Guys can you believe that Mike was supposed to be a straight man but the writers changed their minds when Finn Wolfhard entered the picture (real)
(Excerpt from: the official Stranger Things behind the scenes book; Worlds Turned Upside Down)
Also can we appreciate how Finn lovingly calls Mike a fucking dumbass

"Everybody loves Midleven" there were tweets that got hundreds of thousands of likes making fun of Midleven and saying Lumax is better and there are Byler posts, tweets, Tiktoks that get hundreds of thousands of likes and a lot of support, also Finn got dragged after s4 because "his acting is so bad he doesn't even make Mike look interested in El anymore" and the writers and Finn BOTH got dragged after that monologue and everyone was talking about how weird and cringey and out of place it was.
Just because a lot of the casual viewers have stopped talking about the show and aren't expressing their opinions anymore and all we're seeing right now are Bylers, Midlevens, and homophobes talking about the show doesn't change the fact that a LOT of casual viewers after first watching s4 HATED the way Midleven was written and dragged Finn's acting to hell and back and a lot of them stopped shipping Midleven.
Like I can't take people who say "Midleven is the fan favorite everyone loves them" seriously anymore because am I the only one who remembers the surge in Midleven hate after s4 and the surge in people who became Bylers?? 😭

me when will has to stay at the wheelers house because hoppers cabin is just too small for everyone and he stays in the basement and suddenly byler are paralleling jancy from s2 and say goodnight to each other 8 times before going their separate ways and but suddenly mike is rushing down the stairs of his house and will is rushing up the stairs of the basement and will opens the door to see mike and “the first lie” starts playing:

While there are perfectly normal people who use Reddit, I just want to remind everyone that the platform has a huge percentage of bigoted users. It's a safe space for incels, racists, misogynists, and homophobes. It's basically the sweaty armpit of social media.
It doesn't matter what Finn, Noah, or Millie say in interviews. The subreddit will twist it into something it isn't. When Finn gave his last interview, he only spoke enthusiastically about Byler and said he wanted Will to have a happy ending.
The subreddit was flooded with comments about how Finn confirmed Mleven endgame in that interview. Neither Mleven nor El were mentioned at any point.
They don't use logic or reason. They only use their own biases and wants. They will go to any lengths and employ the most ridiculous mental gymnastics in order to feel like their desires will be met.
It's best to just ignore them. I'll personally go to the subreddit after s5 to laugh at the temper tantrums, but I'm avoiding it like the plague til then.

The more I'm learning about Jack and Joey from Dawson's Creek and about Jack in particular, the more I'm just like "this is so Mike and El??" And the fact that the Duffers LOVE Dawson's Creek and have most definitely used it as inspiration for the show??
(For context, Jack and Joey dated for multiple seasons and people thought they would be endgame until it was revealed that Jack was gay and struggling with his sexuality and then Joey and Jack broke up and ended up with different people by the end of the show...and Jack definitely ended up with a guy lol).
SO, I think we need a Melvin breakup next season that is paralleling this scene. I need them to end things on good terms and with both of them knowing that the other still really cares about them.

I saw a tweet and I wanna talk about this topic...again.
I'm actually so tired of certain people acting like breaking up a couple after a few seasons and not making them endgame isn't...a common thing for shows to do?? Because like...it's actually very common??
And I'm gonna list examples in case you don't believe me!!
(Gonna out a very embarrassing middle school hyperfixation for me...please don't make fun of me lol) but Degrassi/Degrassi Next Class. In particular, Tristan and Miles. Tristan and Miles dated in both Degrassi and Degrassi Next Class. They dated for multiple seasons...and they broke up in the last season. They weren't endgame. And I'm blanking right now with names but there were multiple other couples throughout both of those shows that dated for multiple seasons at a time but didn't end the show together and dated other people.
Dawson's Creek. Joey and Jack were together for multiple seasons and were presumed endgame by fans until they broke up because of Jack coming out as gay. Jack ended the show with a man.
The Walking Dead. Rick and Lori. I know the circumstances are a little different because Lori died, they didn't break up. But still, they were married and were together for 3 seasons before Lori's death. And then Rick got together with Michonne in s6 and they even have their own spinoff show coming out where they will (most likely) resume their relationship. Rick had a whole ass wife for 3 seasons and the writers still made it to where they weren't endgame and Rick ended up with someone else. Same with Rosita and Abraham. They were together for like 3 seasons?? And then Abraham left Rosita for Sasha.
Gilmore Girls. Rory had like 3 or 4 boyfriends throughout the entire show?? And she dated all of them for at least a season or two (if I'm remembering correctly). Idk, Rory's love life was always messy for me and complicated to follow along with lmao. But she definitely didn't just date one dude throughout the whole show.
iCarly. Freddie dated both Carly and Sam throughout the show and neither one of those couples was endgame (though I am rooting for Carly and Freddie in the reboot lmao).
Grey's Anatomy...if you have seen even a little bit of that show then you'll know the relationships are ALL over the place lmao. But one in particular is Nico and Levi. They dated on and off again for like 4-5 seasons?? And they definitely aren't gonna be endgame.
Friends. Enough said lol. Every single character on that show had multiple partners that they dated for a while before settling on their endgames.
Stranger Things!! Nancy and Steve were together for over a season. They broke up and Nancy got with Jonathan. And now after over 2 seasons of Nancy and Jonathan dating, there has been an uncertainty placed on the fate of their relationship. They are not guaranteed to be endgame (though of course we will have to wait til we see s5 before we know for sure).
Alright enough examples or this post is gonna be long as fuck (but do feel free to add your own examples in the replies if ya want).
Anyway my point is, it is VERY common to break up a couple after a few seasons and not make them endgame. It is INCREDIBLY common, even. And it is even more common to give those characters other love interests and put them in other relationships. Like almost every single show does it at least once. And it has already happened in Stranger Things before. So the Duffers have proven they don't care if a couple has been together for more than one season, it will not prevent them from breaking that couple up if they want. So why are people so confident that that outcome is IMPOSSIBLE for Mike and El?? Why do people think Midleven breaking up is just not even in the realm of possibilities??? Why do people think they're immune to that fate?? It's not like there's anything astronomically special about them as a couple lol. So why do people think they're different even though there are multiple signs that point to them breaking up next season??
If the alternative to Midleven was another straight ship instead of a gay one, would yall still think breaking up Midleven next season would be impossible?? The answer is no. You probably wouldn't.
Long story short, stop saying shit like "the Duffers wouldn't just break up Midleven after 4 seasons for Byler" as "proof" because not only do you prove you haven't payed attention to how long Mike and El have actually been a couple in canon, but you're also just wrong and showing your ignorance.
