"Stay the night with me. Please…" The plea hung in the air, charged with emotion. The magnetism of desire clashed with a hint of frustration.
The request was simple yet layered with unspoken words, begging for a response. The intensity of the moment lingered, waiting for a decision to be made.
The silence that followed seemed to stretch endlessly, filled with anticipation and uncertainty.
Each heartbeat echoed loudly in the room, underscoring the weight of the request and the gravity of the unspoken emotions that hung in the air. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
Eustass Kid, also known as the "Captain" of the Kid Pirates, is a notorious and feared pirate in the One Piece world. With his magnetic powers and fiery temper, he is not someone to be messed with.
Eustass Kid strikes fear into the hearts of both his allies and enemies alike, as his magnetic powers allow him to manipulate and control metal with deadly precision.
Combined with his explosive temper, he is a truly terrifying force to reckon with on the high seas.
You, being the newest member of the Straw Hat Pirates, had heard of the infamous Eustass Kid and his crew. They were known for their brutal methods and lack of mercy towards their enemies.
So when your crew unexpectedly crossed paths with the Kid Pirates, you were on high alert.
Luffy and the rest of the crew seemed more relaxed with the Kid Pirates, maybe it was because they had defeated many enemies side by side or maybe Luffy was too gullible into trusting him so easily.
But not you. You weren't going to fall for his tricks.
You sat far from the group, who looked like they were having the time of their lives, while you glared straight at the red-haired pirate with cautious eyes. You couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to Eustass Kid than meets the eye, and you vowed to keep a close watch on him, ready to defend yourself and your crew if necessary.
"Hey, why aren't you with the group celebrating?" Nami said curiously behind you.
Startled by Nami's sudden voice, you turned around quickly, trying to hide your unease. "Oh, I just needed some fresh air," you replied, forcing a smile.
"So why are you staring at Kidd like that?" Nami teased, sitting beside you.
You hesitated for a moment, then leaned in closer to whisper, "I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about him just doesn't sit right with me. I think there's more to him than meets the eye, and I don't trust him."
"Or maybe," Nami started, leaning closer, "You just like him,"
"No way!" you jumped back, feeling your face heat up. "That's not it at all! I just have a gut feeling about him, that's all."
Nami smirked mischievously and nudged your shoulder. "Sure, sure. Keep telling yourself that."
Nami then stood up, said goodbye, and walked over to the group, leaving you alone with your thoughts. As you continued to observe Eustass Kid from afar, you couldn't help but wonder what secrets he was hiding beneath that intimidating exterior. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
The atmosphere suddenly shifted as Sanji and some of Kid's crew finished preparing the feast. The cheers and laughter grew louder, and even Luffy couldn't contain his excitement.
"Y/N, the food is ready," You opened your eyes to see Killer standing over you, his mask covering his face as usual.
Killer, the stoic and enigmatic member of the Kid Pirates, rarely showed any emotion. His mask concealed his face, adding to the air of mystery surrounding him. It was hard to read his intentions or gauge his reactions, making him an even more intriguing figure to watch closely.
As he extended a hand to help you up, you couldn't help but wonder what lies behind that enigmatic facade.
With a yawn, you took his hand and stood up, ready to join the festivities.
Unfortunately, you had to sit beside Kid to eat as all the other seats were taken. As you took your place beside him, you couldn't shake off the feeling of unease and curiosity, wondering what secrets he was hiding and if they would ever come to light.
As you ate, you noticed that Kid was always tense even when he laughed, his body language betraying a constant state of alertness. It was as if he carried a weight on his shoulders, constantly on guard.
It only fueled your suspicion that there was indeed something more to him than meets the eye.
Suddenly, Kid stopped eating, his eyes darting around the room with a heightened sense of vigilance. His grip on his utensils tightened, and a frown creased his forehead as if he had sensed something amiss.
"I have to go," he said, suddenly standing up and walking over to where the ships were anchored.
Everyone was confused for a while but then they went back to talking to each other except Killer.
Killer's gaze remained fixed on the spot where Kid had disappeared to, his eyes filled with a mix of concern and curiosity. It was clear that he knew more than he let on, and you couldn't help but wonder what he had seen or sensed that made him so focused on Kid's departure.
Despite Killer's intense gaze and the mysterious departure of Kid, you chose to dismiss any concerns and immerse yourself in the joyous celebration.
It was a time to revel in the camaraderie and enjoy the feast, leaving any thoughts of hidden secrets and enigmatic figures for another day.
As the night wore on and the merriment continued, you found yourself in a friendly competition with Zoro to see who could hold their liquor better.
Shots were poured and downed, laughter and cheers filled the air, and for a fleeting moment, all thoughts of Kid and his mysterious aura faded away as you focused on the exhilarating challenge at hand.
"Okay, I give up," you declared, placing the bowl back onto the table. The drinking competition had taken its toll, and you were finally admitting defeat.
As you leaned back in your chair, feeling the effects of the alcohol, your mind couldn't help but wander back to the enigmatic figure of Kid and the unanswered questions that still lingered in the air.
As you stumbled away from the festivities, a nagging thought tugged at the back of your mind, reminding you that there was still much to uncover about Kid and the secrets he held.
As you stumbled towards the ships, the sound of a muffled voice reached your ears, growing louder with each step.
It sounded like a scream, piercing through the night air with an intensity that sent chills down your spine. Your heart raced as you followed the sound, the darkness shrouding the source of the scream adding to the sense of unease and mystery that surrounded Kid's sudden departure.
You quickened your pace towards the ships, your footsteps echoing through the quiet night. Suddenly, a loud bang reverberated through the air, causing the Kid Pirates' ship to tremble slightly.
Your heart skipped a beat as you realised that there was more to Kid's disappearance than meets the eye.
It was when you saw something red out of the corner of your eye, but it disappeared as soon as you turned to get a better look. The fleeting glimpse left you with a sense of unease and a nagging feeling that there was a deeper mystery surrounding Kid's disappearance.
"I can help you!" you yelled, your voice slurred because of the alcohol. But your words seemed to get lost in the night, swallowed by the darkness and the unsettling silence that followed.
Your vision then went black, and you went unconscious, collapsing onto the ground. The last thing you heard before succumbing to darkness was the distant sound of footsteps approaching, leaving you with an unsettling sense of dread and the lingering question of what had truly transpired that night. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
You woke up with a massive headache, the events of the previous night still hazy in your mind. As you tried to piece together the fragments of your memory, you couldn't shake off the feeling that something sinister had unfolded while you were unconscious.
You didn't remember how you had ended up in bed yesterday, yet here you were, tucked in your bed with no recollection of how you got there.
The missing hours only added to the mysterious puzzle surrounding Kid's disappearance, leaving you desperate for answers and determined to uncover the truth.
You swung your legs over the side of the bed, wincing as the throbbing pain intensified. The room spun as you stood up, and you had to steady yourself against the dresser.
As you stumbled towards the bathroom, you couldn't help but wonder if the events of the night before were somehow connected to your own sudden blackout.
You splashed cold water on your face, hoping to clear your mind and shake off the remnants of the alcohol-induced haze.
As you looked at your reflection in the mirror, you couldn't help but notice a faint red mark on your neck, as if someone had grabbed you forcefully.
The realisation sent a shiver down your spine, as you began to suspect that there might have been more to your blackout than just excessive drinking. The red mark on your neck hinted at a possible altercation or even an encounter with someone who had a vested interest in Kid's disappearance.
Feeling a renewed sense of urgency, you quickly changed your clothes and headed out, determined to retrace your steps from the night before and gather any clues that could shed light on what had happened during your blackout.
As you walked onto the deck of the Thousand Sunny, the talking became louder, and you realised that the voices were coming from your crewmates and Kid's crew who were gathered around, deep in conversation.
"Who could have made such a big hole?"
"Maybe there's a wild animal around. Hehehe!"
"Ahhh! I think I have a wild-monster phobia!"
Curious about their discussion, you jumped off the ship and landed close by. Nami, who seemed relieved to see you, looked over at you and gestured you over.
"Apparently someone or something made a hole in Kid's ship, which means that they can't sail for a while," Nami explained, her voice filled with concern.
As you joined the group, you couldn't help but feel a sinking feeling in your gut. The timing of this incident and your blackout seemed too coincidental, making you wonder if there was a connection between the two.
"We're trying to figure out who or what could have done it. Any ideas? You were the second to leave after Kid left."
You looked around but he wasn't there. "Where is Kid?" you asked anxiously, scanning the faces of your crewmates for any sign of him.
"He's still asleep," Nami replied, her brow furrowed with worry. "Killer mentioned that Kid was knocked out cold when he checked on him earlier. So, it couldn't have been him who made the hole in the ship."
So who did you see then? Maybe it was your mind tricking you but then why do you have a mark in your neck?
As you went over to look at the damage, you noticed a familiar scent lingering in the air - the same scent that had filled your nostrils during your blackout.
This realisation made your heart race, as you began to suspect that the person responsible for the hole in Kid's ship was none other than the one who had grabbed you forcefully.
"What's that mark on your neck?" a voice said behind you, causing you to turn around in surprise.
It was Killer, Kid's loyal right-hand man, who had a concerned look on his face as he pointed at the mark.
He was looking at you with a mix of concern and suspicion, as if he already knew the answer to his own question.
"I don't know," you stated, fully facing him, "but it looks like you do." The intensity of the situation heightened as you locked eyes with Killer, realising that he might hold the key to uncovering the truth behind both the hole in the ship and your mysterious mark.
Killer sighed before gesturing over to the bench nearby, indicating that you should sit down and have a serious conversation. It seemed that he was ready to reveal the truth behind the incident and the mark on your neck, finally shedding light on the unsettling events that had taken place.
Reluctantly, you took a seat next to Killer, your heart pounding with anticipation. As he reached out to examine the mark on your neck, you flinched, still wary of his intentions.
"Trust me," Killer said softly, his eyes filled with sincerity. "I had nothing to do with this. But there's something you need to know, something that might explain everything."
The mark on your neck was unlike anything you had ever seen before. It was a metalic, etched into your skin with roughness and harshness. As Killer carefully inspected the mark, you couldn't help but notice his focused expression.
After a few moments, he retrieved a small bottle from his pouch and showing it to you.
"What is it?"
"It's a medicine for when we get hurt by...." Killer paused, dropping a few drops of the medicine into his hands and rubbing them together.
"By what?"
"By Kid," Killer replied, his voice filled with a mixture of sadness and concern. "There is a time every year around now when Kid is not himself. At first, it wasn't bad but now, it's unbearable to even hear his anguishing yells."
"So it was him that was yelling yesterday," you muttered to yourself, finally connecting the dots.
"Why are you telling me this?" you turned to him, your voice filled with curiosity and a hint of suspicion. Killer met your gaze, his eyes filled with determination.
"Because you're the only one who can help us stop him," he said, his voice steady.
"I've heard about your devil fruit," Killer said, his voice hopeful. "You can remove pain away from a person, right? We believe that your ability is the key to stopping Kid and preventing further harm."
You kept quiet, thinking about the weight of the responsibility that had just been placed upon you. It was a daunting task, but deep down, you knew that if there was a chance to stop Kid and protect others from his uncontrollable rage, you had to take it.
"I don't know if it will work," you explained, your voice tinged with uncertainty. "Usually, my ability works to alleviate pain that is inflicted by a person or object. I've never tried to remove pain that is generated by the body itself. But I'm willing to give it a try if it means stopping Kid and protecting others from harm."
Killer nodded, understanding the complexity of the situation. "We understand the risks," he replied, his voice filled with determination. "But we believe in your power and know that you're our best chance to bring an end to Kid's torment."
"Okay, I can try, but there is no guarantee that something will happen," you cautiously agreed. "I'll do my best to use my ability and see if I can alleviate Kid's pain. But we need to be prepared for the possibility that it might not work."
"That's all I ask for," Killer said, gratitude evident in his voice.
As soon as you touched your neck, you felt like nothing was there. It was as if there was nothing there in the first place.
Though before you could compliment the medicine and its effectiveness, a voice caught your attention from far away.
"Jaggy! You're finally awake! Your ship has a hole. Shishishi!" Luffy's voice yelled, interrupting the serious conversation.
"Stupid monkey! You probably broke it!" Kid's voice yelled, frustration evident in his tone.
You quickly stood up and ran over to where the voice came from, eager to see what was happening and hoping that Luffy hadn't caused too much trouble.
As soon as you came into view, Kid caught you immediately and had eye contact. His expression turned from frustration to surprise, and for a moment, you could see a flicker of vulnerability in his eyes.
"Jaggy! Where are you going?"
"Away from here."
You quickly walked closer to them, realising what Kid was trying to do. He was trying to distance himself from the vulnerability he had shown in that moment, pushing you away to protect himself from further emotional exposure.
"Y/N, where did you come from?" Luffy commented.
"I came to talk to Kid," you answered, your voice calm and determined.
Kid halted and turned around to face you, his eyes locked with yours. There was a mixture of surprise and curiosity in his gaze as he carefully studied your expression.
He then walked over and towered over you, his imposing figure casting a shadow. The intensity of his gaze did not waver as he leaned in closer, as if trying to unravel the mystery behind your calm and determined demeanor.
"What do you want to talk about?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of skepticism.
"I know what you're facing. Let me help you," you muttered, your voice filled with empathy and understanding. Kid's skepticism softened slightly, and he took a step back, allowing a brief moment of vulnerability to flicker across his face once again.
His gaze shifted from Killer, who stood in the distance, to you, and then back again. It was clear that Kid was torn between trusting you and protecting himself.
"You can't help me, no one can," Kid muttered in frustration, turning around to walk away from you.
As you watched him walk away, you crossed your arms, a determined look in your eyes.
