“Upir … I’ve heard of them,” Emma lied, honestly having no idea how an Upir differed from a vampire. “But, anyway, I’m Emma.” She held her hand out to him, palm down, almost like she expected him to kiss it rather than shake it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kovac. Where can I find these get-togethers? Do you attend them?” She fluttered her eyelashes at him.
Tumblr media
“I doubt it but whatever” he shrugged. No one ever bothered to look further into different types of vampire species. In most peoples eyes if you were a vampire, you were just a vampire. Beau looked down at her hand and raised an eyebrow. Was he a gentleman? Kind of. But he was also the Upir King and that factor had him ignoring the gesture. “Depends, the whereabouts change but word spreads quickly so you’ll have no trouble hearing about one. Yeah, I’m at them considering the role I have here as well as my job”

“I wanted to talk to you,” Emma said, sipping on her drink. “You’re a vampire, right? I just moved here, and I was wondering about the community, you know? Are there any parties or get togethers? I haven’t been to a party in forever.” She gave him a smile, glancing him up and down and liking what she saw, even with the flecks of blood around his mouth.
Tumblr media
“Yeah I’m an Upir” he nodded “There’s occasional get togethers but not many. A lot of just gather round the different bars in town. It seems immortality goes great with alcoholism” he shrugged with a smirk and wiped any remains away from his mouth with his thumb “The names Beau Kovac” he said introducing himself, not knowing if she knew who he was or not.

Beau:
There was so much that could be said about how she waited for him, did as she was told. Her days had become so obsolete, and although for the hundred years before she came to Sunnybrooke she wandered totally alone, in these past few months she had never felt lonelier. It was having loved and lost that amplified her maudlin mindset, even though she hadn’t lost for certain yet, to expect the worst seemed to resonate as the most realistic outcome. With the impassiveness Felix had reacted to her with the other day, she had discovered a new set of setbacks that had her plummeting into a new kind of low. His indifference hurt more than hatred possibly could, the rejection was just a twist of the knife. But she knew, somehow, it wasn’t real. In some way, there was a reassurance within her that told her all was not what it seemed.
But in a way wasn’t that more terrifying still?
With her back against the wall and her head bowed while these frantic thoughts raced through her aching mind, Nimueh waited as she said she would, but there really wasn’t any definitive reason as to why she was waiting. When he reappeared, she couldn’t do an awful lot to suppress her shock at the grizzly sight of him. Her eyes widened as soon as the blood that caked his chin was registered, and she swept her head away for a few moments to gather her composure. This was normal in this town.
“Really, I’m not sure. If I knew then I would tell you,” she stuttered as she hesitantly looked back to him, a sheepish smile toying with her lips as she shook her head and forced her eyes back away from him, after gracing a polite few seconds contact.
Tumblr media
“I just felt the- well, I wanted to make sure you were alright.” She scratched at the cuff of her sleeve as her vision darted from him to the ground, and back again. “Something told me you were not, but I understand now,” Her heel scuffed the curb and she cleared her throat. There was something else, something in common and she could sense it so fiercely that it was there for her to reach out and touch. Or perhaps, she was just going mad. “I apologise for keeping you.”
She turned to walk away.
Beau raised an eyebrow at the words. He knew words like that well over his time of immortality. They were hollow. They were words of the lost. “Are you okay?” was all he could ask. Emotions weren’t his strong suit but he couldn’t very well leave her. The lost and hallow feelings he knew all too well. It’s about two of the few feelings Beau had left in him. His eyes scanned over her, taking in the general information he could collate about the girl in the short time they were standing. She was a faerie, old enough to be an old soul but young enough to adapt, timid and he now gathered that it seems that emotions were her thing.
Tumblr media
“Well...yeah” he started “You felt what? I’m fine, the hunger thing gets a bit wild at times. But you don’t need to know that it doesn’t concern you since you’re y’know faerie” he shrugged. Clearly his social skills needed some work since he was bombing it in having any sort of conversation. “No need to apologise, you were just doing what you thought was best. I just didn’t want to hurt you”

