almost a month with no birds 馃槶 it's no secret i'm on a bit of a break. i've had basically Zero free time so keeping up this blog is a little difficult (especially with how i shot myself in the foot by making my birds so detailed...) but i promise birds daily is not abandoned! i just need to focus on finishing out the semester and then we'll be back in business 馃挭馃敟 thanks for being so patient with me guys!! i hope you'll enjoy my april fools post in the meantime :0)

today it's time for a spotlight on our little mascot <3
i was originally gonna post this for my birthday on the 25th, but i got a little busy with celebrating and then schoolwork. and before you know it, it had been almost a week since i'd posted... my bad! anyways, onto the fun facts!
- the gleeble woodcock, also sometimes called the little green woodcock, is a species of woodcock haling from the planet glebulax. it bares a striking resemblance to the earthern american woodcock
- the gleeble woodcock can fly down to -3 mph, making it not only the slowest flying bird, but also completely beyond the laws of physics
- despite being from different planets, the gleeble woodcock shares the characteristic "peent" call with its american cousin
- the gleeble woodcock uses the antennae on its head to communicate with other members of its species by emitting complex brainwaves. they can also use these brainwaves to control humans for fun and sport
- this account may or may not be ran by a gleeble woodcock piloting a human vessel
- gleeble woodcock society is surprisingly complex. they even have their very own gleebular calendar, complete with various unique holidays. when these gleeble holidays come around, the woodcocks celebrate with ornate parties, complete with elegant dancing and gleeble jazz

the kids' online safety act
i've gotten a few messages recently asking me to talk about the kids' online safety act, or KOSA, and because i have sort of a platform, i think it's important i use it to try to do some good
first of all, don't let its name fool you.
i'm no expert on the whole thing, but this video here has a very good explanation of it. long story short, this act could threaten minority groups such as black, brown, queer, and others, as well as affect the ability to organize online, among other things.
now, i don't need to tell you, but this is bad.
furthermore, the anonymity the internet provides will be killed, because people will need to prove their age by uploading their government ids.
everything. will. be. watched.
here's a link to a change.org petition to stop it.
we need to fight this.
