i think a lot about how people within the arknights world think about things like horns, ears, and tails as body parts.

we know beeswax's whole thing where she has model-beautiful horns and a bunch of horn care products and gives other operators horn care tips.

it's treated like hair, right? like she has a hair care hobby? and good for her and all that.

okay, but tails.

the thick tail/thin tail factions in acahualla are in the same vein as people talking about what kind of butt is best, right? people talk about tails like they talk about someone's thighs or butt?

right? we agree on that?

so tomimi's prodigious tail would be seen by people on terra as like. equivalent to her having a ludicrously big ass? yes? like that's what we're supposed to take home from her up-from-behind E2 art?

the real kicker on children of ursus is the reveal that peterheim wasn’t the only school that reunion had locked kids into but it WAS the only one that had devolved into a lord of the flies hellscape. absinthe had escaped from a different school but was shocked at the state she found peterheim in - nor did she even consider that it was the students themselves who had wrecked the place to that extent. 

but peterheim was not a unique case, merely a microcosm of societal tensions that were present throughout all of ursus. as istina said, the first fire was merely the trigger that set off something that was already brewing. the tragedy at peterheim had everything to do with the fact that it was this school specifically where the children of nobility had been locked up together with children of much poorer background like zima. within the first day the nobles had started infighting and rosa was only able to unite them by throwing around the weight of her name and then turning them against the common people, who had been scared but reasonably united until then. only then did the situation at peterheim snowball into a living hell.

rosa is not a bad person in any common understanding of the term but she was still the result of a noble upbringing and believed herself to be preserving peace to the best of her ability by allowing the commoners to be terrorised for the sake of the nobility’s comfort, something which she did understand as A Bad Thing but believed herself to be forced into by circumstance - a line of thinking she is now so horrified by that she can barely stand to live with herself anymore. rosa did not kill anyone but she is directly responsible for the chaos at peterheim by allowing those under her command to pillage; the continued existence of nobility itself is a crime that rosa is guilty of and doesn’t know how to even begin to atone for now that she realizes the harm she has used her position for even when thinking she was being helpful. “if you’d killed me back then I would’ve been able to die believing myself to be a good girl forced by circumstance”
