Im done with the sims community. Im tired of these assholes. Ive played so many games and dealt with sickening rude communities and toxic people, but NEVER have I dealt with this amount of toxic people. Everything from the assholes on tumblr, the dollhouse server, the assholes on reddit and twitter and everything else. It makes me regret being in this fandom. it makes me regret wanting to ever have mods in the sims. the sims community is DEFINITELY the most toxic ive ever been in. Ive played plenty of shooters, mmorpgs and other multiplayer games and single player communities... none of them are this racist, bigoted, self-centered, greedy and hateful. Ill keep to my stranger things tumblr shit. Goodbye simblr.

This is what she had to say. I don't believe her, especially considering what you found on their website, but let's humor her a minute. The set was never intended to be early access, she just wanted some rugs, she loves the community, so on and so forth. This is still blatant advertisement. For a) Ruggable, an established brand that will make money through the Sims 4, for essentially free if RVSN is telling the truth and b) RVSN's brand, which will no doubt boost patrons at the very end of the month/patreon billing cycle (likely leading to people being charged twice from the turnover). The second one isn't illegal of course, but always feels a little scummy to me. Influencers do what RVSN does all the time, but it's better to just be upfront about it. It's not a gift... it's an ad.

Anyway, pretty sure this is a lie. I also fully believe if there hadn't been some backlash, the set would've been early access, but that's just my personal opinion. It's all just influencer speak, even the "my truth" bit. Also love that my calculations are "off" when this is what she said before the price increase of her patreon- when she said she was making 50% of what she was making as an engineer (over 120K, so 60K by her own words) and that wasn't viable for her:

Now it's, "you're wrong, i don't need to defend myself, I know my truth". Spot the difference? The humbleness, if it was ever real, is not there anymore. It all feels so... out of touch. Like many influencers/businesses do.

Every day the odd monetization of this modding community amazes me even more. I would also like to say that this strikes me as something that probably isn't allowed per EA policy. Not only is EA not getting money from this sponsorship at all, but both Ravasheen and Ruggable are making money and receiving advertisement using a game that doesn't belong to either of them. This is not early access, this is something else entirely...
