Google is actively blocking Captcha on Firefox
Firefox users have noticed that captchas - both the picture kind and the click the box kind - are not resolving on Firefox. Tests on Chromium based browsers show that it works perfectly fine on them. It is also known that Chrome will be disabling all ad-blockers in June when it moves to Manifest v3, which will greatly limit what extensions can do.
If you use Firefox, there is an extension called User-Agent Switcher and it allows you to change your browser's UA to Chrome. This will allow you to bypass reCaptcha/Captcha blocks set up by Google and make them function properly.
It could be a code snafu on Google's part - but given how predatory they have been acting lately, I'm going to guess not. Don't get locked out of your websites or feel forced to use Chrome again just to browse.

everyone please read this and share if you can.
Brazil is going through one of the worst climatic crisis ever seen.
i live in the southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. we have been suffering from extreme, nonstop rainstorms for a week now. the rivers are flooding, reaching 4-6 meters above their natural level. people are being rescued by helicopters, neighborhoods are being evacuated. entire cities are slowly but surely becoming submerged in water. 60 people missing and counting. 32 deaths and counting.
and this is not new. last november also had a flood like this one. 50 dead, many material losses. it happened again this january, with thousands being left without power or water for days.
three catastrophical disasters within less than a year. three disasters only a few months apart.
this is not natural.
unsustainable agricultural practices and politics led to this. a complete disregard for nature led to this. greed led to this. always greed.
when it comes to the climate crisis, i cannot stress this enough: we need to act now if we still want to live. disasters like this are going to happen more often and they're going to be much, much worse. this flood is being considered the worst climatic catastrophe in the history of my state. i don't know how long it will take for another bigger one to happen and take its place. i just know it will be sooner than it should.

a lot of the coverage of the Palestinian genocide is focusing on the US student protests and the narrative is constantly in danger of shifting away from what the protests are actually about and a lot of the language is now speaking in terms of police brutality, silencing of free speech, etc. It's not a radical thing to say that this isn't exactly helpful to the Palestinian cause if the actual reasons for the protests aren't constantly front and center. A lot of people have already made this point. I do not think the genie can necessarily be put back in the bottle with how the protests and the police reaction to them are entering the public consciousness of the USian people. A lot of people are or will become aware of these protests through the lense of these simply being instances of police brutality, and police brutality is a critical issue that many USamericans are very passionate about thus making it difficult to reframe the context of these images of police slamming white professors into pavement towards awareness of Israels decades long illegal occupation and systematic and indiscriminate displacement and murder of Palestinians. What I feel needs to be done is try to reframe these images flooding the internet not *away* from issues of police brutality and homesoil fascism, but in the wider context of imperialist governments taking the lessons they learn oppressing "foreign peoples" and turning them inwards. That police brutality is not disconnected from imperialist mass murder. That the one thing connecting the assaulted USian protester and the trans israeli denied gender affirming care for refusing to serve in the fascist Israeli military and the Palestinian child buried alive for the crime of being Palestinian... the one thing connecting them is that, sooner or later, they are all victims of power. Our rights are granted to us inequitably, unevenly, and are just as quickly stripped away when we do not serve the interests of fascist power. We are either a tool of the state or an enemy of the state. The Palestinian, not the innocent or the guilty but the human being Palestinian, is murdered because she can not be useful to the state while she is still breathing. She can never have the "privilege" of being a tool. I'll say it again: We outside of Palestine who can go to protests, who have families, who are able bodied, who can work, who can keep their head down or speak without immediate retaliation have the "honor" of choosing to be a tool of the state or an enemy of the state. The Palestinian has no choice.
There will always be an armed cop ready to arrest you and kill your brother as long as there is a bomb ready to drop on the heads of Palestinian children. Fascism trickles up and inward.