"I knew he was going to do this," Killer said, now standing beside you, "you don't have to try anymore," he reassured you, his voice filled with concern. But you couldn't give up that easily. You knew that behind Kid's tough exterior, there was someone who needed to be understood and supported.
"But I can't just give up on him," you replied, your voice filled with determination. "He may push me away now, but I believe that deep down, he still needs someone to understand and support him."
Despite his resistance, you knew that you wouldn't give up on him that easily. You were determined to break down the walls he had built around himself and show him that he didn't have to face his struggles alone.
Plus, the quicker you can help him, the quicker his ship will be fixed and the both of your crew can separate and probably never see each other again.
You were doing it solely for the sake of fixing his ship and ensuring the smooth separation of your crew, with no ulterior motives or personal gain involved. . . .

The ship was going to take a while to repair by Franky's calculations so you had a lot of time to study Kid and the pain he was having.
Fortunately Robin was interested in basically anything to do with pain so it was easy enough to find a collection of books about the pain that Kid was feeling.
As you got to know Eustass Kid better through Killer's stories, you learned about his arm and the constant phantom pain he experienced. Despite his tough exterior, you could see the pain in his eyes whenever he clenched his fist or winced in discomfort.
You would spend nights upon nights reading about the phantom pain and how to release the pain but there was nothing like that. The thing you discovered in your research was that phantom pain is a complex phenomenon that is not fully understood, and there is no definitive method to release or eliminate the pain.
One thing you were determined to find out was whether your devil fruit powers could somehow alleviate Kid's phantom pain. You knew that even if there was no specific information on it, you wouldn't give up without trying every possible solution.
Even though Kid had started to avoid you after you confronted him, you were determined to find a way to help him. You believed that your devil fruit powers had the potential to alleviate his phantom pain, and you were willing to try every possible solution, regardless of his avoidance.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
One night, both of the crew members were sitting by the fire after a long day of repairing Kid's ship and you made sure you were sitting beside Kid.
As the night went on, you watched Kid carefully for any signs of pain, hoping for an opportunity to test your theory. You then noticed a slight grimace on his face as he shifted in his seat. It was a subtle but telling indication that the phantom pain was still present.
You could see the pain etched on his face and without thinking, you reached out and gently placed your hand on his amputated arm.
To your surprise, Eustass Kid's tense muscles began to relax and the pain seemed to subside.
So your devil fruit does work on the pain that is generated by the body.
He looked at you with shock in his eyes, unable to believe that the pain he had been carrying for so long had finally eased. Kid's expression softened, and a mix of gratitude and disbelief crossed his face as he whispered, "How... how did you do that?"
"I told you that I could help you," you muttered, letting go of his arm. "Now don't you feel better?"
He nodded, still speechless, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and gratitude.
It was a moment of validation for both of you, confirming that your determination and belief in your devil fruit powers had paid off in helping alleviate Kid's phantom pain.
"Good, now I'll be going to sleep early," you muttered, standing up and walking back to the ship.
Usually when you used your devil fruit on people who are injured, you would only get the smallest headache and that was hardly the case but when you used it on Kid, you felt like all of your energy was drained out of you.
As you made your way back to the ship, you could feel Kid's gaze burning into your back. His eyes followed your figure, filled with a mix of shock and disbelief. It was clear that the impact of your ability to alleviate his phantom pain had left him speechless, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
"What happened?" Killer asked, nudging Kid's arm, breaking the silence that had settled over the two of them.
Kid looked at him, his expression still filled with shock and disbelief, before finally finding his voice. "I don't know," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "But whatever it was, it worked."
"What worked?"
Kid stated, his voice filled with awe, "She stopped my phantom pain, just like she said she would."
"Really! Hehehe, that's great!" Killer replied, "I knew she could do it."
"I want her to be in my crew," Kid muttered to him, his voice filled with a newfound determination.
"What did you say-"
"Hey Luffy! Let Y/N join my crew!" Kid yelled to Luffy, who was sitting at the other side of the table.
The rest of the crew turned their heads in surprise, but Luffy simply grinned and nodded. "Sure, why not? But Y/N has to agree to it first."
"Huh!" the crew members said in unison, their eyes widening in shock and disbelief. They had never expected Kid to make such a sudden request, especially considering how fiercely independent he had always been.
Kid grinned to himself as he drank the alcohol, his mind filled with excitement and anticipation. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
You didn't know why, but you noticed that Kid was staring at you more often, his eyes lingering on you with a mix of curiosity and admiration.
It seemed that your ability to reduce his phantom pain had sparked a newfound interest in you, and he couldn't help but wonder what other hidden talents you possessed.
You didn't pay any mind to it. It was normal to be interested in someone if they helped you get over a pain that affected you.
The feeling would fade eventually and when that happens, the both of you will be separated into your crews and we will be enemies again.
However, despite his initial interest in you, Kid hardly came to you anymore for his phantom pain. It seemed that your ability had truly worked, providing him with the relief he needed.
As a result, the connection between the two of you began to fade, and the reality of being enemies once again became evident.
For some reason, you couldn't help but feel a sense of loneliness as the connection between you and Kid began to fade.
Even though you knew it was inevitable, a part of you had grown accustomed to his presence and the brief moments of camaraderie. As the reality of being enemies once again became evident, you couldn't shake off the feeling of longing for that connection.
So much for doing it solely for the sake of fixing his ship and ensuring the smooth separation of your crew, with no ulterior motives or personal gain involved.
"Ahhh! Y/N! Y/N!" Usopp's voice came to play, waking you from your thoughts as you remembered that you were doing a job before you started to contemplate.
You turn around to see the long-nosed Usopp running towards you, holding his back in pain. It seems like he's injured himself again during the job, and you can't help but sigh, realising that there's always something happening when you're part of this crew.
"What happened, Usopp?" you ask, concerned.
"Luffy hit me with a big plank and now I think I'm going to die," Usopp cried out, rubbing his back.
You sighed again, "You're not going to die Usopp,"
"You're just being dramatic as usual," you said with a smile, as you activated your healing ability and placed your hand on Usopp's back, extracting his pain with a gentle touch.
The familiar warmth flowed through your fingertips, relieving his discomfort and reminding you once again of the unique gift you possessed.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Usopp said gratefully, giving you a hug before running back to where he came from.
As you watched him go, a bittersweet feeling washed over you. While you were glad to have the ability to help your crewmates, it also served as a constant reminder of the inevitable separation of Kid and returning to being enemies.
When you turned around to walk away, your eyes were met with red/orange ones in the shadows of the trees, which belonged to Kid. The intensity of his gaze sent a shiver down your spine, making it clear that the connection between the two of you was far from faded, and the lines between friend and foe were blurred once again.
"Kid, is something the matter?"
"N-no, there's nothing," he answered, his voice barely above a whisper, as he turned around to walk away.
But the lingering tension in the air and the unspoken words between you both made it clear that there was definitely something bothering him.
You ran over to him and stood in front, blocking his way, as another sigh escaped your lips.
You could feel the tension in the air as Kid's face turned red. It was clear that something was bothering him, but he seemed hesitant to share it with you.
You stood in front of him, blocking his way, and asked again, "Kid, is something wrong? You can tell me."
"It hurts again," Kid muttered, gesturing to his amputated arm. His face was twisted in pain and his body contorted as if he was suffering greatly.
You smiled warmly before placing your hand gently on his arm, feeling the tension in his muscles. With a firm grip, you slowly began to massage the area, applying just the right amount of pressure to extract the pain and ease his discomfort.
As you worked your magic, you could feel his muscles relaxing and his breathing becoming more steady. Finally, after a few minutes, you removed your hand and looked up at him with a reassuring smile, knowing that you had helped alleviate his pain.
Kid, slightly gasping for breath, looked down at you and managed to utter a sincere "Thank you".
You graciously responded, "You're welcome. You know you can always ask me to do that for you, I am at your service."
Kid, feeling embarrassed, averted his gaze and turned away. As he did so, he lifted his hand to scratch the back of his head, perhaps hoping to distract himself from the awkward situation.
"I wanted to apologise," he started, his tone contrite and apologetic. He looked directly into your eyes, hoping to convey the sincerity of his words.
His heart felt heavy with regret as he continued to speak, "I remember that I held you wrongly and caused a mark to be on your neck."
"Ah, that thing is what you are referring to!" you exclaimed, your mind drawing a blank for a moment before you realised what it was that was being discussed.
"I am truly sorry for my actions and the hurt they caused. Please forgive me."
"It's completely understandable that you reacted the way you did. Given the pain you were experiencing at that time, it's natural to respond in a way that reflects your emotions."
"I'm sorry," he said softly, looking down at his feet.
You expressed doubt with the question, "I'm still alive, aren't I?"
His eyes widened with astonishment as he gazed upward, caught off guard by your words.
"Yeah you are still alive," he replied, his voice slightly hesitant and reserved.
"Good, if not, who would be able to stop you from making another hole on your ship," You joked.
Eustass Kid's flushed and red face perfectly complemented his lipstick as he was overcome with a mix of emotions, causing his blood to rush to his cheeks.
The vibrant hue of his makeup reflected the intensity of his feelings, creating a striking and powerful appearance that captured the attention of everyone around him.
"I made something for you," he muttered, avoiding eye contact.
Curiosity piqued, you gently probed, "What is it?"
Sheepishly, he handed you a small, beautifully crafted necklace. The intricate design and attention to detail spoke volumes about the effort he had put into making it, leaving you touched and speechless.
Taking a closer look at the small, beautifully crafted necklace, you couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. "Kid, it's beautiful," you said breathless at the sight of it.
"You really went all out, didn't you?" you chuckled, teasingly.
Kid's face turned an even deeper shade of red, and he stammered, "I-I wanted to make something special for you...to show you how sorry I am."
"Thank you so much, Kid. This means the world to me."
Kid nodded before walking away nervously, a mixture of relief and anxiety evident in his movements. The weight of his apology and the vulnerability he had shown hung in the air, leaving you with a newfound understanding of his sincerity and the depth of his remorse.
You smiled, touched by Kid's gesture, before delicately tying the necklace around your neck. As the pendant rested against your chest, the cool metal against your skin, you couldn't help but feel a sense of forgiveness.
It's not like being friends with him is against your own rules right?
As you felt your heart pounding in your chest, you couldn't help but wonder if your feelings for Kid went beyond friendship. The intensity of your emotions raised questions about the nature of your relationship and whether it was possible to cross that line without breaking your own rules.
There was no point in even thinking about it. After all, you were just a mere crew member and he was part of The Worst Generation.
The boundaries between friendship and something more were blurry, but you knew that navigating the complexities of a romantic relationship with Kid would be a challenge you weren't sure you were ready to take on.
But deep down, you couldn't shake the feeling that Kid's gesture meant more than just pity. The sincerity in his eyes and the effort he had put into making the necklace hinted at something deeper, something that made you question the boundaries of your relationship.
"This is too much," you muttered to yourself before you walked to where you were supposed to be 20 minutes ago. As you hurriedly made your way to your destination, you couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling within you - gratitude, confusion, and a lingering curiosity about what could lie beyond the boundaries of friendship with Kid. . . .
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Nami laughed teasingly, "I told you that you loved him!"
"Come on, Nami, don't start with that again," you replied, rolling your eyes playfully.
"So it took you three weeks to figure out your feelings," Nami stated as she peeled a tangerine. "That's a slow burn if I've ever seen one."
"Why don't you stop judging and give me advice?" you muttered, stealing a slice of the tangerine and dropping it into your mouth.
"Advice? Gurl, you need to take your butt out there and tell him how you feel," Nami answered, eating the rest of the tangerine.
"Did you not hear a word of what I just said?" you asked, lying back on the chair.
"Yeah, you don't want to disrupt the relationship between the two pirate crews right?" Nami said with a sly grin. "But hey, sometimes you have to take a risk for love. Who knows, maybe you and Kid could be the ultimate power couple of the seas!"
"That's not real advice, Nami," you groaned into your hands, feeling overwhelmed by the situation. "I can't just jeopardise everything for a potential romance. I need to think this through and consider the consequences."
"You think too much," Nami commented, rolling her eyes. "Sometimes, you just have to follow your heart and take a leap of faith. Life's too short to overthink everything."
As you were going to respond, the door opened and revealed Killer, Kid's first mate and closest confidant. The sight of him caught you off guard, and you couldn't help but wonder if he had overheard your conversation with Nami.
"Y/N, can I talk to you for a minute?"
You nodded before saying goodbye to Nami, who had a grin on her face. As you walked towards Killer, you couldn't shake off the feeling that he had indeed heard your conversation. Your heart raced, unsure of what he might say or how he might react.
As you closed the door behind you, you faced Killer and asked, "Is something wrong?" His expression seemed serious, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of unease wash over you.
"During this day every year, I've recorded that Kid's phantom pain increases threefold," Killer said, his voice filled with concern. "I know you care about him, and I wanted to warn you that he might not be in the best state of mind right now."
"I thought you should know, since you're the only one who seems to have a calming effect on him. It's important that you understand the impact you have on him."
You nodded in understanding, grateful that Killer had shared this information with you. As he started to walk away, you couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of responsibility towards Kid and his well-being, knowing that your presence had such a profound effect on him.
"Umm, Killer, can I ask you for a favor?" you said hesitantly, hoping he would agree.
He turned around with a curious look, his gaze fixed on you. "Of course, what do you need?" Killer responded, his tone indicating his willingness to help.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
"I appreciate you providing this room for me", you said, sitting on the new bed.
"It's no problem," Killer said, leaning against the door frame on the other side of the room. "I'm glad I could help. If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to ask."
You nodded, grateful for Killer's support, and he closed the door behind him, leaving you alone to gather your thoughts.
