Dawnfoot: Wait not like that! She asked me to sire a litter for her is all! I swear, I don't even like mollies like that, and I definitely don't do romance. Actually, it's pretty common for young warriors to ask someone to sire kits for them, for a number of reasons.

Copperleaf: So... she approached you? You swear you didn't take advantage of her?

Dawnfoot: Yeah. This was all her choice, and I was someone she trusted. I also wasn't her only option, just the one who agreed. And this was before she became a seer, too. She got to stay a warrior for longer.

Copperleaf, relieved: Oh, thank StarClan. For a moment I was afraid you were like him. (Referring to Finchflight mostly)

Dawnfoot: Stars, no! My half-siblings had it a lot worse, but all of us got compared to him, and we were all determined not to be like that. (Referring to Thistleclaw) To the point where my half-sister chose to become a seer like my mother. She loved healing at least.

Blooming Fire Finchflight: Literally just some guy. The Brackenfur or early Thornclaw of pre-Brokenstar ShadowClan. Would probably destroy the spirit of his counterpart if he found out about him. Actually sympathetic

Description: A beautiful pure-white molly with dark sapphire-blue eyes. Her fur is long, silky, and well-groomed. Until [REDACTED], she had a small nick in her left ear. After [REDACTED], both of her ears are torn--practically shredded--and she has heavy scarring on her back and hind legs, which usually make moving painful.

History:

Frostkit and her sister Brindlekit were born to Robinwing and Fuzzypelt--though based on appearances some cats suspected a different sire. Indeed, the sisters would later find out they were sired by a loner, and their father knew and approved because he couldn't have kits himself. Frostkit was very close to her sister and her eventual foster brother Whitekit, and was quick to befriend the other kits in the nursery. She formed a particularly close bond with Swiftbreeze's daughters, Spottedkit and Willowkit. Frostpaw was apprenticed to Bluefur, and while she became a fine hunter and fighter under her mentor, where Frostpaw particularly excelled at was guarding and defending others. With unusually sharp hearing for a blue-eyed white cat, she was always quick to alert others to danger.

When it was discovered Spottedpaw and Willowpaw were both expecting Thistleclaw's kits against their wills, she stood by her friends, even refusing her own warrior ceremony until Willowpaw could earn her name as well. Had she been older, she likely would have guarded Thistleclaw until his execution. Once he was gone, Frostpaw devoted as much time as she could to her friends in the nursery, though it was crowded with three queens and ten kits in there.

Frostfur was named a warrior alongside her sister Brindleface, friend Willowpelt, and Willowpelt's brother Redtail. Soon after, White-eye's kits were apprenticed and she moved out of the nursery. Frostfur doubled down on her support for Spottedpaw and Willowpelt, even moving into the nursery to keep them company and watch over their kits. Spottedpaw's oldest kit, Dawnkit, formed a strong bond with her, even expressing he wanted her to be his mentor. Frostfur couldn't guarantee him that, but she promised she would still be there for him.

Moons passed. Brindleface and Redtail got together and adopted Speckletail's last kit, Sandkit, as their own. Between that and caring for her friends' kits, Frostfur realized she really wanted kits of her own. However, her romantic interests felt limited. Spottedpaw, now Spottedleaf, had no desire for relationships, and Willowpelt was still recovering from her trauma. Whitestorm was more interested in Willowpelt, and Tigerclaw didn't interest her at all. In fact, most cats didn't interest her at all, around her age or not. Then, she became close to Lionheart, after Dawnpaw's original mentor died and she requested to finish mentoring him. Lionheart was mentoring Dawnpaw's sister, Stormpaw, and so they worked together often. He was charming and kind, but firm with apprentices and determined to make them succeed. There was a reason he was close with the newly-named Bluestar, after all.

