all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

22 and 52 for the OTP ask game!
22. What reminds each of their partner?Â
I answered this once a long time ago and one of my answers still sticks with meâthe long-haired male models on the covers of Harlequin romance novels remind Chrissy of Eddie. She reveals this once to him while sheâs a little bit drunk and he NEVER lets her live it down. He loves striking cover poses for her at random times, and they have way too many photos of them posing like those couples (though Chrissy is a bit embarrassed about the whole thing so Eddie is diligent about keeping the reason heâs always ripping his shirt open and pretending to stare at her heaving bosom a secret inside joke just for them).Â
For EddieâI mean⊠cheerleader porn. Lol. But also daisies and skinned knees and dainty white sneakers and every single princess character he ever writes into a D&D campaign.Â
52. Describe their weekend getaway?
Pretty low-key. I donât think they would go away too often, mostly because they wouldnât really have the money, at least not while theyâre young. Sometimes they would go away for shows in Indianapolis or Chicago and stay in shitty motels, drinking a little more than they usually would (I think they both prefer drinking to weed, even though that seems to be a minority opinion) and just feeling free exploring together at night and talking to random people, sometimes making up ridiculous backstories for themselves with strangers (this has been used a few times in different fics and I love it everytime). Iâm a big fan of Chrissy being a lil bookworm and loving the vibe of used bookstores, so I like to think every once in awhile theyâll spend weekends exploring bookstores in nearby small towns, thoroughly scouring their fantasy and romance sections. They both love each othersâ favourite genres and read out loud to each other in bed a lot. Eddie is the most theatrical about it of course with all his voices, while Chrissyâs soft voice usually lulls him to sleep.Â

once i saw an argument break out in a gay bar over whether scar from the lion king is gay or bisexual so never let your romanticized view of Offline tell you that argument wouldn't happen in a real life gay bar. It Could.

the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belongings, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.

in my head the star wars equivalent of tswift is some human woman named tayâlor spiff or something and her stans are losing their minds over theories that sheâs secretly a jedi singing about the horrors of war, even though sheâs from a neutral system that hasnât seen so much as a moral panic in 50 years

okay. i debated not posting this because I was worried Iâd get death threats (that says a lot doesnât it) but it needs to be said, because its upsetting me.
a woman who publicly says she feels very sane and has ânever been to therapyâ and who breaks up with her boyfriend in part because he canât just ââget overââ his depression to love her the way she wants/needs does not.
I repeat, does not.
get to use the imagery she did in her fortnight video.
Iâve been seeing gifsets and screenshots all day of her chained to a bed but ~aesthetic~ and being fed a pill after a cheeky side eye and strapped to a glamourfied ECT machine and no one has said anything about it so I will. those images are genuinely triggering for me.
people have been restrained, forcefed pills, and given electroconvulsive therapy or subjected to the electric chair for severe mental illness against their will. these are not fun props anyone gets to throw around to express that they feel depressed or in a âmanic phaseâ or like they were âraised in an asylum.â
she doesnât know how a real asylum fried my grandmotherâs brain or real cops restrained me because I was psychotic and manic. she doesnât know what it feels like to be dehumanised that way.
do better. demand she do better, too.
edit: I say that this content is triggering to say that it causes real harm. I do still have a responsibility to myself to curate an internet experience for myself. this does not negate her responsibility to avoid replicating harmful tropes in art which is deeply influential. she does not get to co-opt institutionalization or psychiatric violence as a romanticized aesthetic or as a metaphor because real people like myself have suffered greatly under the things she is representing as glamorous or cool. institutionalization silences and violates mentally ill people in a way that marginalizes them, and that experience should be treated with sensitivity and care rather than being commodified to reduce stigma. if she had experienced these things, I might feel differently, but other ableist content on the record and her statements on her life and art indicate otherwise. she is a woman with immense privilege and power and should not be using that privilege and power to punch down on mental illness.