Feeling a mix of emotions, you then laid on the bed, trying to process the weight of Killer's words and the newfound responsibility you held in Kid's life.
The room felt heavy with the realization that your presence could make a difference in someone's well-being, and you couldn't help but wonder how you could best support Kid during his struggle with his phantom pain.
"Umm, Killer, can I ask you for a favor?" you said hesitantly, hoping he would agree.
He turned around with a curious look, his gaze fixed on you. "Of course, what do you need?"
"Since Kid may need my help during the night, can I stay over at his ship for tonight?" you asked, hoping that Killer would understand the urgency of the situation.
Killer's expression softened, and he nodded in agreement. "Absolutely, I think that would be a good idea. Kid will appreciate having you there for support."
Why did you ask him that? Why were you on Kid's ship? This was definitely going to cause some problems for both of the crews if they saw where you were.
"You think too much," Nami commented, rolling her eyes. "Sometimes, you just have to follow your heart and take a leap of faith. Life's too short to overthink everything."
You sighed, remembering Nami's words. Sometimes, you just have to trust your instincts and do what feels right in the moment.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as you lay on the bed, knowing that your proximity to Kid's room could potentially complicate things.
There is only one purpose for your presence here, and that is to help Kid.
Laying down on the bed, you tried to get some sleep, hoping that a good night's rest would help clear your mind and prepare you for the challenges ahead. However, thoughts of the potential complications lingered, making it difficult to find peace in the midst of your newfound responsibility.
You held the necklace that Kid made for you tightly, feeling its familiar weight against your chest. It brought you a sense of comfort and reminded you of the connection you shared with Kid.
As you drifted off to sleep, you hoped that your presence on Kid's ship would ultimately bring more good than harm. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
In the eerie darkness, Kid found himself paralysed with fear as he witnessed Victoria, his beloved, trapped in a nightmarish scenario, fading away before his very eyes.
Her anguished cries echoed in the void, sending shivers down his spine. Despite his desperate attempts to reach out and save her, he was rendered powerless, a mere spectator to her tragic demise.
As the nightmare unfolded, a sinister force seemed to take hold of the dream, twisting and distorting reality.
Suddenly, you appeared in the scene, just as you had that fateful night a week ago, drunk and stumbling. Kid's heart raced as he desperately tried to make sense of your presence in this haunting nightmare, unsure of the role you played in the twisted reality unfolding before him.
Kid's body started to move without his command, running towards Y/N. Panic and confusion filled his mind as he tried to regain control, but his limbs seemed to have a will of their own.
The closer he got to Y/N, the more intense the feeling of dread became, as if his own instincts were warning him to stay away.
In a surge of terror and desperation, Kid's hands clenched around Y/N's neck, his grip tightening as he lifted them off the ground. The place filled with the sound of Y/N's gasps for air, mingled with Kid's anguished cries, as the nightmare took a horrifying turn.
"K-Kid, I can help you," you muttered, gasping for air, desperately trying to convey that you were not the enemy in this twisted nightmare. Your words hung in the tense air, a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, Kid would snap out of it and release his grip on your neck.
Kid also hoped so too, that his body would listen to him and leave you alone.
But of course, since it was a nightmare, Kid's body remained under the control of the sinister force, tightening his grip even further. The glimmer of hope quickly faded as Y/N's vision started to blur, their consciousness slipping away as the nightmare reached its horrifying climax.
Your hand then touched his arm and suddenly Kid felt refreshed, as if a surge of energy had coursed through his veins. The effect of your devil fruit powers seemed to break through the grip of the sinister force, loosening Kid's hold on your neck.
As his senses returned, Kid's eyes widened with horror at what he had almost done, his trembling hands releasing their grip as he fell to his knees, overcome with guilt and relief.
Y/N lay motionless on the ground, gasping for air and clutching your throat, the remnants of Kid's grip still visible on your skin. The weight of guilt and relief washed over Kid, leaving him paralysed with the realisation of what he had almost done.
"Please, not you too," he muttered, his voice filled with a mixture of anguish and desperation, as he stared at your motionless body on the ground. . . .
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Kid woke up in a jolt, sweating profusely. He looked around, relieved to find himself in his own bed, safe and sound.
It took a moment for him to realise that it was all just a nightmare, but the guilt and fear still lingered in his mind.
As the night went on, Eustass Kid's arm continued to bother him. Kid lay awake in the darkness of his quarters aboard the Kid Pirates ship.
The memory of losing his arm in a fierce battle replayed in his mind, causing him to grimace in pain as he felt the phantom ache that still haunted him. The room was suffocatingly silent, except for the occasional creaks and groans of the ship as it managed against the dark waters.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his missing arm, causing Kid to sit upright with a gasp. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he clenched his teeth, trying to push away the pain that felt all too real.
He longed for a distraction, something to take his mind off the agony that had consumed him.
Just then, a soft knock sounded at his door, followed by the creak of the hinges as it opened slowly. Kid's first instinct was to lash out, but he stopped himself when he saw who stood before him - you, your concerned gaze locked on his troubled face.
"I... I heard you groaning in pain. Is everything alright?" you asked, your voice filled with genuine worry.
Kid's initial reaction was to brush you off, to insist that he was fine, that you should leave him be or even question how you were on his ship. But as he saw the genuine concern in your eyes, he hesitated.
For a brief moment, he let his guard down, allowing the vulnerability that he usually kept hidden to surface.
"My arm... it still hurts sometimes but it's worse now. The pain never really goes away at this time," Kid murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Do... you want me to help you?"
At first, Eustass Kid was taken aback by your offer even though you've been helping him for weeks now.
"Yes... please," Kid replied, his voice filled with a mix of gratitude and vulnerability.
You could see the hesitation in his eyes, but you also saw the genuine need for companionship. Without a second thought, you agreed to stay.
It's not like anything would happen right?
As you adjusted to the darkness, you realised that Kid was shirtless, revealing the scars that covered his muscular chest and arms. The sight took you by surprise, but you quickly averted your gaze, focusing instead on the pain that was etched across his face.
You slowly walked up to him, his eyes never leaving you. His eyes held a mixture of pain, longing, and vulnerability, as if they were windows to a soul that had experienced more than its fair share of hardships.
In that moment, you could see the depth of his emotions, the weight he carried on his shoulders, and a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, you could provide him with the solace he desperately needed.
You sat down on the edge of his bed, reaching over to his amputated hand when he grabbed you with his other hand. His grip was surprisingly gentle, as if he was afraid of breaking you.
"Kid?" you questioned, your voice filled with concern as you met his gaze. "Are you okay? You can talk to me, you know."
Despite the fact that he was generally regarded as an independent person, he could not deny that he had a strong desire for someone to stay with him tonight.
He wanted you. He needed you.
"Stay the night with me. Please..." he finally spoke, his voice laced with vulnerability.
Your eyes widened at his statement, surprised by the depth of his vulnerability and the sincerity in his plea. The weight of his words hung in the air, and you found yourself unable to resist his request.
"I'll stay," you said, your voice gentle and reassuring. "What do you want me to do?"
Kid's reply was a soft whisper, barely audible in the darkness. "Just... stay with me," he pleaded, his voice filled with a mix of longing and vulnerability.
Gently, he pulled you closer by your hand, his touch both tender and desperate, closing the physical distance between you.
The warmth of his touch and the vulnerability in his eyes made it clear that all he needed in that moment was your presence.
Placing your hand close to Kid's head, you felt the softness of Kid's hair against your fingertips, which made your heart skip a beat.
As Kid's hands wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer, a wave of goosebumps cascaded over your body, electrifying every inch of your skin that his touch grazed. The intensity of the moment heightened, revealing the depth of his longing and the raw vulnerability he entrusted to you.
"What do you want?" you repeated, your voice a gentle whisper.
"I want you, even if it's only for tonight," he confessed, his voice filled with a mixture of desire and desperation that sent shivers down your spine.
"What about the others?" you muttered, your mind racing with thoughts of the potential consequences.
"I just want you here with me," Kid replied, his voice filled with a mixture of longing and determination. "I don't care about the others. All I need is you."
"Okay, for tonight," you agreed, your voice filled with understanding.
In that moment, Kid took it as a sign to cup your cheek and lean closer, his lips gently brushing against yours, igniting a fire within both of you.
His lips were soft and warm, molding perfectly against yours as they moved in sync. The gentle pressure and the taste of his kiss sent a rush of heat through your body, making you forget about everything else except the intense connection you shared in that moment.
As the kiss deepened, Kid's tongue gently traced the outline of your lips, seeking permission to explore further. Your heart raced with anticipation as you granted access, allowing the kiss to become even more passionate and intoxicating.
His tongue danced with yours, exploring the depths of your mouth with a hunger that mirrored the intensity of his longing. Every stroke and caress of his tongue sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body, erasing any doubts or hesitations that lingered in your mind. In that moment, all that mattered was the intoxicating taste of him and the electrifying connection you shared.
You reluctantly pulled away from the kiss, your chests rising and falling rapidly as you both tried to catch your breath. The intensity of the moment had left you dizzy, and you needed a moment to collect your thoughts and reassess the situation.
Kid's lipstick was definitely smuggled all over your lips, but you couldn't bring yourself to care. The taste of him lingered on your tongue, a reminder of the passionate connection you had just experienced.
"I like the taste of your lips on mine," he muttered, his voice still filled with longing. The words sent a thrill down your spine, igniting a desire within you that mirrored his own.
"Well, if you like the taste of my lips, maybe you should try them again," you replied with a playful smirk, unable to resist the magnetic pull between the two of you.
"If you're offering, I wouldn't want to deny you another taste," Kid responded with a mischievous grin, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Only if you promise to make it even more unforgettable than the last time," you said, your voice dripping with seduction.
Unable to resist the magnetic pull between the two of you, he captured your lips once again, his kiss even more passionate and intoxicating than before.
As you kissed, Kid's hands gently slid down your back, pulling you closer and causing you to straddle him. As the kiss deepened and his hands explored your body, one of Kid's hands slipped under your shirt, sending shivers of anticipation down your spine.
The touch of his warm skin against yours heightened the intensity of the moment, fuelling the desire that burned between you. . . .
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You woke up to the smells heavily of metal and copper, the remnants of the passionate encounter with Kid still fresh in your mind. As you took in the scent, a mix of desire and satisfaction washed over you.
You opened your eyes to see Kid's peaceful face beside you, his breathing steady and his lips slightly parted. The sight filled you with a sense of contentment and a desire to continue exploring the depths of your connection with him.
The sunlight streaming through the curtains caught your attention, and you realised that it was morning. The soft glow illuminated the room, casting a warm, golden hue over the tangled sheets and the two of you intertwined within them
As you watched Kid sleep, a sense of gratitude washed over you, knowing that this was just the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
"Okay, for tonight," you agreed, your voice filled with understanding.
The things you said last night haven't escaped your memory.
However, deep down, you couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness that this passionate encounter with Kid was only meant to be a single night. The bittersweet feeling lingered as you admired Kid's peaceful face, wishing for more moments like these to come.
You slowly got out of his bed, gently releasing Kid's grip and tiptoeing towards the door.
As you looked back at his sleeping form one last time, you couldn't help but wonder if fate had other plans in store for the two of you, and if this unforgettable night was just the beginning of something more. . . .
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═
Why can't you stop the pain in your heart? As you thought, gripping your shirt, you realised that the pain in your heart cannot be stopped because it is an emotional pain that stems from deep within.
"Stay the night with me. Please..." he finally spoke, his voice laced with vulnerability.
─────────────────────────────────────────
"I'll stay," you said, your voice gentle and reassuring. "What do you want me to do?"
Kid's reply was a soft whisper, barely audible in the darkness. "Just... stay with me," he pleaded, his voice filled with a mix of longing and vulnerability.
─────────────────────────────────────────
The warmth of his touch and the vulnerability in his eyes made it clear that all he needed in that moment was your presence.
Placing your hand close to Kid's head, you felt the softness of Kid's hair against your fingertips, which made your heart skip a beat.
─────────────────────────────────────────
As you ran your fingers over the necklace Kid had made for you, the memories of last night stayed in your mind, reminding you of the deep connection you shared.
You weren't going to deny that you had fallen in love with Kid.
Eustass Kid's vibrant red hair was wild and unkempt, adding to his rugged and unpredictable appearance. The fiery colour of his hair reflected his fiery personality and his willingness to take on any challenge.
He possessed a towering and imposing physique, adorned with a labyrinth of battle scars and metallic implants seamlessly integrated into his arms and shoulders.
You couldn't help but find Kid's rugged appearance and fiery personality incredibly attractive.
"Okay, for tonight," you agreed, your voice filled with understanding.
You remembered the promise you made to him - this was only for one day and at the time, you thought it was enough for you but now you regret it.
You longed for the feeling of his hands on your skin, the way they would trace delicate patterns and send shivers down your spine.
You were torn between your desire for more and your initial agreement to only stay for one night. The memories of his touch haunted you, and you couldn't help but yearn for more than just one night together.
Yet, you knew that breaking your promise would only lead to more complications and heartache.
Suddenly, you heard a knock at the door, interrupting the bittersweet longing in the air.
"Come in," you said, your voice slightly shaky as you tried to compose yourself. As the door opened, you put on a brave face, hoping that no one would see the traces of tears that lingered in your eyes.
The door revealed Nami with a worried look, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of distress. You quickly wiped away the traces of tears and put on a smile, masking the pain that still lingered in your heart.
"Hey, Nami," you greeted, trying to sound cheerful. "What brings you here?"
"Kid just left with his crew, and you were the only one who wasn't there to see him off," Nami explained, her voice tinged with concern. "I wanted to make sure you're okay. Is everything alright?"
"I'm okay," you replied, forcing a smile. "Thanks for checking in, Nami."