Lionheart and Frostfur's closeness extended beyond mentoring, as when their apprentices became Dawnfoot and Stormclaw, they still made an effort to spend time together. Frostfur was eventually the one to suggest becoming mates, and to her overwhelming joy, Lionheart said yes. Soon, Frostfur moved into the nursery and had a litter of four kits with him. She loved her kits the moment she laid eyes on them. Cinderkit looked like a darker, non-tabby Brindleface with Frostfur's eyes and Lionheart's fluff. Brackenkit--initially called a molly at birth, but recognized as a tom--looked just like Lionheart, though not as fluffy and more slender like Frostfur, and his kit-blue eyes turned amber rather than green. Brightkit bore striking resemblance to Frostfur, though with ginger patches on her white pelt, and her eyes lighter and a bit green-tinted. Thornkit was the smallest, though he was stocky, with Lionheart's fluffy golden tabby fur and much paler versions of Frostfur's blue eyes. They were perfect.

Alas, life could not stay perfect. Lionheart was killed before their kits left the nursery, and the litter was kidnapped by ShadowClan not long after. Spottedleaf tried to stop them from being taken, but lost her life doing so. Frostfur didn't have time to grieve for her friend, though, as she was worried sick about her kits. She had seen how young the ShadowClan apprentices looked, and feared that would be her kits' fates. Yellowfang had been scented at the scene, and Frostfur could only hope she wasn't involved. It was thanks to the work of Flickerpaw, Greypaw, Ravenpaw, Fireheart, and Honeyflower that Yellowfang's name was cleared and the kits were brought back to ThunderClan safely.

Frostfur thought it might be a little better once her kits were apprenticed: Cinderpaw to Fireheart, Brackenpaw to the recently-named Flickerflower, Brightpaw to Sandstorm, and Thornpaw to Mousefur. Unfortunately, she was wrong. Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw decide to disobey orders and meet Tigerclaw by the Thunderpath in Bluestar's place, as she was sick with greencough. A monster struck Cinderpaw, breaking one of her hind legs. Though Yellowfang and Laceflight believed they could save Cinderpaw, her leg was beyond repair, and she would not be named a warrior with her siblings as a result. Brackenpaw wouldn't stop apologizing, saying he was trying to stop her and call her off the Thunderpath, but it had been too late. Frostfur stayed with both of them, bringing Brightpaw and Thornpaw with them when she could. She was never upset at them for what happened.

Things settled down some after that--yes, Brokenstar and his rogue followers attacked, but they were stopped and Brokentail was blinded and taken prisoner. Cinderpaw was recovering, slowly learning how to hunt and fight again. Fireheart was a good mentor, patient and willing to work out alternatives for Cinderpaw that didn't cause as many issues with her leg. Frostfur was happy to see her daughter beginning to thrive again. And then... Tigerclaw attacked ThunderClan with Brokentail's rogues and attempted to kill Bluestar. Frostfur herself had been on patrol at the time, and rushed back as soon as she heard the camp was being invaded. Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw were both there, and though Cinderpaw had made progress, she wasn't going to be very good at fighting for a while yet. She had to protect her kits. Brightpaw and Thornpaw were with their mentors, and she trusted them to keep them safe. Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw were with their mentors as well, yes, but they were also in the middle of a battle.

Frostfur arrived in time to help her kits drive away a rogue, impressed with how well Cinderpaw was doing with her brother helping her. They worked as an incredible team. It didn't surprise Frostfur too much that, after Tigerclaw was exiled, they were named warriors early, becoming Cinderpelt and Brackenfur. Brightpaw and Thornpaw were jealous, but Frostfur couldn't be more proud of all of her kits. The other two would get their names in time, she was sure of it... until Bluestar stripped Redtail of his deputy position and named Flickerflower her new deputy. Frostfur could see her former mentor's paranoia developing, how she was spiraling quickly.