vampire-princess-emma :
Emma was making her way out of the blood bank when she ran into someone who seemed somewhat familiar, though she couldn’t place where she’d seen him. He smelled of vampire, though she could’ve figured that out from the way he was booking it into the building. She was about to greet him, eager to speak to another vampire, but he quickly dismissed her. Frowning slightly, she took a step to the side to give him access to the door.
“I suppose …” she said, suddenly wondering if it was even worth her time to speak to someone so rude. She did have pressing questions about the vampire community in Sunnybrooke, though, so she sighed and took a sip of her travel mug of blood that she’d just bought and flavored with her signature pumpkin spice.
Tumblr media
In true Beau fashion he bolted into the building almost ripping the place to shreds to find the solution to his hunger. Practically feral and volatile, it was a wonder to why anyone even gave him a glance on days like this.
Checking his watch when he finally felt right enough to leave the building, he wiped away the leftover residue of his visit and headed out the front door to descend the stairs. “Shit, you’re still here?” he asked when the girl came into view “Sorry I didn’t realise you stuck around”

Beau:
In previous years, the transition from summer to autumn had been something Nimueh had relished in. Where glorious greens had ruled, blots of amber began to overthrow the flourish that came with seasonal heat, and even though she knew that nature rusted and wilted deeper into the year, the golden glow of October always felt like some kind of heaven. Her period of pessimism came with the starkness of winter, where bare trees offered nothing but scratches and flora and fauna bowed beneath the soil, away from the cold. These months gave pittance anyway, but said pittance crept it’s way through autumn too, and hence, the Earth gave her no joy within the corner of the year where she had always found plenty.
In the macabre state that she greeted most days with, she fled from the library with an urgency to nestle in the safety of her home. Attending her work had not been such an easy thing to keep up, but on the days she went, she was thankful for the interruption to her ever melancholy existence.  Had these dreadful affairs happened in spring time, at least she could have found solace within a thriving forest, but alas, to concrete she was bound.
On her journey home her eyes stayed fixed to the path ahead, save for a few hopeful glances that searched for the criminalised boy who’s fist gripped a portion of her heart. She did not see him, as was the norm, but instead, another man. Hesitation nipped at her heels, but her feet carried her toward him without asking permission. She wasn’t sure if she’d seen him before, but instantly, she felt compelled to see him closer. There was something off with him, and the nurture that she often felt rose, urging her to speak to him, to ensure his well-being. As soon as she reached him, he dismissed her. She felt a stab of disappointment but fear overshadowed it, telling her that she shouldn’t argue his request. She listened to the internal warning, and leaned against a wall, ankles crossed and head bowed.
“I’ll wait here.”
Tumblr media
He could smell her blood type from a mile away and if he wasn’t right next to the blood bank Beau may have very well lost it in a haze. A faerie. She smelled sweet, like a mix of fresh fruit and spring flowers at the height of their season. He could smell her soul and sense her fear. His posture stiffened at her movements and he held up his hand, giving her a curt nod. “Shit, okay. Wait inside if you want. I’ll be back in a bit” he managed to choke out before he swiftly darted into the blood bank with no idea if the girl chose to follow or not.
His fists were clenched at his side when he’d entered the building, his nails digging into his skin. As soon as he was spotted he was taken into a room. “Type A” he barked at the nurse, barley holding it together. His teeth gnawing into his cheek in an attempt to keep him distracted long enough. “Fuck, Type A, B, O negative...I’m not picky here but can you speed this up” His stomach was churning like it was trying to consume itself to try and settle the insatiable hunger. As soon as the nurse had one of the blood bags close enough to him he ripped it from her grasp and violently tore into it. The bag bursting around his mouth sending his tastebuds into a feeding frenzy. Beau gripped onto the blood bag for dear life, inhaling every last drop he could latch into. Soon the bag was done and he tossed it to the side and yanked the second bag from the counter. The second bag was more manic than the first. He was aware the blood was all over his face but right now he didn’t care, he needed this like an addict. Revelling in the sensation of relief washing over him, Beau dropped the empty bag to the floor and let out a deep sigh when his eyes landed in the terrified nurse quivering in the corner.
He lit up a cigarette and took a long draw. Letting out that smoke was like breathing out the cloud that was lingering over him for the past few days. Beau left the room and pulled a handkerchief from his blazer pocket. He was normally so put together, so collected but he was a mess and looked like the storybook expectation of an upir vampire. Beau lifted the handkerchief to his face and began to wipe away the residue of blood that covered his features.
“What was it you wanted again?”

