to celebrate their escape, every year when Trollstice would take place, Pop Village would instead pick a handful of Trolls who have "overgrown" their roots within the Village and send them to "find their song" by allowing them to leave the Village
its said once you leave, you always find your 'eternal happiness'. no one ever comes back after all.
they must be happy out there.

Tip: Tip can't help but giggle slightly at the mental image of being only a few inches tall. It makes him seem even younger and more vulnerable, though he sobers quickly at the mention of Raven.
He shares a quick glance with DA!Qrow, who sighs and clears his throat.
DA!Qrow: "Uh, how is Raven, here I mean? She kinda... went a bit, well, Raven, in our world."
Tip: "She might come around, evetually... if she ever stops hating me."
DA!Qrow sighs, but doesn't argue that their Raven really seems to dislike Tip.
Mr. Oz: Yes, well, our Raven is doing much better now, but...
Qrow: Well, let's just say she wasn't always around. She kinda hated Oz at first, too, when she came back. But she came around. Eventually.
Mr. Oz: Of course, that was over three years ago. It's been quite a while since we made amends. She was in our wedding party, after all.
Qrow: [chuckles] Yeah, yeah, she was.

I will always adore the Tipverse, wherein Ozpin doesn't quite... die... when Beacon falls, and wakes up as his ten year old self in the rubble. :D Things snowball from there, the wild magic that changes him into his ten year old self (the age this version of Ozpin was when the merge completed) resets things slightly. He's still Ozpin, he's just not fully the wizard yet. Things get complicated from there, especially as it turns out he's kinda, well, a kidnapped Schnee. Atlas is... less than impressed to find that out, especially as he's Nicholas' youngest son and people have been looking for him (and a few others) for a few decades now...
But also the AU I'm crafting for the exchange, because reasons.

Tip: "That sort of magic sounds fascinating... I wish I could tslk to them, although a ghost version of Oscar still sounds rather, well, worrying."
He yawns again.
"Apologies about that, I suppose I'm still rather tired from... well..."
DA!Qrow: "Small versions as in smaller than Pocketsized, I'm guessing? Can't see that cat being scary otherwise..."
Tip: "The cat's cute. I wish I could have a pet, but it's rather too dangerous right now. Do you have any others?" He perks up, watching the cat curiously.
Oscar: Yeah, they were smaller than Tip. Like... This big [he puts his hand just four inches above the end table next to him to demonstrate]
Qrow: And uh... if you mean "do we have other cats," then no, but we do have other pets. Well, I do. My dog's a husky, but he lives with my sister now. I wasn't able to keep him when I moved in here. But he's still mine.

Tip: Tip looks rather upset at that.
"Ghost Oscar? What... why would he be a ghost? That certainly sounds like a very different Remnant..."
DA!Qrow: "Just as long as that Jimmy... and your Jimmy, aren't trying to adopt Pocketsized..."
Tip: "I mean, he means well? I think?"
DA!Qrow: "He's a controlling... never mind. Any others come through, or just them? Think ya told me, but then Oz collapsed... kinda got distracted."
Oscar: Well, they had all kinds of magic in their world. Their Oscar was brought back with that magic, but I don't really understand how. And I'm not sure what happened...
Mr. Oz: As for the others, we were also visited by two very small versions of Oscar and me [chuckles].
Oscar: Oh yeah! That was the same day Hex showed up [an orange tabby cat comes out from behind the couch and purrs at Oscar's feet]. He kinda scared the little guys, but they were okay [laughs].

Wow, that's heartbreaking. :(
Someone once asked me if, in my Halfway House AU, Raven hated Oz like she does in canon and I answered "no." I'm only now realizing that I was wrong because I was thinking about the context of canon too much.
Because she does end up hating him for a bit, but it's not til after she returns. When she feels like a stranger in her own life. When she feels like she has no idea what's going on with her own family and her own brother is almost unrecognizable to her.
Because it's been almost 20 fucking years since she spent real time with him. Since she did anything even remotely close to bonding with him.
Meanwhile, Oz has been glued to his side for the past seven years. Hell, even Raven's daughter has spent more time at Beacon than with her.
And it fucking eats her alive. And to her, there's one clear person she can lay all the blame on.
And it's Oz.

Tip and DA!Qrow share rather more amused glances at that. Tip fails to fully stifle another yawn, looking rather sheepish.
DA!Qrow: "Yes, well, Jimmy boy can be rather annoying at the best of times, kinda glad that much didn't change? Tell me, is he still such an arrogant, self righteous..."
He cuts off as Tip glares at him, nodding towards the kids meaningfully
"... person?" Qrow finishes, lamely.
Tip: "Tall one with the accent and the magic?" He sounds intrigued.
Mr. Oz: In our universe? I wouldn't call him "self righteous."
Qrow: "Arrogant" feels like a good word.
Mr. Oz: Sometimes, perhaps... but I think his positive qualities outweigh the negative.
Qrow: [grumbles] Sometimes.
Mr. Oz: As for my other-self, he was our first interdimensional visitor. Along with his Qrow and his Glynda at first, if I recall.
Oscar: And Ghost Me.
Mr. Oz: [chuckles] Yes, of course, how could I forget. They came from a Remnant that was... much different than ours.

