The Linked Universe "Meow Meow" List
AKA which of the Chain has, could, and/or would be likely to commit Atrocities (TM) worthy of the designation "Poor Little Meow Meow"?
(Heavily using my personal meta for the boys)
Sky = 2-3, mostly because he's capable of them, he's probably considered a few but you know he won't.
Four = 5-6, has seriously considered a few but so far decided agaisnt it. Why? I'm nto asking, tbh. Don't want him to re-consider, get my drift? (He's the first of the Chain to bring up friendly fire after all….)
Time = 10, has absolutely committed war crimes. He has platemail, and probably the trauma nightmares to prove it.
Wind = 2-3, mostly by dint of never having the opportunity to even consider it yet. He's definitely a bit bewildered by the idea.
Twilight = 6-7, has seriously considered a few but so far hasn't had cause to commit them. Whether Rusl and the others are helping or not is a different matter entirely.
Warriors = 7-8, mostly by dint of not waging war against other human beings and the ambiguity of handling treason during active war. (Most war crimes require actions against non-combatants, your own men, or questions of proportionate force.)
Legend = 7-8, similar to above. If you asked HIM, he's pretty sure he has though even though most of the soldiers he's killed were actively trying to kill him first.
Hyrule = 6-7, hasn't really had cause to act on the scale required. Has DEFINITELY done fucked up shit the others would freak out about, but it's not war crimes…………
Wild = 4-5 range, cannot think of a reason he'd ever do something like that (yet) but is aware he's capable and probably could come up with some horrifying ways to do it if you asked.

when i started my last director job at a university, they told me one of my duties would be to write all the chancellor’s letters. me: “cool. but why though?” them: “English isn’t the chancellor’s first language.” me: “I’m aware of that.” them: “the chancellor likes the suggestions that autocorrect gives him if he misspells something.” me: “Ah.” them: hands me a copy of a letter the chancellor sent to a donor who had just given a million-dollar gift to the university, which includes the following: ‘The profundity of your gift fills us with the greatest horror. In recognition we have prepared a special plague to compromise you and your family’.
Which is why to this day when I’m struggling to communicate in a different language, i remember the chancellor, who was Doing His Best, and i try to give myself a break.

Prince almost feared that he had reached Kokiri too late. His partner was isolated, all his energy spent on a nearly futile attempt to staunch the blood gushing from his arm. His eyes were wary as Prince ran to him, but he saw relief there, too.
A deep gash was scored along Kokiri's arm, blood coating his hand and the talons of a dead aeralfos beside him. His blood soon covered Prince's hands, too, as he quickly examined the wound. It needed stitched and bandaged, and Chief thankfully arrived just as Prince determined such.
Kokiri managed to sit through it, and Chief took the hint to move on as soon as he was done. Kokiri collapsed against Prince the instant they were alone, shaky with panic and fatigue. Prince took that as a cue to hold him, neither of them caring about the blood spreading over their skin and clothes.
Camp was set up not far from them, and Prince easily led Kokiri to their tent once it was ready. Enclosed in privacy, his partner only shivered harder, flexing the hand that was now crusted over with blood.
Prince grimaced and beckoned Smith over, who brought them clean cloths and a bowl of water. Kokiri stirred, pressing his cheek to Prince's chest and watching wearily as Prince dampened a cloth. Prince lifted Kokiri's hand to rest on his, and gently pressed the cloth against Kokiri's palm. He coaxed rusty rivulets to trickle down Kokiri's fingers until nothing was left but skin.
Prince checked his own hands last, assuring himself that the only blood left was swirling in the bowl. He cupped his partner's face and tried to meet his gaze, but Kokiri's eyes flicked away before Prince could see whatever he was too tired to guard.
Prince set the bowl aside, giving in to a simpler tactic. He leaned down to kiss his partner and Kokiri readily obliged, eager for escape.

That Broken Promise Boys, on a "How much of a Poor Little Meow-Meow are they?" scale:
Skyloft = 1-2, capable of war crimes but god you're gonna have to work to get them out of him
Minish = 4-5, has accidentally committed shit that could qualify but was so horrified he's avoiding a repeat assiduously
Kokiri = 9, only didn't commit regicide bc someone else got there first
Outset = 3, has accidentally committed near-qualifying stuff, was extremely horrified and is unlikely to ever repeat
Chief = 1-2, capable of war crimes but good luck getting him there
Ordon = 1, like sure he could but he most certainly will NOT
Four = 6-7, is not even remotely interested in committing war crimes, and the only one that can/has will not do it again
Prince = 6-7, as above: not interested, has largely packed up his ability to do so thank you very much.
Rabbit = 7-8, has definitely committed war crimes and has the trauma nightmares to prove it. Absolutely could repeat.
Smith = 1-2, Another "Good luck trying"
Far = 6-7, mostly hasn't had the scale or reason to do it, but honestly would if he felt it necessary
Hateno = 6-7, as above.

i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, he’s cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)

this is going to sound like the most boomer take ever but I genuinely think increasing reliance on technology for entertainment in youth is draining creativity. it's that instant gratification which allows you to shut your brain off for a while. these kids aren't having to resort to their own creativity when bored. there's always a solution to "bored" now. BRING BACK PLAYING WOLVES UNTIL BEDTIME
#I basically had to teach myself how to do my current job#and I learned a LOT of it by trial and error#and testing things and cross-checking#even my boss doesn't think to do some of it#it also means that we're struggling with new employees#bc a base skill needed is 'reading a paper map'#Which.... Yeah. Good luck finding that nowadays
