         Things have been tense, ever since Crait, ever since fighting along side Ben on Snoke’s ship. Rey hasn’t slept, she keeps tossing and turning in hopes to lull herself into a few hours but it’s fruitless. Sitting up in her bed, the young jedi moves to walk around the new rebel base. Her feet allow her to wander, moving past Poe’s room, Finn’s room, Leia’s room, all of them until she’s made her way back to her own, yet again. 

         Alone on her desk, she finds the split lightsaber and feels a pain in her head. Body disagrees with her, pleading for sleep while the mind begs for her to stay awake, the two sides always fighting. Delicate fingers pull the desk chair out and Rey finally sits down, elbows hitting the desk and face landing in her hands. A lump is caught in her throat as she does her best not to cry, not to remember the time, only a couple weeks ago when she was on Jakku, living a simpler life. Shittier, but also simpler. 

         Something on her desk moves, she knows it. The soft rattle causes her head to lift as she looks at the split lightsaber once more. Her hands move on her own, despite having never made a lightsaber and not knowing what does what. She begins to tinker away with it, the seconds turn to minutes, the minutes turn to hours and soon enough she’s spent three solid hours working on the old lightsaber. It’s one piece now but not much else has been changed. Fingers glide over the cool metal before they suddenly stop.

         It’s off, just like the first time it happened she’s taken by surprise. He’s here... but he’s not. She doesn’t speak, at least not at first, only looking at him from over her shoulder. There’s a long silence before she shakes her head. “There’s still light in you...” It’s soft and quiet, not wanting to wake the rest of the resistance so early in the morning. “I know it... You can still change...”
