accidentally unleashed cat autism on another person in the emergency vet waiting room. she had a British Shorthair kitten that looked almost identical to this:
and confessed that her vet had said it couldn't be purebred, because it was 'part tabby'.
so I had to say that no, tabby is just a colouration, and though British Shorthairs are known for being solid blue, tabbies are allowable in the breed. I then pointed out some of his physical characteristics to explain how he was actually a good example of his breed.
(important to note that I'd started this conversation by saying "wow, I've never seen a British Shorthair before", only to follow it up with a recitation of The International Cat Association breed standard from memory. I don't think I need an official diagnosis, this is just.......there's no fighting the allegations.)
