Aileen Rao
She’s both a gamer and a supermodel, an already incredible feat, but she’s also incredibly good at reading her opponents and hypnotism! She’s one of the few opponents in the series to make Yami/Yugi noticeable stressed for… multiple reasons, one involving her pet tiger and Anzu in the next room
she is one of the very few opponents who gets brought back later, and when she does she almost beats Jounochi's ass in human street fighter, a vote for Aileen is a vote for women's wrongs!

so if you don't know season 0, kaiba has four game masters he recruits from around the world to duel yugi. Aileen Rao is one of them, which means of all the people in the world, she is one of a very few people that seto freaking kaiba thinks has mad skills
and she does!
she plays this game where players put up pieces and try to guess what the other has played in order to eliminate the opponent's pieces (link explains the game better). Aileen is so good at this game that yami yugi who has a magic necklace legit thinks that she has supernatural powers for most of the game
Aileen has so much charisma that she's assumed to have hypnotic powers, getting anzu to just hold one ballet position for the entirety of her game with yami yugi
also Aileen has a tiger, which is objectively a cool character trait in any fictional media
she's also Indian-Canadian, which I think is neat because we just don't see a lot of south asian characters in ygo
she's one of my favorite yugioh characters ever and my favorite season 0 character

ladyange is soooooo cool and her art is so nicely coloured and she lets you draw 2 and get a free pend scale out of it!! one of the most fun and useful performapal cards and very dear to my heart <3

I enjoyed her appearance in zexal, short as it was, because i like that she was both a pro duelist and a teacher to another girl. it’s really refreshing to have that dynamic in shows where there are either so few female characters they barely interact (like gx) or shows that have female characters mostly competing with each other for the protag’s romantic interest (like… most of zexal slifuhsfs)
umimi also just gave the sense that she really knew what she wanted out of life, deciding for herself when competing made sense and when being a full-time teacher made sense for her

Yuamu Ohdo
Weeping because she deserves so much more than what the show gives her. She started off so cool and smart and now she does absolutely nothing and is treated like a stupid person. Anyways, she’s awesome because of the potential she has. Her deck is full of hacking and technology based dragons and it’s super rad
Yuamu is a girlboss, literally. She's the president of UTS and introduced as one of the smartest characters. Her two ace monsters are based on Blue Eyes and Red Eyes too which is epic.

Ranze Nanahoshi
ranze is not only funny as hell but the type of delusion girls her age go through of believing they are the lead in some sort of romantic movie (relatable) and I love her for that. girl is giggling and kicking her legs in bed writing in her diary I know it I feel it and god bless it you go girl. despite that she is so #intellectual, enough so to be in the student council alongside gakuto and very diligent and responsible except for when she is not NONETHELESS hands down one of the best sevens girls which believe me it is such a tough competition

A little annoying at first but later on you see she’s very capable and a good duelist.
REBECCA PROPAGANDA TIME (she is one of the characters ever i adore her):
She graduated college young cause she's a child genius. She beat bandit keith in a card game IMMEDIATELY AFTER DUELIST KINGDOM ENDED just so she could get on the headlines of the news to meet yugi in her debut episode. She's a PRO GAMER AND PRO HACKER. REBECCA WAS ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE THAT COULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YUGI AND ATEM DIRECTLY. She DIRECTLY INFLUENCED IRL META when ygo tcg/ocg was still young. She says Fuck. She can ride horsey :) she loves her grandpa <3 and shes a real one for staying dedicated to her long distance friendships. One of my favorite americans in ygo fr fr
Shes also hilarious, poisoned my sense of humor.

I adore Prima Guitarna's summoning chant. She's Romin's ace monster, given to her by her idol, Princess G, and an absolutely awesome card!