Bluestar's paranoia meant Brightpaw and Thornpaw stayed apprenticed for far longer than they should have, and both were incredibly frustrated about it. At one point, Thornpaw snaps at his siblings, almost clawing Brackenfur. By then, Frostfur realized two of her kits were named warriors not because they were ready, but because their mentors were among the only cats Bluestar trusted now. Most of the Clan treated Brightpaw and Thornpaw as warriors in all but name, and there was a movement to make them warriors officially--one that new deputy Flickerflower agreed with. After much debate, plus a fire ravaging ThunderClan's territory, Bluestar reluctantly agrees to name them warriors, and they become Brightheart and Thornclaw.

First character look! Probably my personal favorite of the Thistleclaw kits in this AU

Description: A light brown broken mackerel tabby molly with a white chest and paws and pale green eyes. The white extends up her neck to the base of her muzzle and down towards her upper belly. She has pale green eyes and long, soft fur. Cryptic tortoiseshell-tabby.

History:

Honeyflower was the fourth kit born to Spottedleaf. Named for her sweetness and light brown fur, Honeykit lived up to her name. She looked up to both her mother and her aunt Willowpelt and how much they cared for both her and her siblings and half-siblings. Even after she learned the truth of her sire, their warmth and love stuck with her, and she knew one day she wanted to settle down with a mate and kits of her own. She didn’t slack off in her warrior training, though; on the contrary, Honeypaw excelled in fighting. Having received a larger build from Thistleclaw, she used her strength to become a guardian for those who couldn’t fight back. Her mentor, Redtail, was extremely proud of her.

Honeypaw was named a warrior alongside her siblings, receiving the name Honeyflower for her nurturing nature and fierce desire to protect those who can’t fight themselves. Now a warrior, she started padding after Tigerclaw, admiring his strength. She was too caught up in her love to realize he still supported Thistleclaw’s actions, and didn’t listen to her brother Fireheart’s concerns about him.

Honeyflower was crushed when Tigerclaw seemed to join Redtail and Brindleface’s relationship, with the former expecting his kits. However, after Redtail miscarried and Brindleface had her kits, Tigerclaw moved away from them an appeared to reciprocate Honeyflower’s feelings. By that leaf-bare, she was in the nursery with five kittens: Bramblekit, Tawnykit, Cloudkit, Asterkit, and Yewkit.

Poor Honeyflower is crushed again when the truth of Tigerclaw’s treachery is revealed. With the reveal, she realized she missed so many red flags in her relationship with him, and that Fireheart was right to be worried. Her energy shifted solely to her kits, trying to protect them from judgement based on their sire–especially Bramblekit and Tawnykit. Honeyflower was ready to tear her Clanmates a new one if they even implied her kits would be anything like Tigerclaw.

Also a trans character being referred to as their birth gender (he’s a newborn and while he is mostly referred to with they/them pronouns, he is called a molly)

Spottedpaw’s kits were born on a cold leaf-bare night, with only the light of the stars watching over them. She hadn’t made it to the last half-moon meeting at Highstones, too close to kitting to make the journey--and Willowpaw still needed a seer in case anything happened to her three remaining kits. She had given birth to six kits almost a moon ago, but one was stillborn and two more faded between their birth and now.

“I’m sorry, StarClan,” she whispered as she watched the five little shapes suckle from her. Two toms and three mollies, fighting to make it through the night. Two of her kits were fighting especially: a brown and white molly and a ginger tom. They were her two smallest, both weaker than their siblings, and Spottedpaw feared they might not make it through the night. “I’m sorry I couldn’t stop him.”

Spottedpaw was barely 11 moons old, far too young to be a mother. And she was a seer apprentice to boot--seers weren’t supposed to have a mate or kits. It went back to the dawn of the Clans, declared by the first seers themselves. I’m a failure of a seer already, she thought, forcing her gaze from her kits to her paws. Despite herself, she felt her tail wrap around her kits, fierce love beginning to burn in her chest. I’m sorry, I love them already.

