i don’t respect “weird” art made by rich art students.
i find the art they make to be so self serving and not in a healing way. a constant jerk off session to their “genius” with nothing but their own fellow rich peers to echo the inflated image of themselves in their mind and encourage the most obnoxious behavior. a lot of them have no original ideas and just try to be the most bizarre. if your art relies on shock value… it’s well, soulless, disgusting and boring.
1000′s of dollars of art supplies and music equipment won’t make your art or music good.
honestly the hate i’ve gotten over the years is sad, it used to make me upset and nervous about my art/music/appearance but i realized people with poor self esteem see someone being authentic, and stepping outside of their comfort zone or even being proud of something they made make some people with poor self esteem feel angry. “why do THEY get to do that, i don’t get to do that!” kind of mindset…. and i’ve been on both sides except i have never sent “hate” always been more in my self dialogue. you don’t have to be angry when someone else is vulnerable, you know? it’s ok man you too can dress weird, make art, whatever you feel like you can’t do …you can!!! and hating someone else isn’t going to help you feel better
You can buy cookies online from any troop with a page set up. People bought so many cookies from troop 6000 (who is based out of a homeless shelter in NYC) that is broke the counter on the website.
Here’s six troops from high poverty areas that may struggle to reach their goals. Individual troops list on their page what they’re doing with funds. for many of these its simple things like badges or craft supplies. Get yourself some cookies.
troop 168 Sabra Grande, Puerto Rico
Troop 3559 Chinlee, Az (Navajo nation)
Troop 31897 Meadow Bridge, West Virginia

You can also just donate cookies on there and they’ll be distributed to the local community. (I work at food pantry here and clients are always excited to see cookies on the shelves)
You can look up your local troop by zip code on https://www.girlscouts.org/ If they’re similarly struggling to raise funds, reblog and add ‘em on to the chain.
A mutual of mine @indigbusyness on instagram who is Kainai / Blood Tribe Blackfoot is raising awareness of what’s happening with the Rocky Mountains in Canada/Niitsitapi territory, with plans for a coal mine to decimate the mountainside and their land.
News dropped of plans “stopped” with the mines however there’s evidence on it still going through in most of the chosen areas of the mountain. Support to stop grassy mountain coal project needs to continue, if you’re in Canada please sign this petition in support of the Blood Tribe to protect their land. Follow Niitsitapi Water Prorectors on Facebook for more information as well. If other Kainai here have information to share about it please do (I’m Piikani in US, so I only hear secondhand and haven’t seen posts about this yet)
Support Indigenous ppls fight for land/protecting their territories everywhere, especially if you are celebrating a new president in office today