Princess Rose
A vote for Princess Rose is a vote for jank. What's more fun? A unique and interesting strategy that utilises the ignored suite of the popular Frog cards to win via Des Croaking (something which stuck out in my mind even before watching the History of Yu-Gi-Oh/History of Jank videos by Cimo on Youtube) or something uninteresting that pretty much any deck can do thus is dull and rote compared to Princess Rose's choir of adorable frogs?
So I guess a vote for Princess Rose is also a vote for the frog meta (lol)
Also Princess Rose is just one of the many fun side characters of GX, early GX did such a great job of introducing us to how many fun and eccentric students there are at Duel Academy. She is definitely one of my favourites in that capacity.
Nanaho Nanahoshi
List of her slays because she’s cool and evil and I am her only fan
When she was like six, she convinced the pro-tag (Yuga Ohdo) that her ladybug looking hat was a real ladybug that was trying to eat her. This made Yuga freeze up and have a mini panic attack whenever ladybugs come by him.
During the show, Yuga see’s Nanaho again after that incident, and then threatens to destroy the entire building that are in. This building is a government building that keeps the city running btw. If a girl can get you to almost cause terrorism she’s a girlboss.
Nanaho brainwashed one of the main friend characters (Swirly) into a zombie like state that just made it seem like he had rabies. Nanaho brings back the most chaotic and arguably cutthroat villain in Sevens (Swirly) for the lols. It’s implied that she heard how chaotic he was and thought “oh that seems like a cool guy! I should cure him of his current memory loss to make the town go into anarchy FOR THE LOLS”
She is the technically the reason Yugioh Go Rush exists.
Nanaho comes from the “evil” part of her ninja family. This gets her sick ninja swag and a little army. (with other bug hats btw) This also lets her stay at the “ninja insect village”, which is a bug amusement park.
She commits terrorism.

Here to provide the Kiku propaganda because we LOVE absolutely normal side characters in these whacky card game animes!
-Is a total Mom Friend to Takeru, making sure he is safe when he wanders off on his own and skips classes
-Reminds Takeru that he has people who care about him
-Shows concern for Takeru's (seemingly) irrational phobias and his major life altering decisions, but supports his choices, promising to look after his elderly grandparents when he leaves.
-Is nervous to try new hobbies going into Link VRAINS for the first time, but does so because it makes Takeru happy and she still supports her friend after months of separation.
In conclusion, Kiku isn't a walk-the-walk talk-the-talk duelist who can stand up to people who threaten to destroy the world, but she IS the person who will lift up her friends and give THEM the confidence they need to be a walk-the-walk talk-the-talk duelist who can stand up to people who threaten to destroy the world!
And that's why this side character who only appears in 3 out of 120 episodes in Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS is best girl!

Silent Magician
Helped defeat Atem's Dark Magician during the Ceremonial Duel. Also a manifestation of Yugi's growth throughout the series. Canonically has a daughter (Silent Paladin) that she taught magic. She's very beautiful and powerful and has different color pallets depending on whether you watched DSOD or the anime or read the original manga or even own her different cards so that's neat. She's also a pretty good card too in her archetype and she has a very unique playstyle.
Emi Ayukawa
I enjoyed her role in GX, mainly her relationship with Rei. I'm glad there was one (1) woman employed by Duel Academy (though I wish there were more). Having an adult woman around who can play mentor role to the girls at the school is nice.

what if a fantasy demon lord was a canon lesbian that set up a bunch of traps in her personal dungeon every day for her beloved hero to clear every time? also her design doc has her in a sweater making card castles while she waits for her hero to show up and confirms that the whole insane ojousama aspect of her personality that she shows in cards like big welcome labrynth is just her way of flirting with lady hero and whenever someone else tries to brave her dungeon she just shows up without doing the whole dramatic entrance

support (non-humanoid) monster girls :) i can't really speak to her role in the tcg meta, but I think her design is very interesting. She seems to draw from spiders and beetles predominantly with the design choices, but "queen" implies that she's meant to call a eusocial insect like bees or ants to mind. very creative mix if you ask me. I really love insects and arachnids and have for many, many years, so I would really like to see her get some love

Kisara
let's show some love to the Og Mother of Dragons (Okay so technically GoT came out before Memory World chapters but shush), The Lady of White herself Kisara!!!!
Unlike some female characters in yugioh her development (or lack there of) wasn't due to poor writing so much as it was because Takahashi-senses was unable to have the time to write what he wanted, to expand on her story/character more.
Still for what we do get; she's quiet but still strong, powerful choosing only to fight in defense of others and never forgets a kindness- even after all those years she never forgot the boy who set her free. Arguably in away Set/Seto doesn't control her spirit/ Ka but instead she chooses to fight by his side even in death.
She also makes for a fantastic parallel to Bakura- both having grown up enduring much hardship and suffering. He chooses to inflict that suffering back on others deserving or not where as she doesn't. Both wield powers near the level of a God his of darkness and hers of light.
She's quite literally the physical embodiment of a powerful dragon/ duel monster. And arguably one of the most iconic monsters in yugioh at this point too.
Kisara may not have as much going for as so many others due to her limited screen time but I think even with what little we do get there is an amazing character to be found with boundless untapped potential (much like Kisara herself in a way I suppose)