“You did nothing wrong,” a soft voice mewed, catching Spottedpaw’s attention. She recognized the star-flecked snowy-white pelt of Snowfur almost immediately, and knew then that she was dreaming.

"But I did," she mumbled. Louder, she added, "I'm a seer apprentice! Even if I was mated against my will, I still had kits! Seers aren't supposed to have kits!" Tears welled up in Spottedpaw's amber eyes. "And despite everything, I love them!"

Snowfur's eyes were soft as she padded towards Spottedpaw. "That's the key, Spottedpaw. You were mated against your will. For StarClan's sake, you're only 11 moons old." The white molly laid beside Spottedpaw. "You and your sister both did nothing wrong. It was Thistleclaw who did something wrong--many things, really." She spat the tom's name with venom, contrasting the gentle words to the apprentice.

Spottedpaw sniffed, trying to bury her face in Snowfur's chest fur. "But... what will the other seers think? What will the other Clans think? There are already cats in ThunderClan saying we deserved it for falling in love."

"You didn't fall in love," Snowfur said, suppressing a growl at the end of her sentence. "Thistleclaw manipulated you both. To him, you two were hardly more than prey." Under her breath, she muttered, "I'm not sure what I ever saw in him." She gave Spottedpaw's head a gentle washing to soothe the young molly. "Any reasonable cat will see this was forced on you and Willowpaw. I don't care how lonely that foxheart was after my death, he never should have come near you two."

Spottedpaw drew back a little, whispering, "Do you miss the cat he used to be?"

Snowfur paused. "I... don't know," she finally replied. "I'm not sure if he was ever the cat I thought he was."

"He... he killed someone," Spottedpaw hiccuped. "I can't believe that's what it took for me to get away from him... I should have seen the red flags sooner."

"Spottedpaw," Snowfur mewed firmly, "it's not your fault that you were manipulated. It's his fault for manipulating you."

Spottedpaw laid there for a while, looking much smaller than she actually was. "I'm scared," she finally mewed. "I... I never wanted kits. But now I have them... and I'm scared I won't be a good mother for them."

"You'll have plenty of help," Snowfur replied. "Your sister, for one, but also your friends and family. I'm sure Bluefur would be happy to help as well." Snowfur shifted so she was curled up against Spottedpaw. "Do you have names for them?"

Spottedpaw was quiet for a bit, leaning into Snowfur's soft pelt, but eventually she nodded. "I think the lighter ginger tom will be Dawnkit. They remind me of the sun rising at dawn, especially when the sky is more red." She paused, thinking again. "The brown and white molly will be Puddlekit," she added. "Their white patches look like puddles on the ground. And the tortoiseshell molly beside them will be Stormkit. They have that ThunderClan ferocity already." Spottedpaw purred as she felt Stormkit kneading at her belly--she may be dreaming, but she was still aware of what her kits were doing.

"And the other two?"

"The brown tabby molly will be Honeykit," Spottedpaw continued. "Their fur is a little darker than honey, but something about them reminds me of it. Maybe it's a sign they'll be sweet when their personality shows more." She gently nosed the head of the last kit, a bright ginger tom. "And this last one is Firekit. Their pelt is a burning fire. I can imagine it'll be even more dramatic in the sun."

"Dawnkit, Puddlekit, Stormkit, Honeykit, and Firekit," Snowfur purred, touching her nose to each kits' head as she said their names. "I will watch over you and your mother from StarClan. Regardless of what happens, you are all in safe paws."

Soothed by the purring, Spottedpaw closed her eyes again. She felt Snowfur fading, her dream giving way to dreamless sleep, but despite the cold night, she felt warm. Safe. Loved.

Description: A heavyset, shaggy medium-dark grey tom with a thick, darker stripe down his spine and two white toes on his front right paw. He has bright yellow eyes and very long, thick fur that he has difficulty keeping neat. After his time with RiverClan, his pelt becomes sleeker due to the diet change, though it's still shaggy and easily ruffled.

