the panther claws Micah: “Why not?”
I love the differences in Arthur and John’s journals cause Arthur has these beautiful drawings and poetic descriptions to fit, and John’s journal is just kinda like
Quill: If I die, my funeral’s gonna be the biggest fucking party and you’re all invited.
Tony: “If.”
Kraglin: Great, the only party I’ve ever been invited to and he might not even die.