She sat on your bed and sighed, her eyes filled with understanding. "I can see that something is bothering you. You don't have to pretend with me, you know," Nami said gently.
"I know," you said, touching the necklace again, "But there was no way anything would happen even if I sent him off."
"So he didn't ask you?"
"Ask me what?" you asked curiously.
"That dinner when you left early, Kid asked Luffy if he could have you join his crew and surprisingly Luffy agreed but if you agreed to it too,"
You were speechless at Nami's words. Kid asked Luffy to join his crew? Why didn't he ask you? Did he think you were going to reject his offer?
Did he not see how much you longed for him? Did he not feel the same connection as you did? The questions swirled in your mind, filling you with a mixture of regret and confusion.
"Why didn't he ask me?" you muttered out loud, the words escaping your lips before you could stop them.
Nami assured you, "You can ask him next time we bump into each other. Maybe he just didn't find the right moment to bring it up. Don't worry, I'm sure there's a reason behind it."
"I guess," you muttered, feeling a wave of disappointment wash over you.
Eustass Kid, does he not realise how smitten you have become with him that he's using you as a toy for his own entertainment without even knowing?

“Ooh, you’re up early. Isn’t that twice in a row now? What’s the occasion?” Admiral Kizaru’s lackadaisical voice drifted in from the open doorway.
Aokiji looked up from his seat at his desk, squinting a little actually. He’d already taken something for his headache, but it hadn’t helped much yet.
“Hina called me.” Aokiji answered honestly. “I’m waiting for her. She had a report she wanted to give me.”
“Uh huh,” Kizaru still sauntered in without specifically being invited. He then came to lean against the corner of Aokiji’s desk. He was carrying a small orange as his breakfast, now peeling it with his fingers. “Hina’s on her way back from Fish-Man island, right?” Kizaru asked as well. “Kind of stormy today for all that.”
Getting in and out of the Marineford gates was definitely trickier in large ocean swells. But Aokiji knew that Smoker’s ship had already made it out this morning. And being that Hina was on a coated ship, coming up from the sea floor instead should have made it easier for her group.
But Kizaru didn’t mind to keep talking when Aokiji hadn’t even answered him yet. “You know, I heard through the grapevine that you were out pretty late yourself last night. My men saw you at that new bar. And then leaving said bar with a certain troublemaking Captain too.”
Aokiji’s eyes were instantly more alert at that, his stare meeting the other admiral’s glance behind Kizaru’s amber tinted glasses.
“Touchy.” Kizaru commented at that look, but not at all intimidated. He’d gotten the peel off his orange now as he kept on. “She’s not your direct subordinate, so you know it’s not against protocol. I just thought it was interesting. Seems like she’s always stirring up something if she doesn’t have Tsuru around to keep her in check. Quite a fuss at Sabaody yesterday too.” He glanced around the office soon after though. “You got a trash can?”
Aokiji sighed, pulling the small one out from under his desk for Kizaru to toss the orange peel into.
“So gossip travels at the speed of light too then does it?” Aokiji asked the other admiral.
“Always has.” Kizaru answered easily, using the tiniest blades of light to then segment that orange with a brief flash within his palm.
Aokiji really didn’t want to talk about this right now. But at the same time, if he didn’t comment at all, he knew how quickly everyone would just make the worst assumptions for you and he both. “Look. I’ll tell you the same as anyone else that asks. She’s my friend. And nothing happened last night. We had drinks as a group, and I made sure she made it back to the barracks without anyone bothering her. I did not go in her room.”
“Such a gentleman.” Kizaru mused, chewing on one of the orange pieces now.
Aokiji shifted back in his chair, knowing it was still pointless to actually let himself be riled. Not by someone like Kizaru at least who just liked to stir things up a little for the sake of alleviating boredom.
“I thought you had training drills to supervise today anyway.” Aokiji rebutted.
Kizaru only made a non committal sound to that.
“You just don’t want to stand out in the rain and mud do you?” Aokiji realized that a bit afterward, leaning his head further back against his chair.
The dull throb of a headache didn’t get any better as distant thunder rumbled through the walls from outside.
But even more distinct than the thunder was the irritated voice that followed from somewhere down the hallway.
“Where the hell is he!? Kizaru, get your ass out here! Drills are at zero seven hundred sharp!”
“Keep your shirt on, Akainu…” The man with the sunglasses and yellow striped suit replied, calm as anything. Though still seeming a little disappointed in how quickly he’d been found out. He didn’t look back however as he now strolled for the door.
“Let me know how it goes with the captain if you would.” Kizaru sounded only just slightly curious still, not always the easiest person to read. In fact, more difficult than most in how little his narrow emotional range ever changed. “Sorry if I don’t believe you yet.” He added. “You’re not half the choirboy you pretend to be these days.”
Aokiji frowned a little at that, but still didn’t feel the comment too untrue as he watched the other admiral leave.
He could hear Akainu berating Kizaru further in the hallway as well after they’d run into one another.
But none of that was his problem right now. He hadn’t liked the sound of Hina’s voice on the phone. And he was further concerned really when she’d said it needed to be an in person conversation.
It was hard to explain. This unease he’d had ever since you and Smoker had gone at it that day in Mariejois. He’d felt guilty almost immediately too, embarrassing you both he knew by having to step in like that.
But someone had to stop it. Hina had been right about all that too. From the very beginning she’d said you and Smoker would never work. Just too stubborn, too similar to ever concede to one another. But Aokiji had still hoped for the best.
He’d wanted to see the two of you be happy. Even if it meant watching something progress that he couldn’t have for himself any longer.
As it was now sitting alone here, tired and waiting for Hina, of course he remembered the mistakes he’d almost made last night. Because it would have been wrong to do anything when you were that vulnerable.
But even with you fully drunk, even knowing that you were still processing through a rough breakup, he’d almost kissed you. And he’d almost walked into your room.
Kizaru was right that he wasn’t as noble in heart as he tried to be in action. Every day was its own struggle of still learning what kind of man he wanted to be in the end.
He was just lucky that he’d had so many good teachers and second chances by this point.
But at this moment, it was Zephyr that had influenced these particular choices the most. And entirely only through tragedy that the instructor never would have wanted to become a lesson for anyone else.
It was something Aokiji could never erase from his mind. He’d been the one with then Admiral Zephyr that day the phone call had come. Zephyr’s only family, his wife and young son had both been killed.
Not accidentally, not by some twisted or horrible turn of fate, but specifically because Zephyr was an admiral.
That was the only connection pirates needed to hunt down an innocent woman and child and attack them personally and brutally when they knew Zephyr was away and couldn’t protect them.
Never in his life had Aokiji seen a man cry like Zephyr did that day. And not just a man, but a father figure to him if he was being honest. To hear someone’s heart and soul ripped from their body that way, it had done something to him too.
He remembered feeling lost, and coming back to his quarters that night. You were there in his bed too. Already asleep for how late it had taken their ship to get in.
He’d sat in a chair and drank while you slept. He’d drank so much and still it hadn’t been enough to dull that feeling.
Because he couldn’t let it be you next.
Everyone knew then that he was gunning for the next admiral position as soon as one might open. And he knew realistically that he was going to get it.
He would be an admiral, and you would be a target. You were too young to put that kind of weight on you. He was sure you’d find someone else and be fine. You didn’t need him to make you happy. He was just lucky enough to have had the short time he did with you.
Lucky enough to be your first.
But it didn’t give him any right to drag you down with him.
With your hard headed pride, you would have refused to accept his reasoning of not wanting you hurt. Because you still thought that you could fight anyone, take on anything. It’d been easier just to say that you were too young for him then and leave it at that only a few weeks later.
And he thought he had made the right choice with time. He’d even been happy the day Smoker came to him talking about this firecracker of a female marine he’d met. One who Smoker had gotten into a passionate argument with which had turned into much more out on a joint mission together.
Aokiji had completely given his blessing then. Because he trusted Smoker, and he knew he’d take care of you. But here, only two years later, it was now just back to the beginning.
You were hurting all over again. Yet there was still more to it that he couldn’t understand. He absolutely trusted his instincts that this went deeper. Just as much as he trusted the dread in his stomach which told him that whatever Hina was coming here to say was going to be fully related to whatever had wrapped itself around you now.
———————————
The thunder rumbled again outside as his back muscles relaxed further beneath the hot water. The shower stream was now as hot as he could stand it as Doflamingo tilted his head back, letting the water run down over his throat as well.
It still felt a bit surreal, to have something he’d wanted for so long this much in his grasp. He wondered if he’d ever really tell you what his thoughts had been even from first sight of you those few years ago.
He’d hinted at it in Mariejois, but he doubted you remembered much of what he’d said then. Probably just the fucking and the fighting had occupied your thoughts there, not that that was wrong.
Trading blows with you versus sliding his cock into you, both those experiences occupied very similar pleasure centers in his own brain to be true. And oh how he’d savored it when you’d finally given him the opportunity.
But to this day, Doflamingo distinctly remembered the first time he’d ever seen you.
In the North Blue, at another of Tsuru’s traps. It was in a dirty little town, like so many of them that he’d moved through back then.
Tsuru herself was occupied at the shore, keeping his current ship pinned in port to block full escape.
But Doflamingo wasn’t on that ship. He’d already decided it was time to sacrifice it. Time for something new.
Moving back through the island, his foot soldiers had run into more of Tsuru’s forces on the other end.
And that’s where you’d been.
Doflamingo had heard the gunfire and stayed above it. In his dark suit at the time, and blond hair more spiked than he wore it now as he’d tried to determine his easiest route through.
He hadn’t wanted any of Tsuru’s crew to see him and report back to ruin the ruse. But hiding above to move across the low rooftops had also given him an excellent vantage point.
You weren’t alone by any means, working with a group of marines beating his soldiers back. But you were new, and extremely noticeable as your rope dart had gone around his field captain’s neck and you’d brought that man who was twice your size down to his knees.
Doflamingo had hesitated, hearing the choking sound even from there and the words that followed as an argument broke out below.
“(Y/N), we’re supposed to take them alive!”
“He tried to shoot me in the face!”
“(Y/N)! What did Tsuru say!?”
“…okay, fine!”
And you’d loosened the rope just to promptly be shot at again with a smaller gun that captain had hidden. Of course your stupid friends had nearly gotten you killed with their meddling.
But Doflamingo had already been smirking as he’d realized what had really happened. The bullet may have been a small caliber, but the aim had still been true.
The shot should have sank right between those nice young breasts. But it hadn’t. It had ricocheted even as you grunted from the discomfort of the strike.
Armament haki is what it was to his surprise, even in a little shit like you. He’d also taken the time to notice your bare legs and nice looking thighs too. All visible with that short skirt as your boot had come up next to crack the captain’s jaw in return and send him sprawling back onto the ground. The man fully unconscious then as you’d argued with your crew some more in the aftermath.
Had his cock twitched in his pants for you even then?
It absolutely had, but he’d had to be on his way, escaping the island and all of you soon after. From there on he’d paid more attention of course, keeping an eye out for any glimpse of you anytime Tsuru’s crew was close.
And occasionally he’d have a soldier giving a report about how they’d narrowly escaped your ensnarement. On those days especially, as they recounted your violence and the means you were willing to take just at the edge of what Tsuru would allow, he’d known he wanted to get you alone.
You’d been a little too young then in truth, but you acted enough like a woman by Doflamingo’s standards at least. Taking on his men and thwarting his plans like a full grown marine. He’d wondered often back then if you’d even had a man inside you yet.
It should have been him. It would have been too if Tsuru hadn’t always kept you so close. Even Trebol and Diamante had asked him more than once if he just wanted them to catch you the next time and bring you back to him to get that fixation out of his system.
But he could never agree. The timing just wasn’t right. Rosinante had disappeared with Law not long after and things had just gone to shit for a while as he’d wondered if his plans for Dressrosa would ever come to be.
He’d never forgotten about you, but he’d had to focus on cleaning his own house and that alone. Weeding out the traitor and finding the Op-Op fruit to secure the future.
And then he’d heard about the up and comer Kuzan, the ice logia user. The underworld agreed that that man was going to be a real problem and surely an admiral soon. And it wasn’t that pirates gave a shit about the love lives of marines. But whenever someone got that big, every weakness had to be explored. And so he’d heard about Kuzan’s personal life too.
Oh, he’d been in a terrible mood that day he’d first found out. His officers were absolutely perplexed then until they realized what had happened. You had become a woman truly then, one that belonged only to Kuzan.
But it didn’t last. And he’d become king of Dressrosa anyway. He was busy again, securing that and eventually his warlord position along with it.
And then you were with Smoker. Another logia user that the underworld was keeping an eye on. Doflamingo had wondered if you had a fetish for logia types specifically.
In the brief times he had gotten Crocodile to submit, he knew how interesting logia users could be in bed. Though sandy sheets and the grit it made on his cock likely wasn’t as fun as ice or smoke ghosting between your legs had been for you.
But the past was the past. He thought of you back then the same as he thought of you now while he touched himself. Alone here still in his hot shower as he splayed one hand against the wall.
He had been cleaning off the mess of the night before. But he was done cleaning now as he considered all the versions of you that he’d known just for this long.
That brat in the North Blue who he could have made a woman of.
The too proud marine you were now that he was just starting to bend beneath him.
And the intangible partner that you had the potential to become if he kept shaping you in all the ways that he wanted.
Because he could take even more from you if he chose to. Your freedom, your body, even your life as a marine. You could be so much more than all that.
His hand was moving further back between his legs now. He squeezed his own sack, closing his eyes under the running water.
You could be a queen. You could be on your knees in front of him every day then. So needful for your husband if he only bid it. He could teach you how to hold him like this. Hold him as he’d slide his cock into your willing mouth and ask you to squeeze him while you sucked him off.
