OKAY you inspired me to look for drawings that do actually show my attempts at drawing (semi-)realistic wolves. and i did find these two fully rendered pieces of the previously mentioned OCs!
i also found the first drawing of the red wolf! all the inverted crosses and a pentagram because i was such an edgy metalhead satanist
while at it i also wanna show off some of the artists whose art i found very inspiring at the time! this is the kind of art i aspired to make back then (with various level of success... but now i switch between cartoony animals and semi-realistic werewolves rather effortlessly, so)
i have to start with my friend @bambipickle because she has been an inspiration to me for years! and she still continues to be one even if she doesnt draw as much as she used to. i can even say she was the biggest influence for me to actually pursue making this kind of art

i also wanna clear up one thing because i did say "i decided im gonna be a serious sparkledog artist" which is not entirely true. i was not familiar with the term sparkledog at the time and i had no idea that was an existing niche in furry art. i was simply doing my own thang
similarly, iirc most of these artists did not consider themselves furries, let alone sparkledog artists. they just happened to draw a lot of feral and sometimes anthro animals, which did include also characters with less realistic designs.
when i was like 13 and decided im gonna be a Real Artist now which meant drawing in a semi-realistic art style with detailed shading and drawing detailed backgrounds. however i also made these clearly unnaturally colored wolves with neon accents
this one above is a redesign from 2019 but it pretty much kept the same palette
both of them were redesigned twice first time to make them slightly more realistic and the second time to make them sparklier again. but yeah there was one time where i decided im gonna be a serious sparkledog artist now