DA!Qrow and Tip look at each other for a second, seemingly communicating by glances alone. Tip proceeds to sigh deeply.
Tip: "Not precisely? Magic, true magic, in my world is very rare. there are only six people with it right now. The maidens, Salem and, well... me. Seven technically if you count Qrow?
DA!Qrow: "Yeah, no, Pocketsized. I just turn into a crow and besides, that's all your fault."
Tip: "You wanted to fly. Besides, it's still rather funny.
Anyway" he continued, getting back on track, "Magic doesn't follow a lot of rules, but you should be pretty safe. I assume nothing bad has come through yet?"
Qrow: [turns to Oz] Well, you freaked out pretty hard when Jimmy showed up that one time. I mean- not you-you, other-you. The tall one with the accent and the magic.
Mr. Oz: [chuckles] Yes, I know what you mean, love. Although I do believe James's power was more... political. Being trapped at Beacon with us didn't make him much of a threat. We haven't had anything extremely dangerous come to visit us.
Qrow: Yet...

DA!Qrow: Qrow can't help but smirk at HH!Qrow's words, especially since it's true.
"if ours could get through, she would have. You'd know... ours is, um..."
Tip: "She is rather unique in appearance. Besides, as I do not have access to magic, it is unlikely that she will be able to use it. If... hmm, actually, she might not be able to come through at all. I do wish I could test this...
Apologies." Tip smiles at the kids, his eyes gentle, but still so very, very old.
"It's just something to watch out for? I'm sure you're safe this time, though!"
DA!Qrow: "Well, since this kinda tastes of magic, if anyone'd know, it'd be Pocketsized..."
[All the kids kinda look around.]
Ruby: Would he know more about it because... Because of the whole "being turned into a child" thing?

Tip: "I... no, no, this is important. You might be in danger. If not from the people from my world, then from others. You said this has happened before and... Salem would, she'd hurt you if she appeared.
I don't want to worry anybody, but... even without her magic, she's... not a good person."
There's old fear in his wide amber eyes, a fear far more ancient than his ten year old frame should be able to feel. Qrow reached one hand up and lays it on Tip's shoulder, Tip is trembling again.
Qrow: Oh, so Salem is a bitch across universes? That's comforting in a fucked up sort of way.
Ruby: We could be in... Danger?
Oscar: Why would someone want to hurt us?
[everyone looks at Mr. Oz]
Mr. Oz: W-well, it's slightly more complicated than that. My understanding is that it's possible that some of the less... I'll say hospitable... individuals from other universes may cause issues for us... If they ever found their way through whatever rift our guests seem to be traveling through...
[Oz stops, unsure of what to say next. He seems to be choosing his words carefully to not scare the children.]

Tip: "Ah, umm, well... that depends, really. I know Qrow was talking with Mr. Oz? But I'm uncertain just what he told him... and what he told yo, though from your reactions, I'm assuming not too much?"
Tip bites his lip, looking very young and very unsure in that moment, he glances at his Qrow who winces.
DA!Qrow: "Mostly just talked to Mr. Oz, Pocketsized... speaking of, ya said this lasts about two days?"
The question is directed at Mr. Oz. In the background, Tip relaxes further into the chair, his eyes drifting halfway shut. He still looks utterly exhausted.
Tip: "Qrow? You'll still be here if I fall asleep again, right?"
DA!Qrow: "Of course, Pocketsized. Told ya before, I ain't leaving you again."
Mr. Oz: W-well, yes [clears throat]. It's by no means an exact science, but that's about how long our previous visitors stuck around.
We don't have to go over everything right this moment, either. You did just wake up after all. Whatever you'd prefer.

Tip: Tip and Deaged!Qrow eventually walk downstairs. They do this rather slowly, it's obvious that Tip is shaky, even though at least he's up and moving. His eyes are slightly glazed and Qrow looks vaguely terrified, though he's supporting the boy's weight easily enough.
Tip's limp is obvious as they walk into the room where the others are, Qrow half carrying him over to an open chair and hovering, looking worried.
"M'okay, Qrow. I... apologise, for collapsing, everybody. I imagine that might have been rather unusual, under the circumstances. I... think I'm alright? It's hard to tell...
Qrow... said he told you certain things?" Tip looks over at Mr. Oz, though it's obvious he's still not fully well.
Deaged!Qrow: "Yeah, Pocketsized insisted he was okay. I have my doubts, but... yeah, kinda his call?"
Tip: Tip looks grateful for Qrow's words, even as he sinks into the chair as though he hasn't just spent several hours asleep. He fails to quite stifle a yawn, but shrugs his bag off anyway, laying it in his lap.
"So... yes, what exactly were you wishing to know?
Oscar: We're just glad you're okay, Tip.
Ruby: Yeah, we were all really worried about you.
Blake: I don't think we really have any other questions for you...
Oscar: Yeah, you gave us a lot of information before you started trying to train us. Why? Was there something else you needed to share?
