Marvel Champions: The Card Game by @fantasyflightgames /@asmodee_games I've been busy since the Holidays and hadn't played a lot of Marvel Champions. So this week I decided to change that and get back to my favorite game. With the New Ant-Man movie coming soon, I decided to play my first solo game of 2023 as Ant-Man VS. KANG!! I hope the new movie is as epic as this match was. I was transported to Ancient Egypt and faced off against Rama-Tut one of Kang's many identities across the space time continuum. After thwarting the Pharoah, we transported back to the future to face Kang's final stage. Luckily, Ant-man assisted by his army of ants and an appearance by Nick Fury defeated Kang and saved the Time-line. #MARVELChampionsMonday A weekly series where I post about one of my favorite games... Marvel Champions: The Card Game by @fantasyflightgames /@asmodee_games This weeks topic is Cycle 6 Villain I ihave loved all the Scenarios and Encounter sets from Muntant Genesis but my favorite and the one that brings me the most nostalgia is the Sentinel and Project Widewake. This encounter was stripped right out of the 90's Cartoon's pilot episode. I loved how you would rescue captured X-men when you thwart the Abduction protocols side schemes. Even if this one was a bit easy it is still fun to setup and play out this memorable scene from my childhood. Last night 🌙 I sat down with @tabletop_arcanum and we started the Campaign for Muntant Genesis. It was Wolverine and Shadowcat VS Sabertooth. In the Scenario we must first find Senator Kelly or else he takes 2 damage at the start of the villain phase and he only has 9 HP and if he is defeated we lose. So getting the Senator was a priority. Turn 1 villain phase @tabletop_arcanum was able to defend for both of us and we took no damage so we were off to a great start...until the encounter cards came out. I got 'Shadows of the past' which brought out Wolverine's Nemesis Omega Red and a scheme that I had to clear before I could do damage to his 8 HP health pool. Then @tabletop_arcanum 's encounter card was my Obligation card which made me flip to Logan and exhaust my hero to get rid of it. On my second turn I was able to take care of Omega Red at the expense of all my resources and cards at my disposal. After this we continued through the game pushing the Villain into his second stage and managing the threat pretty well. We felt we were doing ok until I got Shadows of the past for a second time! 🙄💀That caused a downward spiral and led to us eventually scheming out and losing. It was a fun first attempt and we plan to continue but last night just wasn't our night. Anyone else have a rough start to a campaign? Let me know in the comments. #MARVELChampionsMonday A weekly series where I post about one of my favorite games... Marvel Champions: The Card Game by @fantasyflightgames /@asmodee_games This weeks topic is Cycle 5 Hero Cycle 5 saw the introduction of the Web Warriors traited heros and ally's but also included the addition of some Champion Heroes as well. Miles' aka Spider-Man, Nova and Ironheart all joined the hero roster along with Sp//Dr, Spider-Ham and Ghost spider, Gwen Stacy, but of all these Hero's Ironheart stole the show. She is the first hero with Multiple Hero/ alter-ego cards as throughout a gamw with Ironherat you will be gaining Upgrade tokens to spend to modify and uograde your armor to bigger and better Versions of itself. Starting with a 1, 2, 3 stat line and ending with 3, 2, 3 in her final form is amazing in itself. Mix in her ability to contine to gain research tokens and spending them in her final form to deal 2 damage for each token and she can push some serious damage to close out the game. IRONHEART is a ton of fun to play and she contineues to be my prefered ironman esque character to play. Next weeks post will be all about Cycle 5 Villains from Sinister Motives. #firstimpressionsfriday🎲 started by @kay_plays_games Been a while since I had a new game to play and talk about on Friday. Earlier this week I received my kickstarter copy of Flamecraft by @cbalchemy And @luckyduckgames. I became aware of the project because I am a huge fan of @pvaughan007 and his work on #dwellingsofeldervale. I knew this was a completely different game but also knew by the campaign that the same level of quality and production would be on point. I loved the Art by @art_of_sandara and wish I could live in this little world they created. Pros: Art, components, storage solutions are all amazing. Each dragon card and shop have unique art by the incredible @art_of_sandara . Components in the deluxe edition are screen printed wood pieces and are very vibrant. The game comes with some stellar organizers by @gametrayz It has one for all the cards and dragons and two smaller 6 compartment trays for the resources. Another pro for me is its simplicity. They have simple rules and simple actions you take each turn. You can visit a shop and either gather resources or enchant a shop by spending resources. I also enjoyed the race trying to collect as much reputation ( Victory points) as possible before the end is triggered by drawing or revealing the last card of either the dragon or enchntment decks. Cons: it is a table Hog! Aesthetically I really enjoy the look of the long street that the shops occupy but it makes it so hard to see all of what's going on without standing and walking around to get a better look. The available dragons in the park and the enchantments that are available are on opposite sides of the board and just think it could benefit from a more condensed board. Also while I enjoy the simplicity of the actions the 6 types all have the same abilities' and while this will be great for teaching my kids and new gamers on Wonder if after more plays I'll be wanting more eventually 🤔 Overall I am happy with Flamecraft and knew what i was purchasing, a family weight game and I hope my kids enjoy it when I teach it to them. I am looking forward to getting it to the table a few more times to see how it holds up especially with more players.