Personality: Greystripe was very happy-go-lucky when he was younger, and was considered a slacker among the apprentices. Neither Lionheart nor Stormclaw could curb his lazy tendencies, though they tried. It wasn't until he lost Silverstream that he started to mature and pull his own weight, now forced to deal with the consequences of his actions after brushing off concerns from his friend Flickerflower. He joined RiverClan to be with his kits, but missed his home in ThunderClan too much to thrive. Eventually, he got exiled over it, and was reluctantly welcomed back to ThunderClan. Greystripe had to prove exactly where his loyalties lie after that, though it allowed him to bond with his older half-brothers. Though he missed his kits, Greystripe knows his heart belongs to ThunderClan.

Description: A small, pale ginger tabby molly with a very pale, almost white, underside. She has barely-visible pale brown tabby patches on her lower back and tail, and white rings around her eyes. She has amber eyes with flecks of blue in them, and her fur is short.

Personality: Dawncloud was always a shy individual. Growing up as an only kit to their two mothers, the kits closest in age to her were Lizardstripe’s kits, and they only got along well with Sleetkit. As she grew up, they became less shy and more of a lone wolf, though they did form a strong bond with their mentor Frogtail. However, everything falls apart when Brokentail became Brokenstar. He immediately took her as a mate against her will, and she was soon expecting his kits. Fearful of what ShadowClan was becoming, when they felt their kits were coming they ran to the ThunderClan border and had their kits inside ThunderClan territory. A patrol found Dawncloud during that time, and she begged them to take her kits and keep them safe, claiming she wasn’t ready to be a mother (which... she wasn’t, but that wasn’t the main reason). The leader of the patrol, Robinwing, has mercy on Dawncloud and agrees to take the kits and raise them herself, as she had experienced a phantom pregnancy and was able and willing to nurse them. Dawncloud claimed their kits were stillborn, which Brokenstar takes out on his next “mate” Stumpytail. Seeing what happened to Stumpytail, as well as Mosspaw--who had been apprenticed at only 3 moons old and was killed during training--Dawncloud knew she made the right choice. Even if they would be forced into the nursery again with another litter of kits a few seasons later, at least their sons were safe in ThunderClan...

Description: A small, fluffy pure black molly with dark orange eyes. She has long fur and a fluffy, plumy tail. Smaller than average, but very beautiful by ShadowClan standards.

Personality: Darkflower grew up in Brokenstar's ShadowClan with skewed morality. Apprenticed at 3 moons old and made a warrior at 6, when Brokenstar deemed her fertile enough to bear his kits, she was forced to grow up very quickly. Though deeply uncomfortable, Darkflower had to bow to the whims of her leader, and no one said anything about how wrong it was as they didn't want to end up exiled like Yellowfang. Even Brokenstar's closest followers thought this was messed up, forcing a barely apprentice-aged molly to be his mate. It's only when Darkflower becomes pregnant with Brokenstar's kits that she realizes how messed up her kithood was. The stress of Brokenstar being chased out in addition to her young age caused a difficult pregnancy; one kit, who she named Hemlockkit, was stillborn, and Quietkit, despite her size, never grew strong. Turtlepaw and Rubblepaw made it to apprenticeship, but became ill with Carrionplace disease. Disease claimed Turtlepaw's life and weakened Rubblepaw to the point of probably early retirement after he became Rubblestrike. Darkflower herself, traumatized and desperate to be loved, latched onto the rogue Mowgli almost immediately, and though their relationship moved way faster than it probably should have, both were happy, and soon Darkflower was raising another litter of kits, who all wound up thriving. However, her time in the nursery triggered flashbacks to when she had Brokenstar's kits, and after a long talk with Nightwhisper, it was agreed they wouldn't try for any further litters. She wouldn't give up her kits for the world, but she wishes she had been allowed to grow up before her first litter was born.