He squeezed his sack harder at that idea too, the discomfort only heightening his arousal as his hips began bucking slowly.
You still had no idea what he could really be like as a lover. The two in person times with you this far had still been far too rushed. If he could really get you alone for days at a time, he could show you then.
Slow and steady, working you up to a fever pitch until you’d be begging him for more.
His thigh muscles tightened as he finally let go of his heavy sack to begin stroking his thick shaft again.
What would you want though? Would being offered such things entice you at all? Or would he have to force it all on you?
He wasn’t above that obviously. He already had forced you, and he’d do it again if you insisted on playing with him that way.
He could rape you. He could kidnap you. He could make you his wife, make you his consort. He could force you to bear him offspring. He could make you raise them as demigod princes or princesses.
And when the day finally came to tear it all back down, to rip the other gods from heaven and take their places, you and any children you bore him would serve on your knees as his spared favorites.
That is what he wanted for you.
That was the highest form of affection that the madness of Donquixote blood could offer.
And he was finally able to admit it. Even as his toes were trying to curl in the puddle of the shower that he was still standing in.
He was squeezing his cock, and rubbing it from tip to base as his spine straightened up and he breathed out your name. If he couldn’t have true heaven again yet, cast out to the surface world as those traitors had done to him, he would survive on only these tastes of paradise for now.
He felt it when he buried himself between your thighs. Heaven within hell.
That’s what you were becoming for him. It didn’t have to make sense. It didn’t have to be explained. He felt it and he couldn’t let it go now. Not now, likely not ever.
Doflamingo cursed as he came hard again. It was wasted seed that should have been all for you as he shuddered and it landed thick against the shower wall.
Somewhere outside the skies were thundering again too, but he couldn’t care about distant threats right now. He sat down in the still running shower. The hot water and steam made him feel more overheated than he was as his hand covered his unprotected eyes when he didn’t want to close them under the water any longer.
As he used a string to pull the lever on the opposite wall, the water finally stopped. Leaving him nude and dripping, sitting on the expensive tile as his muscles trembled slightly once more.
He was going to make this work, for him and for you. It had to.
———————————
Aokiji was staring at Hina’s somber expression, the office door closed to all others as she repeated for him.
“Hina doesn’t understand why either. But Hina knows what the boy said.” Her eyes were sharp, but not unempathetic. “(Y/N) didn’t report it.”
Aokiji had his elbows on his desk, hands up with fingers intertwined and his lips resting against them. But his entire body was tense.
“Kuzan…” Hina tried. “You need to give her a chance to explain.”
“No.” His voice was short as he lifted his head again from behind his hands.
Hina watched him carefully still, but also glancing down to the small rings of ice now forming where his elbows met the desk.
“Then what are you going to do?” She asked next.
“I’m going to find out from the source.” He had stood now, those tell tale puffs of water vapor also leaving his mouth with the words. The temperature in the room had shifted.
“This stays between us, Hina, until I know more. Understood?” The cold of his voice more than matched the room now.
But Hina wasn’t afraid as she nodded. “She’s our friend. Hina wants to know the truth too.” Though as she watched Aokiji gather his coat and umbrella she looked a little more concerned. “Be careful please. It’s rough out there.”
“Sabaody isn’t far. And big waves freeze the same as small ones.” Was all he replied, walking right back out of the office door.
——————————
The heavy rain was now fully pelting the windows. Doflamingo had gotten dressed and had brunch some time ago, now reading through pending contracts in his makeshift office here at the beach house.
He’d planned to leave back out for Dressrosa this morning. But he was in no hurry. There was no reason to risk damaging a good ship in this weather. He and the limited crew he’d brought could either leave tonight or tomorrow morning when the seas had calmed.
So he was only trying to catch up on all the work he’d had with him as always. He had no phone meetings scheduled for the next few hours at least. So besides the blowing storm, it was still quiet enough that he actually had some music playing as he analyzed the documents.
It was just instrumental music. Symphonies recorded generations ago now spinning on a record nearby. The relaxing sound helping him concentrate on the profits he was double checking in his calculations.
He’d found a percentage he didn’t like and was just marking it out to make an amendment when a different snail rang.
It was a short distance one, just for paging him within the house. As of course what he called a simple house was actually a seaside mansion of several floors.
He was a little annoyed regardless, but clicked the connection open. “What is it?” He asked, still staring down at his numbers through the red glasses he’d already put back on.
“Master Doflamingo, sir.” Some random male staff member he didn’t even remember the name of sounded heavily flustered. The warlord didn’t stay at this house often enough to have bothered to learn all the workers.
But he tried not to lose his patience, still waiting for whatever the message was. He didn’t like to be put into a bad mood when doing paperwork, it made room for mistakes.
“Sir,” The staff member did continue just as nervously. “You have an unscheduled appointment here to see you.”
And again Doflamingo tried not to snap back. The nature of the word appointment meant scheduled. It was an oxymoron to say it the way they just had. “Who?” He just asked instead. Was Disco dumb enough to come crying here again? Or maybe some idiot rookie pirate who thought just throwing themselves at him could earn them a place on his crew?
“It’s marine Admiral Aokiji, sir.”
The ink pen in Doflamingo’s hand broke before he’d realized he’d even squeezed it harder. Black ink now flowing all over his hand and the paperwork beneath it.
His heart was pounding and his haki followed suit with the adrenaline spike. His mind had to catch up as he felt his lips stretch into that nervous smile he couldn’t always control.
What had you told the admiral then? Had you betrayed him already after all?
“Sir?” The peon questioned after the long delay in response.
The symphony was still playing in the background as Doflamingo tried to clean the ink from his hand as if wiping away blood. He could only find the antimacassar, that separate overlay of his chair headrest to wipe it on.
“I’m coming.” He managed a reasonable tone regardless as his mind still continued to race.
Aokiji would not come here unless he at least suspected something. But it didn’t mean he knew everything either. And even if he did know more than he should, what could he realistically do about it?
Doflamingo knew that even all he’d done to you this far wasn’t near enough to lose his warlord status. The marines might be aghast on principle, but it was the World Government who really made the rules. And they wouldn’t give two shits if a random marine got herself railed by a warlord.
Maybe her skirt shouldn’t have been so short? Maybe she wanted it and only changed her tune because she didn’t want to be demoted? That’s exactly how those old shits thought. Hell, that was probably how most of the marine brass thought.
If Aokiji did actually care about you, it’d only be your own career that he’d be detonating if he revealed it all. Because why wouldn’t a pirate and even a king fuck a feisty little thing like you if given half the chance?
People would expect it from Doflamingo. But not from a self righteous marine. Double standards were fun that way.
His heart rate had slowed already again as he went through all of this in his head in just moments. He had wanted Aokiji to know a little bit too. He had to remind himself of that. He was just surprised that the admiral would confront him already. It was only supposed to be doubts about you at this point. Not the full blown realization.
Doflamingo’s hand was now as clean as he could get it for the time being. He slipped back on his feather coat before heading out into the hallway and down the curved staircase.
——————————
Aokiji was standing waiting in the massive foyer, rainwater still dripping from his coat and dirty boots. He’d left a light trail of mud across the pristine marble floor.
And of course Doflamingo was smiling, just like anytime he’d ever seen him as the tall pirate emerged at the top of the stairs. Hands in his pockets, and dramatic pink coat moving with him as he took the staircase down in no real hurry to get there.
“Admiral Aokiji.” The warlord spoke so smoothly, the light of the chandelier above creating the illusion that those red sunglasses were actually glowing.
Like a demon’s eyes, evoking the warlord’s epithet as he continued. “Quite a nasty day to come all the way here for what I’m sure could have just been a phone call. Are we being called to war? Tell me it’s something that exciting for a man like you to come knocking at my door.”
“I’d like a private conversation with you.” Aokiji answered plainly, betraying nothing yet as he did glance around at all the staff still gawking at them from multiple doorways that opened to the foyer.
“Easy enough.” Doflamingo answered, pulling one hand out of his pockets to motion it like shooing away animals. “Out!”
And they did scurry away so fast too. It was pitiful really. Not a backbone left among them. All stolen by the man in front of him no doubt.
Aokiji did allow them all enough time to get away, but he also noticed how much Doflamingo seemed unwilling to come any closer then.
They were facing each other. The pirate still on the stairs, legs actually staggered to have one foot above the other on different steps. As if ready to move quickly if needed. And keeping himself at higher ground.
And Aokiji still near the center of the foyer, forced to look slightly upward to make eye contact with the warlord on the stairs.
“I want to know what happened in Sabaody yesterday.” Aokiji asked. It was not friendly any longer, if it ever had been.
Those glasses were watching him intently, he felt it. “I already gave my statement. Vice Admiral Vergo signed off on it.”
“Vergo wasn’t there until it was already over. He can’t verify what he wasn’t present to see.” Aokiji carefully moved his hands out of his marine coat in test.
And he saw Doflamingo’s calf muscles tense even from this distance. He was ready to jump. The problem was, that even if you knew someone was guilty as sin and giving every sign of being so, that knowledge didn’t help with a pirate of this level.
Because when there was that much sin, Aokiji couldn’t know what thing was really being reacted to. There was no doubt in his mind, standing here in this literal mansion, that every single painting, statue, and elaborate light fixture was dripping with the blood money it’d been paid for with.
“Let’s try it this way,” Aokiji shifted strategies then. He did not mind being fully blunt when needed. His patience was wearing thin. “Captain (Y/N) was attacked. I know her skill level. Of anyone confirmed there at the auction house yesterday, you’re the only one strong enough to have done it. So why wasn’t that in your report, Doflamingo?”
The smile didn’t change, but the tension in it did. The warlord’s jaw tightened as he raised his other hand from his pocket with equal care to what Aokiji had. “This isn’t private enough yet. One moment.”
And suddenly the sound of slamming doors echoed throughout the foyer. Not simultaneously, just in random succession throughout the large room as Aokiji did catch the brief glint of strings moving through the chandelier’s light.
“Even mice like to eavesdrop at times.” Doflamingo commented once every door out of this room was now sealed.
It was also meant to remind Aokiji that he was easily still within the warlord’s attack range to be sure. But the admiral never moved.
“What did you do to her?” Aokiji asked again then instead, no longer skirting anything.
Last night the merboy had warmed up to Hina enough to ask about you. He’d been so worried that the ‘bad man’ would come for you again. Hina had sworn to Aokiji that she offered no leading questions to the boy after that, but only let him speak of his own experience to work through it.
The boy had likened it to what he already could understand from life on the seafloor. He said Doflamingo had come at you from above, a predator in every sense of the word. He’d used his claws on your neck and his jaws on your face.
His jaws over your own mouth to be specific.
Hina said there was no question to her that the boy understood what he’d seen. And that he’d also heard your bloodcurdling scream even through the closed door after Doflamingo had taken you into the office to fight further.
You weren’t someone who truly screamed. Aokiji had seen you take horrible injuries in the name of protecting your fellow marines. And never had he heard a sound like what the boy described to Hina come from you.
And so he waited now, that question hanging in the air as Doflamingo stood above him on those stairs.
“It sounds like you’ve been talking to eavesdropping mice yourself,” The warlord breathed, his tone colder as well now. Both of his hands had remained out in the open from his pockets.
“Everyone’s voice is as loud as anyone else’s to me. The source doesn’t matter.” And Aokiji was absolutely watching those hands. He realized one of Doflamingo’s palms was stained with black as well.
“How…human. Everyone equal, is that how it goes?” Doflamingo questioned. His chest was rising and falling a little faster now from beneath his open shirt.
He’d no doubt seen that thinnest layer of frost forming from beneath Aokiji’s boots and beginning to spread up from the admiral’s wrists as well.
But Doflamingo’s tongue was also a weapon as strong as any string. Any marine who’d been around him at all knew this.
So Aokiji wasn’t entirely surprised when that deeper dig finally came. The warlord was daring the admiral to make the first move. Wanting to be able to claim self defense if it came down to it no doubt.
“Were the voices in Ohara just as loud too then, Kuzan?” It was almost a hiss. ‘Come at me if you can’ it said.
A snake cornered in its own den. That’s all Aokiji saw now. Those flat fangs bared in the widest smile.
The fangs that he truly believed had bitten you.
“My crimes are my own.” Aokiji spoke, that resulting twist in his chest would have goaded him only a few years ago. But he was smarter now. “I’m here to talk about yours.”
It was almost a barking laugh so suddenly from the other at that. As if Doflamingo truly couldn’t control it as his hands trembled in what seemed to be frustration. He couldn’t just fight his way out of this if Aokiji wouldn’t attack him first.
“You think I’d really hurt her, Kuzan!?” The warlord’s laugh kept on, echoing through the foyer. “Tsuru raised her. And Tsuru is family to me. Don’t you understand!?”
A look of disgust moved across Aokiji’s face at the nonsensical admission. “I’d say you’re crazy, but we both know that would be the understatement of the century. Tsuru wants you in jail. Nothing more. Don’t insult the Vice Admiral in front of me with whatever sick connection you’ve made up in your own mind.”
“No. You’re the one trying to insert yourself where you don’t belong! Ask Tsuru-san if you’re so sure. Ask her what I wanted when I was ten! What I asked her to do before she left me to my fate anyway!”
It was ridiculous bullshit. But maybe this is what he got for trying to reason with a lunatic. “It doesn’t matter. (Y/N) is the only reason I’m here. Stay away from her. Whatever you got away with before is not going to happen again.”
The pirate didn’t admit it, but he didn’t deny it either. “And what will you do, Kuzan? Kill me? On what grounds? How would the World Government take that? A marine admiral conspiring against a king of a government nation?” Doflamingo’s voice was still getting angrier. The blood vessel on his head showing. “And for what motivation? You didn’t want her regardless. You already had your chance!”
