as someone who got 2 concussions this year and inhaled toxic substances at the workplace i can confidently inform you all that all characters in the star wars prequels are absolved of stupidity. they're all dumb as a box of rocks but its not their fault that no one made them wear helmets in wartime. the introduction of SPOSHA (space OSHA) would reduce incidences of darth vader creation by at least one i just know it

Tips for writing those gala scenes, from someone who goes to them occasionally:
Generally you unbutton and re-button a suit coat when you sit down and stand up.
You鈥檙e supposed to hold wine or champagne glasses by the stem to avoid warming up the liquid inside. A character out of their depth might hold the glass around the sides instead.
When rich/important people forget your name and they鈥檙e drunk, they usually just tell you that they don鈥檛 remember or completely skip over any opportunity to use your name so they don鈥檛 look silly.
A good way to indicate you don鈥檛 want to shake someone鈥檚 hand at an event is to hold a drink in your right hand (and if you鈥檙e a woman, a purse in the other so you definitely can鈥檛 shift the glass to another hand and then shake)
Americans who still kiss cheeks as a welcome generally don鈥檛 press lips to cheeks, it鈥檚 more of a touch of cheek to cheek or even a hover (these days, mostly to avoid smudging a woman鈥檚 makeup)
The distinctions between dress codes (black tie, cocktail, etc) are very intricate but obvious to those who know how to look. If you wear a short skirt to a black tie event for example, people would clock that instantly even if the dress itself was very formal. Same thing goes for certain articles of men鈥檚 clothing.
Open bars / cash bars at events usually carry limited options. They鈥檙e meant to serve lots of people very quickly, so nobody is getting a cosmo or a Manhattan etc.
Members of the press generally aren鈥檛 allowed to freely circulate at nicer galas/events without a very good reason. When they do, they need to identify themselves before talking with someone.

While a lot of people seem to agree that the older anime style looked way prettier, one thing I don't see often talk about is the color pallettes!!!!
Look! It's so pretty!! The colors may be muted, but it's so colorful still!
I absolutely LOVE the muted colors. 80s/90s anime had the right idea on this- I kinda don't like how modern anime tends to make everything extremely vibrant and shiny (which granted, can work in certain situations and artstyles). I also think cel shading looks overall nicer than the weird blur thing anime does nowadays.
(I'm going to be fair though, modern detco also has nice colors, I just miss the older look a lot...)

one of my greatest pet peeves in fiction, and it is truly stupid I know, is that no one seems to understand how genuinely hard it is to kill someone via stabbing. stab wounds have a mortality rate of like 5%. especially abdominal stabbing. tv shows and movies show dudes getting stabbed one time in the lower abdomen with a tiny knife and then they fall over. like what did he die of precisely. that man died of Small Knife

enough reclaiming slurs, I think in 2023 we should reclaim nascar. they banned the confederate flag on all properties & their stance on lgbtq+ isn鈥檛 just performative bc in 2013 they fined a driver 10k for using a homophobic slur, condemned indiana in a statement for an anti lgbt law, and partnered w carolina鈥檚 lgbt+ chamber of conference in 2022. nascar was founded by anti-cop moonshiners/bootleggers who drove suped-up fords to out-run the police. #yaaascar
