Finally Home! Backyard Photoshoot

I am finally home for the summer! Decided to take this fella back with me in order to get some nice outdoor photos. Be prepared to see a lot more of my collection photos.

OP of the original post turned off reblogs but as of 3 hours ago 3/3/24 Deux Face is still alive and doing well!! According to the farm's Facebook she is starting to try to stand and getting better at holding up her head. The farm has been very clear that they're going to care for her and do their best to meet her needs, they are not planning to sell her or show her off to the media. They also haven't mentioned any other noticeable deformities inside or out and have noted that both heads connect at the same throat, and she's lived for about 5.5 days at this point which is shockingly long for an animal with this level of deformities. Go Deux Face!

Seen at our local Fall Festival in town at the local Game and Wildlife Department's table. My wife sent me this pic and I got excited thinking it was for sale. Sadly it was not :(

I submit to you that the most iconic feature of any animal is either unlikely or impossible to fossilize.

If all we had of wolves were their bones we would never guess that they howl.

If all we had of elephants were fossils with no living related species, we might infer some kind of proboscis but we’d never come up with those ears.

If all we had of chickens were bones, we wouldn’t know about their combs and wattles, or that roosters crow.

We wouldn’t know that lions have manes, or that zebras have stripes, or that peacocks have trains, that howler monkeys yell, that cats purr, that deer shed the velvet from their antlers, that caterpillars become butterflies, that spiders make webs, that chickadees say their name, that Canada geese are assholes, that orangutans are ginger, that dolphins echolocate, or that squid even existed.

My point here is that we don’t know anything about dinosaurs. If we saw one we would not recognize it. As my evidence I submit the above, along with the fact that it took us two centuries to realize they’d been all around us the whole time.

Lil something I found yesterday, but I was in a national park so taking it was a big no-no. Not only is it irresponsible to mess with such a delicate ecosystem as Great Smokey Mountains National Park, but them rangers got hidden game cams in the strangest places (which happens to be a lot of the places where I'm trying to piss?)

Despite the cranium being super gnawed on, I've seen enough raccoon bones in the wild to know who this fucker is.

Vultures are holy creatures.

Tending the dead.

Bowing low.

Bared head.