Yet as soon as the resulting ice sheet shot out across the floor to those words, Doflamingo was already in the air.
But they both knew the warning shot for what it was. No strings emerged even as the warlord now perched on the banister, the ice having swallowed the stair steps he’d been on mere heartbeats before.
“You destroy everything you touch.” Aokiji glowered. Breath coming out in visible puffs once more. “I have no doubt that Dressrosa is doomed too. It doesn’t matter how or when. That country was dead the day it put its faith in a man like you.”
Doflamingo sneered. “You still don’t understand. You can’t because of what you are. You’re a mouse too, Kuzan. Even as a strong one, you can’t escape the limits you were born into. But I’m more than a marine. More than an admiral even. And I can give more because of it. If you’re so worried about protecting your fellow mice, then let me do the guarding. Stay out of my way.”
It had to be true then. It was just too much for Doflamingo to say if it wasn’t.
But the warlord had such trouble shutting his mouth once he’d already started. “And it’s not your choice anyway. It’s hers.” He added with an additional bit of venom. That was the closest he would come to actually confessing.
And somehow only then did Aokiji feel the full weight settle onto his shoulders. But he wouldn’t accept that there was or even could be consent right now. Looking at the exaggerated silhouette that was Doflamingo, still perched with his teeth bared on the banister, it didn’t seem that a wild animal like that would ever do anything but take what it wanted by force.
“I won’t have this conversation with you twice. I only came here to say what I needed to say. Hurt her again and I don’t care if you really were from heaven itself. You’ll have to deal with me.”
And something in that amused Doflamingo even in his clear remaining anger. “You have no idea, mouse. So scurry home. Call me again when you have a real job for me.”
Aokiji moved his hand in one sharp motion at that, making Doflamingo jump back again just as instantly. This time to hover between the floor and ceiling on his strings.
But the admiral only put up an ice wall between them, sectioning the foyer off as he turned to walk away at last. The warlord couldn’t sucker punch him with a strike in the back then.
Neither of them said another word either. But Aokiji could still hear the demon’s resulting growl all the way from there. The admiral only paused long enough to collect his umbrella from the entryway, opening it as he disappeared back into the storm outside.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ʚ synopsis ɞ You haven't been able to sleep for a while, and Bepo has the solution to your problem. As you develop a friendship with the polar bear, you fail to notice the jealousy of a certain captain.
Tumblr media
pairings : Bepo & Fem!Reader + Trafalgar D. Water Law x Fem!Reader
words count : 7.6k
content : fluff, angst, spider.
note : The return of classes delayed the publication of this chapter, but here it is at last. I hope you like it! o/ English is not my first language! Important : When I write that a character blushes, floats on a cloud, has hearts in his eyes, I'm writing it so that it reads like in a manga. For me, it doesn't matter what skin color or logic is behind certain reactions, it's clear in my head that it's really cartoonish. However, I understand if some people feel excluded, it's not my goal to limit you.

[start of flashback]
The Straw Hats' adventure in Alabasta can be summed up as a race against time, the need to defy the clock to save a kingdom lost in lies. By offering their help to a princess in need, the crew gained a new member. Unfortunately, out of obligation, she stayed with her people. A noble decision. When you left the land of the dunes, you refused to erase the X on your arm. The memory of the brave fighter refused to leave your mind, you already missed her. "We'll need you in the future, don't forget us!" she told you with a huge smile.
Even though Vivi has stayed behind, her place in the crew will never be taken by anyone else. She is, and always will be, the princess of the Straw Hats.
When Nico Robin invited herself into the crew, under the pretext "you forced me to live, you're going to pay the price", she didn't replace Vivi. There was no need to discuss it; it was like an unwritten agreement. Like Zoro, you didn't approve of your captain's decision, Robin had a reputation that could tarnish the name of anyone associating with her. One by one, the Going Merry pirates fell under her spell for trivial reasons. Money, beauty, humor - none of these things appealed to either the swordswoman or the writer. Both of you looked at the woman with an unfriendly eye.
"Captain, I'd like to have a word with you."
"Shishishi, not right now, Robin does-OUCH! It hurts!"
"Now!"
It wasn't the first time you'd grabbed Luffy by the cheek, but it was definitely the first time you'd felt anger towards him. Away from the ears and stares of the others, you intended to explain your sudden burst of agitation to him:
"Luffy, we can't welcome Nico Robin among us."
"Why not?"
"She was born under a dark star."
"…"
"That means bad luck follows her like a shadow."
"Oh, that's ok!"
"It's… ok!? Luffy, you don't understand! Nico Robin doesn't carry the nickname Devil Child for no reason. Ever since she was born, she's been wreaking havoc wherever she goes. If she stays with us, we risk having the marines on our asses non-stop. Do you know how many crews Nico Robin has ruined simply by being present among them? She travels from ship to ship to get wherever she wants, no one-"
Huh. When you said those words out loud, you immediately realized the obvious parallel. Slowly, you stepped back and placed a hand in front of your mouth, lowering your gaze to the ground. Luffy didn't understand the sudden change in your behavior; he tilted his head and waited for the continuation of your speech. But nothing left your mouth for several seconds.
"Forget what I said." you whispered.
Maybe Luffy forgot, but you didn't. From that point on, you stopped complaining about the arrival of Nico Robin in your group, which didn't please Zoro. "What did she do to change your mind? Did she give you ink and paper? Did she give you a story to write?" You would have liked to answer your crewmate's sarcasm with the truth, but revealing part of your past was out of the question. "Nothing." you replied, without emotion. "Yeah, right." murmured Zoro.
Skypiea had been an out-of-this-world adventure. From beginning to end, you felt like you were living a dream. The intensity of the journey from sea to sky clearly took years off your life, and your anxiety had never been higher. To this day, you refuse to admit that you fainted under the pressure of the wind and the stress, and that Sanji was forced to hold you tightly between his legs to prevent you from falling.
When you arrived on the island, you found it hard to enjoy the clouds like your companions, spending your time writing down everything you saw in your notebook. How could you ever forgive yourself if you dared to forget a single detail of this land? An island in the sky, for God's sake! It wasn't every day you came across such an extraordinary discovery! It was beautiful, really. Until reality caught up with you and sent you off on another crazy adventure. Beating a god, eh?
During the peril, you got closer to Robin. Maybe it was the age, maybe it was the things you had in common, but to your surprise, you felt comfortable with her. So much so that you asked her something that shocked her. "Can you teach me to read poneglyphs?" Robin had met many people who wanted to take advantage of her knowledge and ability to read the mysterious steles, but no one had asked her to learn to read them.
"Those who are able to read the poneglyphs are in grave danger. As you know, the government wants to keep a part of history a secret. If you wish to obtain this knowledge, you must accept becoming not only a target for the government, but also for rich and powerful people.”
"Hm… I understand and accept the consequences that come with this knowledge. The government could send their best agent, an army, gods, whatever, they'll never succeed in locking me up in a cell. Luffy will never let them touch me."
At the time, you hadn't been able to decipher Robin's smile or the sadness in her eyes. A few days later, your words were echoing in your head over and over again. It's stupid, but you trusted her. And even more stupidly, you could easily have guessed what would happen next. You were the first to tell Luffy that Robin was going to betray you. And that's what happened. But she'd made a mistake. Didn't she understand what you told her at Skypiea? Luffy doesn't let ANYONE touch his crew.
If you thought the desert and the sky were adrenaline-pumping adventures, they didn't compare to the archaeologist's rescue. Chaotic was the right word to describe Enies Lobby. Even during your time in the marines, you'd never been confronted with such high levels of danger. The more time passed, the more unexpected obstacles were placed in your path, and the less you saw a way out. Entering a government domain to save a single soul who had chosen to abandon you? From your point of view, you would have described the situation as a suicidal mission. And unfortunately, you know a thing or two about suicide missions.
You put your heart and soul into saving Robin. Never thinking for a second that you'd survive.
Which is why you're still in shock to be back at Water 7 without a major injury. Enies Lobby is behind you. Facing a CP9 agent wasn't on your list of things to complete before you die, but now that box is checked. This journey has made Robin realize that she's not alone in this world, and that she can't escape in silence. No matter what she decides to do, Luffy will bring her back to the Going Merry. That goes for Usopp, too. And… you.
Like the others, you raised a glass to victory and spent the night celebrating. Your smile never left your face, but behind that cheerful mask lay a great sadness.
[end of flashback]
The Thousand Sunny's dining room is bursting with good energy. To welcome the second crew, Franky adjusted the table to accommodate all those who wish to take part in the meal. The quieter ones opt for the aquarium or the outside tables. Some prefer to enjoy their food away from the greedy captain who, without hesitation, steals from the others' plates and makes horrible noises with his mouth. You too had a hard time putting up with the young man's tendencies, but after hundreds of lunches at his side, you've gotten used to it.
With a kick, Luffy opens the door and announces his presence by shouting to his cook that his hunger is about to crush him. Oh, what a lovely smell, you think. You recognize the aroma of your favorite breakfast ingredients. If your stomach wasn't rumbling before, well, it is now. You notice that the usual places at the table are in disorder, with the exception of the captain.
"I've reserved a seat for you! You're going to sit next to me!" He seems so proud of his decision, you don't have the courage to ruin his good deed by telling him that reserving a seat was unnecessary and far too kind. You could have joined the others under the sun, but you suspect that your young captain wouldn't accept this alternative, so you follow him to the end of the table and sit down on the chair intended for you.
"TORAO!! BEAR!!! HERE!!!" shouts Luffy suddenly, waving his arm in the air, as if he wasn't visible to the duo at the door.
You greet them discreetly with a simple wave of your hand - there's no need to damage anyone's ear. Law sits down opposite to you, and Bepo in front of Ikkaku. The polar bear scratches his cheek and lets out a long yawn. If Luffy hadn't woken you up, you're sure you'd still be glued to Bepo, deep in slumber. You want to express your gratitude to the duo, but alas, Sanji arrives like a tornado and places a plate of food, a bowl of fruit and a large glass of orange juice in front of you.
"For madame, her favorite breakfast with fruit cut in the shape of a heart to express my admiration for her beauty, intelligence and entire person. Your presence on this boat brightens my days, calms my nights and gives me the strength to pursue my dream. I'd be willing to find water in a desert for you, I'd be willing to pick up the moon-"
You hug Sanji for a split second. "Thank you, Sanji." you say with tenderness and sincerity. After the night before, you know that your crewmate is trying to show his support by offering you your favorite dish and complimenting you. Although you've heard him repeat his words to other women, you know he's not lying.
The focus of the audience was already on the cook, who was declaring his love, a less surprising sight, but the intensity of his words seemed a little more pushed and thoughtful. The hug ended his tirade, but only increased his fire. He took several steps back and succumbed to a heavy nosebleed. You are convinced you've shut down his brain when he tries to speak, but his words make no sense. He floats back behind the counter like he's on a cloud.
You start eating your breakfast in silence, listening to other people's conversations and thinking about what you're going to do later. You wonder if Bepo is free, if he'd like to swim together again or explore the jungle. You can't resist the urge to wander through the wilderness, feeling like you're in an adventure book, just like the famous fictional archaeologist.
At one point, your attention is drawn to Usopp, who is telling a totally true and very believable story. Out of the corner of your eye, you see a hand sliding across your plate.
"Luffy!" You quickly grab his filthy little claws to keep it from contaminating the fruit. "Don't touch what's mine, just ask me if you want anything."
You hear him growl, but he asks if he can have some of your fruit, which you happily accept. Sanji has given you too big a serving. You lean over to place the fruit on your captain's plate, and he too leans over to smell your hair. Luffy loves your shampoo and has told you on several occasions that he'd like to eat it if it weren't bad for his body.
"You don't smell like usual, you smell weird."
"Hey, don't criticize (y/n)-chan! Her smell is delightful!" replies Sanji, frustrated and ready to defend you to the death.
"It's not an insult, it's true! She smells like… like…" Luffy scratches his head and thinks. He digs deep into his brain, until he comes up with an answer. "She smells like Torao!"
At this statement, a number of people start laughing, and you yourself give a short giggle. You've slept in his bed, so it's not surprising that your hair adopts his scent, but you didn't think it was obvious. It's amazing how your captain can notice the little details. Ikkaku is the second person to lean over and sniff your hair.
"Oh yes, that's right! She smells like cheap cologne and trust issues."
"I do not." Law hadn't intended to intervene, but after that low blow, he owed it to himself to respond and protect his image.
"Sure you don't, big boy." replies the young woman with a smirk, proud to have made her captain react.
"So shitty cook," begins Zoro, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. "Does that mean you find the smell of Law delightful?"
War was declared between the swordsman and the cook. This first attack gave both crews a good laugh and even brought a smile to Law's face. The mood of the morning promises a day full of joy and teasing. What's more, Nami says the sun should be out all day and the wind gentle. Good news indeed!
You continue to devour your meal, avoiding Luffy's attempts to steal it. You don't notice Nami nodding to Chopper and Luffy. Your captain suddenly begins to annoy Law. The little reindeer clears his throat. "(Y/n)!" You turn to him with a smile, inviting him to continue his speech. "There's a medicinal plant I'd like to add to my stock, and I'm confident there's some in the forest! But I can't go, I've got to clean the infirmary and air out the space. Would you like to go and get some for me, please?"
"Oh, why not! I didn't have any plans today. But wouldn't you rather go together after you've finished cleaning up?"
"Er…" Chopper looks at you with a far too wide smile and round eyes. A bead of sweat slides down his forehead. "I-I…"
"It’s going to take all day!" urges Nami with a suspicious enthusiasm.
"Y-yes! All day! And there's no guarantee the weather will be nice tomorrow!" confirms Chopper with a nervous laugh.
