ok but like in the “stay in ketterdam” chapel scene in the show i think the most fucking heartbreaking part is when inej ends her sentence (“so our lips never touch”) and kaz flinches back from her and pulls his hand away, the very same hand that he had reached out to her to begin with. you can see how much it hurts and the shame all over his face

In his six years at Hogwarts, Regulus still can't for the life of him figure out the seemingly collective thought process of his peers. He's never been good at that sort of thing.
In the library, which Regulus has spent plenty of afternoons wandering aimlessly through, there is a window towards the back, just by the entrance to the restricted section. There are other windows in the library, of course - it's not in the dungeons - but for some reason, this particular window has an extra wide windowsill. Big enough to fit one person, definitely, maybe two if you don't care about personal space. And for as long as Regulus can remember, students have been carving their names beside the person they hope to share the windowsill with into the weathered wood.
Regulus has never understood it, doubts he ever will. Until one day when he's on his way through the library, looking for an old herbology textbook, and he spots a new carving basking in the sunlight. (He doesn't understand why they're there, but he's spent enough time in these back shelves to memorize every letter.)
Surrounded by a heart, placed just underneath the window, are the initials J.F.P. and R.A.B.
Suddenly, Regulus thinks he understands just fine.
