"Future is Now” é um projeto de Ricardo Romero (Projecto Matilha), integrado no UIVO – ecos de arte com animais e gente dentro, e de Natalia Jidovanu (Art Kids Foundation), em parceria com Steve Kyenze (NYOTA ART Gallery), e prova que não precisamos de falar a mesma língua ou nascer no mesmo berço para nos ligarmos profundamente uns aos outros – quando o coração está no sítio certo, as possibilidades são infinitas!

Este projeto irá desenvolver-se em várias fases, sendo que a primeira aconteceu em Kibera (Quénia), considerado o maior bairro de lata de África e um dos maiores do mundo, em abril deste ano, com a conceção e criação de uma intervenção artística que envolveu cerca de 24 crianças e jovens que integram os programas culturais e sociais da Art Kids Foundation e Nyota Art Gallery.

Nesta fase, explorou-se a dimensão socioeducativa da arte, envolvendo as crianças e jovens, desde a conceção à preparação e criação do mural. Realizaram-se reuniões com todos os intervenientes, encetando um processo de ressocialização, nas quais se pretendeu promover a reflexão e discussão conjunta em torno dos problemas-chave da comunidade e possibilidades de mudança, estimulando as crianças e jovens envolvidos a identificar e utilizar os seus próprios recursos e os da comunidade, de modo a desenvolverem-se como cidadãos e a descobrirem-se (e reconhecerem-se) como sujeitos da sua própria história e da comunidade / sociedade em que se inserem.

Mas é vontade de Ricardo Romero que "Future is Now" viaje de Kibera para o Mundo. E é aqui que começa a segunda fase deste projeto...

Foram muitas as fotos tiradas aos rostos e quotidiano daquelas crianças e jovens, e são essas histórias que se querem contadas com intervenções artísticas, em locais inesperados ou esquecidos, tocados pela beleza da natureza e distorcidos pela mão humana. Pretendendo-se assim, provocar sentimentos como a reciprocidade e a empatia no sentido de contribuir para o desenvolvimento de uma consciência planetária de direitos (e deveres) verdadeiramente universais.

E a viagem começa aqui, em Portugal, no "Recordação", uma embarcação de madeira que fazia o transporte de pessoas entre Setúbal e Tróia

Several months ago I was commissioned by the Halsey Institute out of Charleston, South Carolina to shoot a short film on the infamous street artist behind OBEY: Shepard Fairey. I definitely knew Shepard's work, whether it be that repetitive face of Andre the Giant popping up at every street corner I've ever been on, or as the Obama Poster that definitely did more for an election than just add aesthetic to it - but I was not aware at how incredibly inspiring Shepard would turn out to be. For a new understanding of how this skateboarder turned mega famed street star turned out to be, check this film out.