Beau Kovac was a somewhat patient person. He’d had to be. He’d had years to perfect it when it came to controlling his hunger and when it came to learning to tolerate people in general but today was not one of those days.
He didn’t know what it was like for others but to him the withdrawal was wild. It triggered a domino effect of symptoms. Primal instincts kicking in, his senses becoming even sharper, his body practically rattling; they were all key indication that he’d went too long without visiting the blood bank. The constant calling for red that repeated itself in his head was almost like a mantra. His famous temper creeping to the surface allowed him to judge that he was close enough to a rampage that landed him with the title of The Upir King. With his patience at an all time low and his hunger at an all time high he had to clock out from the clinic early and made a beeline straight to the blood bank. “Fuck...” he hissed to himself as he finished up a smoke and heard footsteps approaching him “Eh...look...it’s not a good time to be around me right now. Can you let me get in there first and then I’m all yours for whatever you want to talk about”

He had been keeping an eye on the other doctors around the clinic since they were all far too busy these days, but Beau couldn’t help but his eyes moving to catch Ellie over now and again. The poor woman was exhausted and to give her credit he had never heard a peep of a complaint from her. It was easy for him to forget that not everyone around town was immortal and didn’t require sleep. Looking at her now on her way to deal with a patient, he couldn’t help but feel protective over her. She was someone that didn’t have a bad bone in their body, who only wanted to help people.
Beau waited until she was finished with her patient, leaning against the main reception desk. He was talking with another one of the doctors in the process of working out next weeks schedule for shifts.
Tumblr media
Ellie had been run off her feet as of late at the clinic and the already limited staff had taken to helping out at the blood bank. The clinic covered the basics of the usual check ups, illnesses and minor injuries and they all seemed to be thriving lately. The plus side was that she was’t restricted with her abilities when it came to the workplace.
However, the extra hours teamed up with her constant studying was beginning to take its toll on her. Ellie covered her mouth as she let out a yawn while she was filling out paperwork, checking her watch she realised that she had an appointment. Heading out to the main foyer, she got the clipboard from the reception and made her way into one of the rooms in the clinic “Hi I’m Ellie, I’ll be your doctor for today. How can I help?”

daphnethegentle:
Daphne stood in front of the crowd. She’d called a public forum in the gymnasium of the high school, in order to discuss recent events. She knew many of the Sunnybrooke citizens were anxious about what happened; she could sense the fear that ran through them and felt it needed to be addressed.
“Thank you all for being here,” she said into the microphone the school provided for her. “I know many of you are wondering why I called this meeting. As some of you may know, our own Honey Larkin was apparently murdered in the woods by Lake Ryn last Sunday. The FBI have scoured the scene and are conducting an investigation. I ask that everyone please let them do their job and not try to investigate on your own. Please do not badger the border guards for answers, I’m sure they won’t know anything more than we do, and please give the FBI time to get back to us on what they’ve found.
“In the meantime, we do want to be safe, so please use the buddy system whenever you leave your homes. Please lock your doors and windows and make sure anyone who visits is a friend. If you have a problem with anyone or have any concerns, you can bring it up to your leaders.”
She looked around at the many faces gathered, getting a feeling most were not happy with her words, but this was all she could offer for now.
“Are there any questions?”
Tumblr media
He had only attended the meeting out of courtesy of the other leaders that called it, especially Daphne who was heading up the whole ordeal. He could smell the fear running around the room and could hear the worried pulses quicken when she began to talk. If he wasn’t so in control of himself, he could have easily been sent on a rampage there and then at the blood beating through everyones chest.
Beau felt some sets of eyes on him. Of course the first species people would blame would be the Upirs. He shot a cold stare to people around him and waited on Daphne to finish speaking. Some mumbles and whispers circulated around the room but no questions were ask and he rolled his eyes as a result.
