feeling super grateful for the peace of running during this unsettling time and also super grateful for the cute dog I saw at the end

Five pain-free miles Thursday. Six pain-free miles today. Both on the trails. Both at a solid pace.
I could cry out of happiness. My heart is smiling. 👣

October 20th and still running in shorts 😁
There was another runner a couple meters behind me for the first half, he was running with the same pace and didn't make an attempt to pass by so I took the start way too fast... Then I turned right and a woman was running in front of me whom I wanted to pass by I couldn't 😒 I had to take care not to slip on the muddy forest path... According to my watch my pace was faster during the second half though 😅 But I should really take these short runs a bit more relaxed!

i wish more runners understood how individual running is for every person. i know runners who go straight back to training the day after a half marathon, but i needed a full week off before trying an easy run. some runners do double run days, i typically only run 4 days a week. some thrive off of using fruits and veggies as their main source of carbs, but that leaves me hungry and unsatisfied.
running is a personal and intimate sport. it’s not meant to be the same for everyone. comparison fuels dread and unreasonable expectations.
honour your own needs. self-trust fuels joy and unrelenting passion.

i think one of the biggest problems i have with getting stuff done is i assume it’s easy for other people. like “she gets up at six every morning because she’s a morning person” or “yeah, he can run five miles every day but he likes running” or “she knows five languages, her brains just wired differently than mine” when in reality it’s all about discipline for everyone. like yeah, some people have natural aptitudes for some things but anyone that’s accomplishing anything is putting in the work. achievements don’t come easy, and i think if i start acknowledging that it’s like that for everyone i can stop making excuses

Had pancakes for breakfast again this morning. I added chopped pear into the batter and topped them with fresh fruit, cashew butter and date syrup and they were AMAZING! (instagram: @aspoonfulofhealth_)