Addendum: THE FRENCH LOCALIZATION
A friend of mine had to share this from the FE3H French localization.
Tumblr media
Rough translation:
"Well would you look at that, her Imperial Majesty has the air of an angel*. What could be the reason behind such a radiant smile?"
*expression: to be in a state of ecstatic joy
Okay, so in the French version of this game Edelgard is totally smiling and apparently is so joyous that Claude has to describe it as 'radiant.'
I love being proven right.
"dog with a stick"
I think about this line sometimes. During the Siege of Garreg Mach on a Golden Deer playthrough, if you get Claude to fight Edelgard they will have a special dialogue that just makes me think a lot about how Edelgard (and Dimitri) is perceived by the fandom and even by people in the setting in contrast to this detail Claude gleans. Claude describes Edelgard "looking as pleased as a dog with a stick."
Hm. Hmmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
There is a chance Claude is just trying to prod Edelgard for a response. His follow-up is a question; "what made you be this way" (or something to that effect). Claude says things to get a rise out of people so they betray information, Edelgard is characterized as dour and stoic in a lot of scenes and described as such by a lot of people. Comparing her to a content dog could just be something Claude is using to get under the skin of the proud and graceful princess. Maybe Claude could be cracking a joke. Edelgard is a bit of a miserable person at times, maybe the "wow you look happy" is just Claude being tauntingly sarcastic. This is open to a bit of interpretation.
Still, Claude is perceptive and a lot of facial expressions in these in-game dialogue scenes are left to the mind's eye. Edelgard does have a line with Hubert if they are assigned to pulling weeds in the post-skip monastery (do we ever think about how our protagonists can be assigned to pull weeds for a week in the ruins of the monastery while they are supposed to be leading armies and nations against each other) about how thoroughly the Imperial Army had damaged the Cathedral. Remember that Edelgard made the monastery her military headquarters in Crimson Flower, she is jovially remarking how much she damaged her own base. Still, the point is the same; how much did Edelgard enjoy destroying Garreg Mach? Was it only visible to Claude or was it visible to anyone paying attention? Was it just for Garreg Mach or does it extend to other things? Edelgard's violent streak is often perceived by fandom and even characters in the story to be cold and ruthless, but what if there is something a bit more hot under the surface?
I bring this up to converse about because a war-mongering dog basking in the destruction of their enemies is... well, it is a theme I often see applied to Dimitri. A bloody hound, a reveling killer, emotions worn openly and without reservation. We all know about how Dimitri gets compared to these in fandom circles, but it is kind of funny that the only character in canon who gets this exact combination of descriptors leveled at them (implicitly) is Edelgard by Claude.
I do not have a larger point to make. I do not even disagree with the fandom attitude here, I have read some excellent takes about Dimitri using these descriptions. It is just something to think about, you know? Appreciate the irony of it.

I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you're unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you've put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I'm not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.
but consider this: what would you do if you suddenly had to leave your home? how would you cope? how would you begin to plan where to go next, or figure out what to do to take care of yourself? most likely you would reach reflexively for your phone.
telecoms access is not a petty luxury in 2024. a loaded esim means the ability to call family members and find out where they are and whether they're safe, and whether they need anything you can provide for them. it means access to maps and regular updates on the situation unfolding around you. it means you can look up whether it's safe to drink rain water, or how to tie a type of knot you've never had to think about before, or how to treat an injury without medical supplies. it means the ability to tell people outside the situation what you are seeing, what you are feeling, what you are thinking. it is an absolutely crucial resource. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
many many people have observed that internet access is changing the way the world understands genocide. internet access is life or death, and it is shaping modern history in front of you. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
please, please visit gazaesims.com and spend 5 minutes and $6 to change the way this plays out for everyone.

Another aspect of the Gaza Genocide that I want to talk about is the complicity of Internet banking and crowdfunding websites like GoFundMe.
I have seen multiple Gazans raise enough money to leave for Egypt, but the banks and the crowdfunding websites freeze their money or cancel their funds for "suspicious activity" or whatever. Every day that passes in Gaza supplies get more scarce, conditions get more deadly, and the price to cross into Egypt gets more expensive. I've seen people, like ghost-90 here on Tumblr, raise the full amount to get their entire family out of Gaza, but their money gets frozen for so long that the original goal is only a fraction of the price now needed to cross the boarder.
These financial institutions should not be allowed to get away with contributing to the death toll in Gaza. They are intentionally keeping people trapped in a kill zone by withholding money that is rightfully theirs.
I'm so pissed and angry that every avenue for relief for Palestinians is being cut of left and right. It is vile that Gazans are being extorted for 10s of thousands of dollars by the Egyptian gov just to save their family's lives, but even when they play by this corrupt game, the world still finds a way to make them suffer.
My heart is with every Palestinian for the rest of time, from river to sea you will all be free. 🇵🇸❤️

Parallax - Chapter 1 - Dorkling - Fire Emblem: Fuukasetsugetsu | Fire Emblem: Three Houses [Archive of Our Own]
“How do you sleep at night?” Flayn stared at Edelgard, hovering on every word that would come from her question.
Edelgard carefully tasted her tea, putting more thought into whether she burned her mouth than the words that came out of it. “I keep a weapon on my person at all times.”
-----
Edelgard teaches Flayn how to defend herself. The consequences stretch farther than either could anticipate.

Edelgard should transform into the Hegemon Husk in every timeline. It is framed in Azure Moon as representative of Edelgard and her ambition and drive to change the world and I feel like this trait should be highlighted as her vice and virtue. In Crimson Flower, Edelgard is largely the same just that her willingness to accept/ignore collateral damage is lessened. The trait that makes Edelgard turn herself into a monster is still there. I think that would be a nice theme to tie Crimson Flower with the other routes, that Edelgard is still the 'monster' of the story, she just has more compassion in the CF timeline.
Have the contexts be different. In other timelines, Edelgard turns into a monster as a final gambit to secure her war, it shows her loss of humanity because it is Edelgard using herself as a final tool for victory. In Crimson Flower, play up how powerful the Immaculate One is and maybe how much Edelgard wants to save Fhirdiad from the flames, so Edelgard transforms herself not as a means of conquest but as a means of saving life. I genuinely think the stories of all the routes do not need that much editing to make Edelgard and her arc (be it rise or fall) more resonant.
Okay, and tone down the Byleth-simping Edelgard does by a metric tonne. Then Crimson Flower would have considerably less issues in my mind. It would be almost perfect.