From the way they talk, you can tell they're hiding something. What exactly? You don't know, but you're determined to find out. You just hope it's not a surprise party or a bad joke.
"Right. Bepo, would you like to come along? We could listen to Uta's album!" You sincerely hope the polar bear will agree, you long to spend time with him.
"Bepo can't, I'm going to help him work on his maps." replies Nami.
Bepo looks at you with sad eyes. "Sorry…"
You're happy the two are going to spend some time talking about their passion- ah but, you don't even know if Bepo is passionate about this topic! Not all navigators love their job… Arg! You've got so much to talk about with Bepo, you can't wait to get to know him better! Admitting you're a little jealous of Nami is not pleasant. You lift your spirits with the thought of being able to talk to your new friend at the end of the day and, who knows, maybe sleep in his fluffy arms.
"Robin?"
"Sorry, I'm helping Chopper clean the infirmary."
"Franky?"
"Sorry sis! Usopp and I are working on a suuuper project!"
"Brook?"
"Yohoho! I'm composing on a new song and I won't lie, this forest is giving me the creeps!"
"Ikka?"
"No, I can't. In fact, most of the Heart can't. We have to clean up the control room, two idiots caused a rampage during the night. Believe me, I wish I could go with you."
Pfft, no one can, seriously? You've got four people left on your list. Luffy, a traveling companion who's bursting with energy, but causes trouble every time, so that's a no. Zoro will be lost in less than five minutes. Sanji must stay on the boat to cook, or Luffy will panic. Jinbe…
"Jinbe!"
The fish-man enters the dining room and is startled when you call out to him. You look at him with an excitement he rarely sees in your eyes these days.
"Would you like to come with me to get some medicinal plants?"
You join your hands and beg him with your gaze, it's impossible for him to resist your beauty! You're too busy charming Jinbe, you don't see Shachi, Penguin and Nami silently panicking. Before Jinbe can respond, Penguin stands up and shouts, "JINBE WILL SHOW ME HOW TO SWIM."
Everyone turns to the young man.
"I am?" questions Jinbe with surprise.
"O-of course! You are the best at swimming, after all!" replies Penguin.
You just can't believe it! You know very well that Penguin is one of the Heart's best swimmers, so why are they trying to send you off alone into the forest? It's a bit too dangerous to venture off on your own into an unfamiliar place on an island strangely devoid of inhabitants, this plan doesn't suit you. Unfortunately, you've got nothing better to do. You could lock yourself in the library and try to write, but once again, inspiration isn't there. Well, you have no choice.
You finish your plate in silence, disappointed in your friends.
Tumblr media
After breakfast, you return to the girls' bedroom to choose your clothes for the day. You've got your pajamas in your hands and you're about to drop them into the dirty laundry, but a thought stops you in your tracks. If your hair smelled like Law, then… your shirt should, logically, have the same smell, right? Everyone was laughing this morning. Luffy thought your perfume was unusual, and Ikkaku declared that her captain smells like cheap cologne. You, on the other hand, disagreed.
With trembling hands, you bring the shirt up to your nose and inhale the poison that is Law. Without realizing it, your eyes close. Yes, it's definitely his smell. Masculine, fresh, comforting… You suddenly open your eyes and throw the shirt at the end of your arms as if it had burned you. With a petrified look, you fall back onto your bed and try to control your heavy breathing. Holy shit, what did Sanji put in your food?!
You don't know what possessed you, but it was definitely strange. There's nothing wrong with finding someone's perfume pleasant, but smelling their shirt in the hopes of getting a little hint of it? That's not really normal. It would be humiliating if the doctor knew what you'd done, you can imagine how creeped out he'd be. Shaking your head, you push away the wicked fiend that has taken over your body for a few seconds. You settle back on the bed to make yourself a tad more comfortable, needing to take your mind off things and get ready to venture alone into a forest, yay…
A long sigh leaves your lips. The sun may be shining, but your mind is clouded by loneliness. Two crews and no one available to spend a couple of hours with you. It shouldn't bother you so much, but fuck, you feel as if you've fallen into a black hole and are slowly being forgotten by everyone. Forgotten or ignored. Chopper trusts you to pick a plant, which should reassure you, but it doesn't. Does he really need this herb? Maybe he wanted to get you away from the boat so you'd finally give them some space. Maybe they've all lied and are going to have another beach day without you.
But… Bepo wouldn't lie to you. Would he?
Fuck, you feel sick again. The beating of your heart makes you nauseous. The pain that took over your body yesterday seems to be coming back even stronger. Experiencing a panic attack, this time in broad daylight, would be painful. You don't even know if you'd be able to show your face again after such an unpleasant event. Yeah yeah, tomorrow's a new day, but it's morning, for crying out loud! You don't know what's going on with you, but you're sick of feeling so helpless in the face of your own thoughts.
You leave your bed to finish what you came to do: change your outfit. You choose clothes appropriate for the weather, but also for the woods. It would be awkward to repeat Nami's mistake and get sick from an insect bite. Nevertheless, you opt for a style that will prevent you from overheating in the humidity of the forest and under the sun's harsh rays. You allow yourself a slightly revealing look, knowing that no men will bother you.
When you open the bedroom door to leave, you jump back at the sight of the Heart captain. His fist is raised, as if he's about to knock. Your heart speeds up for a different reason.
"H-hey. Do you need something?" you say as you close the door behind you, awkwardly stepping closer to Law.
"You didn't ask me if I was available to accompany you."
You let out a small "oh" out. The heat rises to your cheeks and you try to find the right words to express yourself. For a moment, you wonder if you have offended your interlocutor. Since Punk Hazard, Law has shown no interest in including himself in the life of the Straw Hat pirates. He remains an outsider, and you respect his choice, but by watching him keep his distance, you've learned to remove him from your options. Inviting him as a courtesy never even crossed your mind.
Besides, as you know, Law doesn't pay you any attention except in moments of extreme danger. Although, that seems to have changed. Yesterday, he put sunscreen on your back, let you sleep in his bed and gave you a hug this morning! Oh boy, the hug. You hadn't thought about that. Oh no. You must be as red as a tomato right now!
You're trying to find logic in Law's change of attitude. Wano has been a stressful time and many have had close calls with death, some have had triggers about their lives and their intent. Perhaps Law is one of those people. That's a far-fetched theory. Another theory would be that Bepo asked Law to be more open to you and stop being a fucking wall without feeling. The polar bear has the power to manipulate his captain with his adorable soft eyes. Then again, it doesn't make sense. It's only been two days since you got close to Bepo, you don't think the navigator would confront his captain for so little.
“Did you wanted-”
"I've already asked Tony-ya for the herb he's looking for, let's go."
He leaves you no choice. Without warning, Law teleports you to the beach and takes the lead. You're so confused by this turn of events, you don't retort, following him closely.
Tumblr media
As you enter the forest, you pass by the campfire where you fell asleep on top of Bepo on the first night of your reunion. You smile as you recall the polar bear's kindness. If it hadn't been for him, you probably wouldn't have been able to leave the ship. Then you think about what Zoro told you. Luffy put an end to the party in order to let you rest in peace. You've also discovered that Franky was the one who covered you with a blanket. You don't understand why you panicked earlier. Your crew obviously likes you.
The jungle is dense. You and Law soon discover that there is no clear path and that you have to move around like explorers. You need to pay attention to where you're walking to avoid holes and potentially dangerous animals. The further you advance, the more you become overwhelmed by the sounds of the environment. It's enough to make anyone paranoid. You keep glancing behind you, convinced that a snake is about to slither onto your shoulders. Law appears indifferent to his surroundings, so you try to maintain a calm attitude and stay close to him.
Unsurprisingly, Law isn't much of a talker, so you're the first to break the ice.
"Hey, what are we looking for, anyway?" you ask after realizing that you don't even know what to look for. After all, Law didn't give you a chance to visit Chopper before leaving.
"Piper aduncum, or better known as matico. The plant smells like pepper." he replies, sounding as monotonous as ever.
"Okay, what does it look like?" It's nice to know the name, but it's not going to help you be useful while searching.
"A green leaf with no particular features."
"Great, it's a good thing I totally saw a picture of this pip.. pipre.."
"Piper aduncum." he corrects you, without even bothering to turn towards you to speak.
"Yeah, that." you mutter, holding onto the straps of your backpack with some strength.
His lack of interest, or so you think from his nonchalant attitude, gets on your nerves a bit. The guy may be a real hottie and an eye candy, but that doesn't excuse his eccentric, dominant side. And not dominant in a sexy way, more in a know-it-all, “well, actually-” way. And the worst part is, he usually knows everything! Law is incredibly smart, he's a goddamn doctor. Sometimes you'd like to possess the breadth of his knowledge and be able to shut the mouth of those who think themselves superior, sometimes you'd just like to get down on your knees in front of him and show your admiration for his brain.
It's strange because you know very well that Robin is the smartest person in the world, yet you don't want to kneel before her and worship her rich knowledge. That would be ridiculous and almost humiliating.
Law slows his pace and turns to face you, looking a little embarrassed. "I teleported us without realizing there was a possibility you didn't know what the matico looked like. Talking to you before leaving would have been preferable."
The frustration you'd experienced a few minutes earlier disappears as soon as Law explains his reasoning. Plus, he's stopped walking like a giant and taken the time to look at you. Now you feel a little bad about overreacting and criticizing him in your head.
"Don't worry." you reply. You would have liked to follow up with "I'm not mad." but that would have been a lie.
From then on, Law ceases to lead the way and stays by your side, adapting to your pace. You don't know whether this is his attempt to apologize or simply to keep an eye on you. Either way, he has a motive. You've noticed the Heart captain has a tendency to over-analyze, and there's a reason behind everything he does. It's something you respect about him, even though it seems mentally exhausting.
Clouds slowly hide the sun.
Maybe you should turn around and go back to the Thousand Sunny. Without a clear image of the plant in your head, it's impossible for you to help find it. You're like a little dog who follows Law without question. You don't mind spending time with him, it's a rare thing, but you suspect he's not there for the fun of it.
You should tell him what you're thinking, but something catches your attention. Finally, a smile appears on your face.
"Wait!" you shout.
Law stops walking and is surprised to see you skillfully climbing a tree. It shouldn't be surprising, but you've found a mango tree! Your new mission is to fill your bag with fruit and take it back to Sanji. "The cook is going to be happy." you murmur, giggling to yourself. High up, you don't see Law's little smile. He's admiring you and making sure you don't fall.
On the way back down, you hear Law say, "You know I could have picked them in seconds."
"That would take all the fun out of climbing a tree and picking them yourself, Torao!"
"You sound just like your captain." he murmurs, before resuming in a normal tone: "Please don't call me by that ridiculous nickname."
"Do you prefer Traffy?"
"No."
"Okay, Trafalgar."
"It's not even a nickname."
"Oh sorry, I thought you didn't want a nickname, Surgeon of Death."
Law pinches the top of his nose and shows you his back. You hold back a laugh at his reaction, you know you're playing with his patience, but you can't help it. He's so easy to annoy!
Even though you can't see him, Law hides his eyes behind his hat. "Call me by my name." he murmurs.
"Sorry, I didn't hear you, Surgeon of Death. Can you speak up?" When Law doesn't respond, you reach over and pat him on the back. "Hey, I'm teasing you! Come on, let's keep going!"
You grab his hand and start walking. Once again, you notice how warm his skin is, and this shouldn't turn your stomach, but it does. Every time you feel this strange sensation, you prefer to part with it as quickly as possible, no matter how addictive it is. For two reasons, you decide to abandon Law's hand and hold the straps of your backpack. One, your body is already demanding to reconnect and your heart is about to explode. Two, you'd rather be the first to distance yourself before Law does, which will hurt you even more. Why this would hurt you is something you don't want to understand.
Law had no intention of letting go of your hand, but he respects your choice.
The sun is completely hidden by clouds and a chilly wind appears. Nami said it was going to be a beautiful day, which is strange. You're starting to feel a bit cold.
The two of you keep walking in a comfortable silence. The Heart captain stops a few times to examine some plants, but doesn't find the famous matico that Chopper is asking for. Although he says he's sure there's some on the island, you're starting to think that's not the case. A long distance separates you from the ships, and the jungle density is getting progressively worse. The sun disappeared behind the clouds a while ago, but even without the clouds, the trees would hide most of the light with no problem. And you don't know where the wind is coming from, but the weather is weird.
To take your mind off things, you decide to talk.
"Thank you for stepping in yesterday and letting me sleep in your bed." you say, playing awkwardly with your fingers. You don't dare meet Law's eyes for fear he'll see you blush.
"It's nothing." he replies. His neutrality shouldn't surprise you, and yet.
"No, it's not nothing. Do you know a captain who would let an enemy sleep in his bed?" you insist.
"You're not an enemy."
Surprised by this statement, you can't help but turn his words against him in a playful tone:
"So, you admit to still being Luffy's ally?"
You stop yourself from laughing when you see Law's eyes widen. You've trapped him and you're going to talk about it with the others later. After Wano, Law kept repeating how the alliance was over and he and Luffy were enemies.
"No, it's not- You… You're Bepo's friend."
Ah. Bepo's friend. Of course, you should have known better. Maybe your theory earlier wasn't so far-fetched. Damn, why does it hurt so much to hear those words? Suddenly, you don't want to continue the conversation. All the answers you could think of would only aggravate your pain and irritate the captain. You weren't going to answer, but Law throws you a new question:
"Did you sleep well?" he asks. Again, you know Law analyzes everything and doesn't act without reason, even if that includes small talk. You wonder why he keeps talking to you.
"Yeah, I don't know if it's Bepo or your mattress, but I slept like a baby. I really needed it." you reply sincerely. No need to hide the truth, Bepo is the perfect sleeping companion and Law's mattress is so comfortable!
