would it still be acceptable if people sent you nudes?
depends how old they are!
(if over 18 iā€™m not interested - haha!)

Do you think your underage fans should look at your work?
i get a lot ofĀ ā€œunderageā€ followers on instagram - so i am actually careful about what i post there - tho anything offensive, like a nipple, promptly gets reported and deleted anyway - in general tho, i donā€™t have qualms about young fans viewing my work - their response to it probably a lot more pure and intelligent than supposedly mature adults (the afore-mentioned nipple deleters for example)

How would you define "eye candy" art?
"something purely aesthetically pleasingā€ - like the ubiquitous paintings of pretty girls with flowers in their hair espoused byĀ ā€œbeautiful bizarreā€ magazine in particular -Ā generally superficial and no real depth as art - (obviously alex grey, ron english and robert williams do actually stand above that despite adopting a deliberately ā€œlow browā€ stance)

Do you like Alex Grey?
yes, heā€™s pretty impressive of course - tho iā€™m not super enamoured, i have to admit - i lump together with artists like ron english and robert williams - very juxtapoz-ey - eye candy - a bit too close to paintings of dolphins and sunsets : /

Are you interested in doll making?
yes, but iā€™m no good at it - iā€™ve made one ball-joint doll - at bee kanno doll school, long ago (circa 1996?) - it was featured in one magazine but itā€™s embarassing bad amateur work i prefer not to be seen! (itā€™s been destroyed)Ā - iā€™ve made a few other forays into clay sculpting - a penishead skull in 1994 (just the penis additions) , an anatomy doll in 1995 (just the anatomy addition), a heart doll head in 2007 and a black heart in 2016 (a nananano cosplay prop) - all these are on my website

What are the best art bookstores in Tokyo?
i want the answer to that too - nadiff? (i rarely ever go) - i used to love aoyama book centre (shinjuku) and parco (shibuya) when first in japan - and tower records (shibuya) for comix and import books - but theyā€™ve all deteriorated into nothingness or mere shadows of their former selves now - barely any exciting books coming out any more - and everyone shops at amazon

What are your thoughts on plaaastic passing?
she isnā€™t dead - but sheā€™s far away, i doubt if anyone knows where she is now - error 404, broken, missing, ā€œdeadā€Ā - sheā€™s reinventing herself i guess - i hope she comes back - but she wasnā€™t happy being plaaastic - half a million followers telling her toĀ ā€œbe strongā€ when she just felt a weak little girl...

Whatā€™s your opinion of people who fantasize that they are infants/toddlers and poop in diapers before intercourse?
so, is this ~your~ fantasy? - i donā€™t have any strong opinions re peopleā€™s sexual preferences

Trevor: Do you have original art for sale? Also, have you ever done commissions? Thank you. John
yes, some works available! - i think iā€™ve just answered you by email - i rarely (or never) do commissions as iā€™m no good at them (my heart isnā€™t into it if iā€™m not working to my own ideas)

Why do you mostly paint girls and not boys?
girls are cuter - for me anyway - sometimes i have painted boys tho - and some of my girls may be boys in disguise!

I'm first a Sceptic when it comes to Religion or the Spiritual but I really like to research and then make an informed opinion Wiccans have a westernized version of the Day of the Dead on Halloween with their own variations pronounced Sow-en. It is based on the Druid's and the Dead are respected. Among their usual rituals, there is time Halloween Fun! I agree with you, you have the right Idea!
i draw the line at digging up dead relatives and putting them on display! Ā (indonesia?)

HI, I just found your new website! Glad it's back, especially after the all new look and update when it went offline! I wanted to ask you, when do you think your next book will be published? Also, how do you and your wife like to celebrate Halloween? I know Christmas is celebrated in Japan, but is Halloween popular? In Mexico, The Day of the Dead is being Westernized by Halloween, which angers people, because Halloween is a contradiction.
it would be better if western halloween was mexico-ised! - halloween is big in japan - valentines day too - anything that can be easily commercially exploited is big in japan (same as anywhere i guess!) -Ā besides the usual pumpkins etc, halloween tends to be increasingly associated with cosplay - so, altho i donā€™t especiallyĀ ā€œcelebrateā€ it myself, iā€™m starting to be associated with it asĀ a few trevor brown fans do get dressed up for it inspired by my paintings - last halloween was an exhibition of nanananoā€™s tb cosplay - and that will now beĀ ā€œmyā€ next book! - out before february ...i think! (heard no news about it for a while) - besides that, my next collection of work should be completed by this time next year - so possibly a bookĀ of some form to go with that - paintings are well underway but only just started to discuss plans - so all very unsure at the moment...

What software do you use for working in your pictures?
an old version of photoshop - basically iā€™m only scaling drawings up to canvas size, making sure faces are adequately symmetrical, usually always have to make heads smaller, that sort of thing - i canā€™t draw digitally at all!

What material and techniques do you use for making your art?
oil on canvas almost solely now - prior to 2000 it was airbrush ink on board - my oil technique sort of follows my airbrush technique: building up colours with thin layers - i start with pencil drawings, refine that on the computer, transfer the outlines onto the canvas ...then itā€™sĀ painting by numbers : )

Hello I really like your Ichigo painting from 2014. How might I go about getting a print?
thereā€™s been a lot of interest in that image since itā€™s been used for a clickbaitĀ ā€œthe first thing you see in this image reveals your deepest unconscious fearā€ psychoanalysis test - there are no prints, i probably should have cashed in quicker and made posters of it - it does appear in myĀ ā€œpandoraā€ book tho (akatako.net will have)
