I force the corners of my lips into a smile as the Maid of Honor finishes her speech about my dad and my new step-mom. I kept eye contact with Jason the entire time trying not to  burst into laughter as the woman said things like ‘they’re a match made in Heaven’ and ‘they’re such a great team’. Were just completely ignoring the face that there’s a 15 year age gap, and that she’s just after my Fathers money. She wasn’t perfect for him, and I had gotten to spend the entire day with her to figure that out.

We started with getting our hair and makeup done. I chugged mimosas as she barked orders at the photographer. I felt sorry for anyone that had to take orders from her today. I could assume that the stress of the Wedding makes her a disrespectful piece of trash, but I know deep down this is just how she talks to people in general. We’re finally done eating, and my taste buds are fried due to the straight shots of Tequila I’ve been sneaking behind everyone’s back. The D.J. calls the ‘happy couple’ to the dance floor for their first dance. I had been dreading this since my Dad told me he was marrying her. I couldn’t help but think of a simpler time when my mom and dad were married and he would pull her away from the dishes after dinner to dance with her in the kitchen. My mom would laugh as he sang with his arms around her, swaying gently back and forth. So much had changed since then. I groaned as my fake smile slowly transforms into a scowl.

“So you just, talked? All night?” Brian confirms, with a confusion glazed over his face. We were on our way to pick up Jason and this was the first time I had Kyle and Brian alone to tell them that I slept in the same bed as Y/N.

“Yeah. What’s weird about that?”

Kyle leans up between the seat to grab the aux cord from Brian’s hand, “What did you guys talk about?”

“I mean everything, mainly just the past. Memories and stuff.”

“And… you didn’t do anything else?” Brian asks, still confused and I try to pretend like I don’t understand why he is. I do though, they both see through me like a screen door. I don’t have to say anything for them to understand what’s going on in my head. Normally, I would brag about that aspect of our relationship, however right now I was extremely annoyed by it.