"Good. You can sleep in my room until you feel better." he declares as if it was a totally casual invitation.
"Law, that's too generous! My sleepless nights and nightmares don't concern you, it shouldn't affect your life and especially your night's rest." You hide your face in your hands and let out a low growl, frustrated by your interlocutor's kindness. Doesn't he understand that he's offering you a piece of heaven right now?
Law stops walking and you face him, letting your arms fall to your sides. You watch him with an annoyed pout.
"(Y/n)-ya, I've had insomnia since I was a teenager. I know the sleepless nights haunted by images of the past, by regrets and by mistakes. And when you finally find sleep, you fall into a world of nightmares that seem worse than reality, but when you wake up, you realize your life is a nightmare." declares Law in a dark tone. You notice that he's clutching Kikoku with a strong grip. "If my bed can help you break this vicious circle, I'm more than willing to let you have it."
For a moment, you say nothing. Law's words loop in your head, burned into your memory so you'll never forget them. You bite your lower lip to keep from crying, but the tears find their way to your cheeks.
You've been feeling so odd lately, like everyone is slowly falling away from you and life is morphing into a nightmare. Law has just described exactly what's going on with you. It hurts to know that someone else is going through this, but selfishly, it's a relief to know you're not alone. You know who caused Law's pain. If it were possible, you'd like to strangle Doflamingo and spit in his face, even if it would cost your life.
Seeing you cry breaks Law's heart. It wasn't his intention to provoke this reaction; on the contrary, he thought he was making you happy. Yesterday, when you were in a similar state, Nico-ya took you in her arms and stroked your hair. Should he do the same to calm you down? No, that's a bad idea. He'd love to hug and comfort you, but he can't do that. He's worked very hard to keep his distance from you, even though his efforts threaten to fall apart since yesterday. Damn it, he's an idiot.
He doesn't know exactly why you're crying, but whatever the cause, he needs to do something about it. If Luffy was there to tell him to cuddle you, he'd do it without hesitation. Hell, if you ask him to hold you, he will! And that's what he's hoping for. He looks at you with desperation, waiting for you to say the magic words, but it's obvious you're not paying him any attention.
You cry silently in front of the beautiful man, unable to turn around in fear of losing the strength in your legs and falling to the ground. Your body tilts slightly forward and your head is bowed. You don't dare to look at the doctor. You feel so small and weak. Right now, you really need a hug, someone to reassure you that everything's going to be alright. You feel so bad putting Law, the person who's least adept in this kind of situation, through this. You don't blame him for remaining silent.
Then suddenly, you feel something on your head: Law gave you his hat. You have no idea if he's as attached to his hat as Luffy is to his, but you understand that it's not just any old thing. You accept the gift like a tender embrace. As if you were Law, you cover your eyes with the hat and continue to cry in silence.
After several minutes, your tears stop flowing and you feel a little calmer. You've spent part of the morning feeling lonely and doubting the love of your companions. Strangely enough, Law is the one who makes you feel appreciated.
"Thanks." you whisper, as you wipe your face and sniffle.
"If you want to talk about what happened last-"
"No." you reply abruptly in an authoritative tone, giving him no chance to continue. You regret interrupting him and being so abrupt. "Sorry, it's just…"
"I get it. You don't have to explain."
You thank him, bowing your head. Maybe Law isn't so lost when it comes to communication. You could have blamed him for not trying to talk to you or distract you, but you didn't. By crying openly the way you did, it stopped you from trying to hide your pain and acting like everything was perfect.
On your toes and with Law leaning over, you put the hat back on his head.
"Although, I'm sorry I disturbed your intimate moment with Robin." you say with a smirk.
"What? No, that's not what- I was talking to her about- It was nothing to-" Law drops his mask for a few seconds and panics verbally.
You laugh heartily at his reaction. "Don't panic, I was just teasing. Let's go."
Law sighs discreetly and follows you without saying a word. Even though you're beautiful when you cry, he'd rather hear you laugh.
The force of the wind increases and shakes the trees in an eerie way.
Honestly, you don't know why you're continuing into the jungle with Law as the temperature changes drastically. Everything tells you it's not a good idea to keep going, but you want so badly to bring back what Chopper asked you to. Disappointing the reindeer wouldn't make you feel any better. If you come back empty-handed, you promise to offer him cotton candy as an apology.
You see a tree with pink fruit. As with the other trees, you decide to climb like a real monkey and collect your treasure. The Heart captain doesn't seem surprised by your approach and lets you do it without comment.
Compared to other trees, this one has many more branches and leaves. You're careful not to lose your balance or scratch yourself. With the wind, it's a bit difficult to grab the fruit, but you don't give up.
Huh. This fruit isn't like the others. You stretch out your arm to take the strange fruit, but your worst nightmare settles on your arm and moves upwards at an astonishing speed. Suddenly, your body and brain stop functioning. You let out a piercing scream and wave your arm in all directions to get rid of this horrible eight-legged creature!
Obviously, you fall.
Thanks to his power, Law catches you without difficulty and safely drops you to the ground, but you continue to panic. You hold your left arm as far away from your body as possible, as if it were infected. You jump on Law and cling to his shoulder, digging your nails in.
"GET IT OFF NOW! LAW! PLEASE!"
Among the Straw Hat Pirates, Sanji and you are known for being scared of insects and spiders. You can tolerate the presence of insects, but if they touch you, your soul leaves your body and you go mad. Right now, you consider yourself even more vulnerable than before. For God's sake, you let yourself fall out of a tree without thinking! If Law hadn't been there, you could have broken your neck!
“KILL IT, DO SOMETHING!”
The captain uses his power to remove the spider from your body, which was on your back, but he'll keep this information all the way to his grave.
"It's done."
When you're absolutely sure that the little creature is no longer on you, you catch your breath, but you don't let go of Law. This time, you know perfectly well why your heart is beating so fast - it's that stupid spider's fault. Still, you're surprised to feel your interlocutor's hand gently caressing your back, it's… pleasant. Then, suddenly, he stops.
"You're cold." he says when his fingers touch your icy skin, it's not a question.
You've had goosebumps for a while now, but you weren't going to complain about the cold. You trusted Nami and decided to wear summer clothes, it's your fault. The spider caused a surge of heat during its attack, but it wasn't enough to keep you comfortable. At least Law gives you some warmth. That's why you're disappointed when he ends the hug.
"We're going back to the ships."
You nod and rub your arms to warm up. You're about to turn back, but you notice that Law is taking off his hoodie. No way, he's crazy to be hot at a time like this! Why do men burn like furnaces? You understand why Franky is burning up, he's a robot, but Zoro!? It's almost inhuman.
“Take it.”
Ah. Law's giving you his hoodie.
You weren't expecting this. Normally, you'd decline his offer and prefer to fight the temperature mentally and probably run to the Sunny to warm up, but it's so cold all of a sudden, you can't find the courage to refuse. You take the garment and put it on as quickly as possible. You let out a sigh of satisfaction and thank Law for sacrificing his comfort. You don't know this side of Law at all, it wouldn't bother you if he were always like this. Although, it would take away his charm as a handsome, mysterious, tattooed dark-haired man.
You're glad you spent the day with him; you didn't expect to go through such an emotional journey. However, you feel bad about dragging him through all the twists and turns.
Law activates his power to create a blue sphere, but before teleporting you, he hesitates.
“Everything all right?" he asks, an almost worried look on his face.
You pause for a second, but decide to be honest. You get the feeling that whatever happens in this jungle, stays in this jungle.
"I'm sorry your day is ruined." you say with a sigh.
"Why do you think my day is ruined?" His tone is neutral, but you can hear the surprise in his voice, prompting you to continue without hiding your feelings.
"You're looking for a plant in the forest with me when you could do something else. It's not for nothing that I didn't ask you to come with me, that would have been a bit crazy."
"Why not?" he asks, curious to hear your reasoning.
"Well… you're a captain, you've got more important things to do." you say, avoiding eye contact.
"It means nothing, I'm a captain, I can do what I want."
"Yes, but no.." You pause, relieved to find that Law is giving you time to think about your words. "Walking around a forest for a stupid plant is irrelevant to you. You could have relaxed by talking to Robin, like you did the other night in the aquarium. You accept Luffy as an ally, but it seems you have no real connection with the rest of the crew, except Robin and Chopper." If he hears a tinge of jealousy in your voice, he doesn't mention it. "Otherwise, you could have, I don't know… read a book or carry on, whatever it is you're doing, in your office." You're already regretting your statement and the way you said it. It was clumsy.
"You talk as if you know what's going on in my head." he replies dryly.
"That's not what I meant, not really… Sorry to assume what you imagine, but you're not a very open person. It's very difficult to decipher you." you murmur with a sigh.
There's a long silence. You're convinced that the relationship you've built with Law over the last few hours is falling apart. And it's your fault.
"Instead of assuming and getting ideas, ask me directly." You're having trouble identifying what he's feeling right now.
"Ask what?"
“Everything.”
Huh. You don't know the man well enough to know if this request is normal. And you don't know him well enough to know if he's angry or… bothered? You're really going in blind, it's a dangerous game. "You want me to ask you anything?"
“Yes.”
He is not ready.
"Ever since Punk Hazard, you've been weird with me. What's changed since we last met that you're able to talk to me now? Did I do something to you in the past that made you want to avoid me?"
Law looks at you, but doesn't answer.
"What can I do to maintain this bond? Are you going to start ignoring me again as soon as we leave this place? Because if so, I'd rather have an answer now to prepare myself mentally for this loss."
Well, Law didn't think you'd ask that kind of question at all. He's shocked, but his face doesn't show it. Too bad for him, you're about to deliver the final blow.
“Do you hate me?”
You're stunned by your own words, as if you've just pronounced a forbidden phrase. Bepo has promised you that Law doesn't hate you, but you need to hear it. It's selfish, you know. It was a very bad idea to open that box, you realize.
The tattooed man's silence is strong. You give him time to digest your questions, but something tells you you won't get an answer. Law doesn't move, he doesn't even seem affected by what you've said, even though you know that's not entirely the case. No one can be so closed off.
Then why doesn't he say anything?
You beg him with your eyes. A simple yes or no is enough. But the silence persists.
Drops of water fall from the sky and envelop you in a sudden downpour. Law's hoodie no longer protects you from the cold. You're soaked to the bone.
"Okay." you murmur, sniffling. "Take me back to the Sunny, please."
Without saying a word, Law activates his power and takes you back to the beach.

depression tips™
shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.
moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over.
put on clean, comfortable clothes.
put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.
drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink.
blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.
go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.
cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.

i knew i wasn’t the only one simping over these ✨ H O T T I E S ✨
The Haikyuu Dilfs breeding your poor cunt <3
Uaki Keishin <3
Who knew that some garage sale desk would be so durable. Your entire weight folded atop the surface as your eyes hazily train on the entrance of the store, a desperate attempt to save some decency. “The window isn’t going to help you, Brat.” Keishin mocked, his fingers moving father around your swollen clit, “You were so confident earlier, begging to be filed like a good whore. Not so cocky now, huh?” Your cunt was swallowing every inch of his cock, fucking your hole until you couldn’t even stand without support. The buzzing of the freezers was drowned out by skin slapping and your loud begging. Your orgasm washed over you as Kei pressed his hip flush to yours, filling your pussy to the brim. Settling in your heat until he gt hard again, lighting a cigarette and leaving you in a fucked-out daze.
Shugo Meian<3
Atsumu loved to talk, specifically about how well you would take his cock. It was almost cruel that Shugo let it go on, never telling the blonde about his pretty little wife the setter loved so much. It was no worry, now he knew for sure. Being that he was in the next shower stall as Shugo pounded into your pussy. He never considered himself a possessive guy but watching you cream all over his cock, drooling and wet for his dick, surely enough for Astumu to catch on. “You want this tiny cunt to be stuffed. Huh? So badly you’re drooling over it.” his laugh sent shivers down your spine as your orgasm approached, “‘m gonna stuff you so full you’ll be dripping for days.” You have no idea what has him so riled up or the fact that a teammate is jerking his cock to your moans only inches away from you, but you have no time to think as Shugo finished in your abused hole.
Nicolas Romero<3
The Alder’s ace had never been so mesmerized as he was when he saw you. Smiling or even crying he would never get bored of your face. But his favorite had to be when you go cross-eyed, your mouth forming an ‘o’, as you throw your head back. Only second to that was the view of your glistening pussy lips, stretching around his cock. He couldn’t take his eyes away from how your pussy swallowed his cock, dripping from your last orgasm. “Nic- please! More, please, please!” Hee loved it, the way you begged for more even after hours of him fucking you, “of course, my sweet baby, I’ll stuff your pretty cunt real soo, I promise.”
Hirugumi Fukuro <3
Something about that fucker Shugo Meian set something off in him. He’ll feel better after he fucks the shit out of you, that guy wants to talk about how pretty you were cheering the Alders on, ‘maybe ‘ey’d like a change, the Jackals always need a pretty little thing like that on our side!’ Yeah, you look pretty–like always– but he can’t help but think you8r look so much better I that sundress when you’re 8 months pregnant with his kid, then even when Meian wants to google you he’ll have to remember who you belong too.   It may have been petty, something he tries hard to avoid, but he couldn’t help but send the MSBY captain a little picture of your stuffed cunt, along with an invitation to your future gender reveal.

he is drinking his daily ‘respect women juice’
I NEED A BOYFRIEND LIKE THAT
Bokuto literally does not get why boyfriends get embarrassed about getting period products for their s/o’s.
“It’s what their bodies do, they can’t control it. What’s so gross about it man?”
He has zero problem with going to the store for you.
Mans has your preferred products memorized, you don’t even need to tell him what to get.
